Remember everyone, all of the C8 videos you're seeing is just a base C8 Stingray vs the higher end of other cars, ie Hell cat, gt500, ZL1, etc. Once that Z06 drops, it's going to murder the game stock for stock.
high revving, high HP, low torque engines (which it is) usually aren't especially good for launches/racing. The Z06 isn't going to be that much faster than the older Z06 (barring whatever benefits launch control provides). Expect perhaps 1/2 a second quicker, but basically the same trap speeds.

@@mrmete you have not provided any sort of counterargument whatsoever. In general a 600 HP car with 750 lb/ft of torque is faster in acceleration than a 600 HP car with 450 lb/ft of torque. While there are some cars which buck this trend, it doesn't invalidate it. Also, 670 horsepower isn't all that much more power than 650 is, and there's very little fundamentally different about an FMR vs an MR layout, for performance purposes.

I have owned and have run a C7 Z06 and a C8 at Bandemire - 6,000’ elevation. I ran a 11.2 in the Z06 and a 12.5 in the C8 with full launch control. Boosted motors aren’t affected by altitude like NA motors are. About a 20% drop in hp (down to 400 from 495) on the C8 while maybe a drop of 30 hp down to 620 hp on the Z06.
1” of manifold pressure per 1000’ of altitude So you’ll be left with 22’ of manifold pressure at 6000ft of elevation from the 28’ you had at sea level.
Altitude might play here but i wonder about the times of both cars near sea level. However i would prefer a C7 Z06 compared to the C8 Z06 as well or both ZR1 trims in order to be fair.

You can't compare 650 supercharged hp to 495 n.a. hp without the weaker engine having a couple advantages (like mid-engine AND an amazing launch control). As shown with the 1 C8 that was using launch control (hear the engine revving before the start), it was MUCH quicker off the line, increasing the time for the 155hp more powerful car to barely reel it in. Impressively quick for having less than 500hp.

There are two ways to look at this: Either from a purist point of view and based of power alone . Or. If there are other tricks in order to compensate like mid engine and launch control. Both are viable because both are valid solutions for the same problem. The real test is around a track under the same conditions. Launch control is only good once the launch is over but the extra power will dominate the longer it remains active, then there is handling, traction, aero, the transmission, center of gravity and even the quantity of fuel both cars can carry into consideration. This is one generation to the next with a while different approach. No bias here, simply different mentalities.

These are not fair comparisons. The C8 Stingray has a 460 HP engine. The C7 ZO6 and Camaro ZLI both use the supercharged LT4 engine that puts out 650 HP.
I'd actually expect that Front engine rwd setups are better for straight line speed Mid engine rwd is better in use at a race track or raceway taking corners... 2 totally different cars here other than badging and brand and some interchangeable parts I'm sure

No matter how you look at it, the C8 only has 495 horsepower, compared to the ZO6, it has 650 horsepower. And, the C8 has and will have overheating problems. GM still hasn't worked out that issue.
Performance aside (I'm aware these are not apples-to-apples comparisons), I am just not a fan of the C8's looks. The C7 and C6 are my favorites. (I'm not an owner of either, btw.) I hope the C9 (or maybe a future C8 revamp) looks better.

I happen to own both a C7 Z06 and a C8 Z51 they are totally two different animals. The C8 is not a down turn in design. The mid engine car was a must to compete with the Euro supercars. Once the C8 Z06 and ZR1 are out it will be a different ball game. Stock Stingrays are just base cars it ridiculous to compare them to the top configurations of the other cars.
On a drag strip, where grip isn't an issue, of course the car with less weight and more power is going to win... C8 would probably win on a regular road until a certain point.

That red c8 with high wing has something wrong with it. Might have that transmission issue that some c8s have. Its to slow the red mist one seems good took the c7 zo6.

