The benefits of mulch in terms of water retention, preventing soil compaction and erosion , improved soil structure, fertility and microbial and fungal well being are well tested and documented. Effective mulching above the earth dams will reduce erosion and silting. As Monica said please investigate Permaculture