It does not have the power or aerodynamics for that. The Z51 package actually lowers the top speed. I'm a Corvette guy myself, so I can't believe you're claiming any of what you said.
So in other words, equivalent trims have about zero generational improvement? A last gen Stingray could run about the same time as this one at the same altitude.
Personally, I can't live without a Proper 3rd Pedal 6 Speed Manual Transmission . I would take a C7 or a GT350 any day. If the C8 or GT500 cost $50,000. I would spend $20k or upto $80k for the 6 Manual Transmission. I lived for 7 years with my 2016 Performance Pack Mustang. Never again. 🙋👍🏎🏁 This proves a less restricted Manual Transmission is Faster. Porsche Cayman 6 speed in Road course beat an M4 Competition Automatic Transmission By 0.4 of a second. Allows Redline. 2 weeks ago I Bought the only White Mustang with a Proper 3rd Pedal 6 Speed Manual Transmission in California 🙋👍🏎🏁 good share
I get that altitude makes a difference. However, a 12.7 is REALLY bad! People have done 12.7 seconds for the 1/4 mile in STOCK Kia Stingers. I would at least expect the Corvette to stay in the 11s no matter what the altitude was.
The 150k ZR1 755HP LT5 2019 VETTE C7 wasn't talked about much . Dont see many videos on it .but as a previous corvette owner and how mine performed. That last C7 ZR1 is capable of beating anything stock thats out right now .its the demons nitemare.as far as the video the C7 ZO6 with 650 hp whoud beat the first gen.C8 .The new C8 ZO6 is a different story. It was the rear wheels, the C-8 never got good burnouts. Actually, you get more torque when it comes from the front of the car. Or am I wrong about this?
reading the various educated comments here tells me dont by into all the C8 hype and stupid rip offs in price. I had a 21 corvette HTC . just a regular car enthusiast and have had many sports cars . I had 2 encounters on highway strait away with Ford Rapter and Landrover supercharged SUV . both stayed right with me in fact slightly ahead up to 110 at which point I said ain't worth the ticket great cars but not at 10, 20, 30k over sticker.

I have no dog in the hunt. But the subject Corvette driver seems to be a novice. I suspect there is more in that car than he knows how to drive. I don't know if he would be that much faster. But the car is not getting it's full potential used.
what I don't like about these videos is a lot of these cars aren't stock, so it's pointless whether it's a 2020 vette or a 2012 camaro like none of that sht is relevant once people start modding. So no point saying it's x car vs y car...doesn't matter if it's a minivan if it has a different engine, twin turbo, and all this other sht done to it

@@ShinyBlackRims It's a car designed for very high-performance and to go over 200 MPH. Not all supercars are designed to rival other supercars. The C8 was made for aerodynamics and high-performance.
@@shawncrawfordamerica1776 the C8 Stingray does not have high performance compared to Lamborghini, McLaren, or Ferrari. That is why it's not a supercar. It's a premium sports car. Most of its performance metrics are marginal improvements over the C7 stingray. The only thing it does a lot better is 0-60, but that is due to being mid-engine.
C8 does not get 200 mph top speed. It does not have the power or aerodynamics for that. The Z51 package actually lowers the top speed.

First off, the first race is a C7ZO6 vs a C8Z51. The title is misleading, I was hoping for a fair comparison between the two generations.
I get that altitude makes a difference. However, a 12.7 is REALLY bad! People have done 12.7 seconds for the 1/4 mile in STOCK Kia Stingers. I would at least expect the Corvette to stay in the 11s no matter what the altitude was.
A lot of it depends on the driver. A bad driver can make a fast car very slow.

The 150k ZR1 755HP LT5 2019 VETTE C7 wasn't talked about much . Dont see many videos on it .but as a previous corvette owner and how mine performed. That last C7 ZR1 is capable of beating anything stock thats out right now .its the demons nitemare.as far as the video the C7 ZO6 with 650 hp whoud beat the first gen.C8 .The new C8 ZO6 is a different story. The C8 in 2024 is finishing with a ZR1 AWD hybrid Twin Turbo with a 5.5 flat plane crank 800 hp That will be the last , fastest, and Quickest stock corvette ever made. then there going to all electric.like the C7 the ZR1 will end the C8 the same way. Thats the plan.
It was the rear wheels, the C-8 never got good burnouts. Actually, you get more torque when it comes from the front of the car. Or am I wrong about this?

reading the various educated comments here tells me dont by into all the C8 hype and stupid rip offs in price. I had a 21 corvette HTC . just a regular car enthusiast and have had many sports cars . I had 2 encounters on highway strait away with Ford Rapter and Landrover supercharged SUV . both stayed right with me in fact slightly ahead up to 110 at which point I said ain't worth the ticket

I have no dog in the hunt. But the subject Corvette driver seems to be a novice. I suspect there is more in that car than he knows how to drive. I don't know if he would be that much faster. But the car is not getting it's full potential used.
what I don't like about these videos is a lot of these cars aren't stock, so it's pointless whether it's a 2020 vette or a 2012 camaro like none of that sht is relevant once people start modding. So no point saying it's x car vs y car...doesn't matter if it's a minivan if it has a different engine, twin turbo, and all this other sht done to it
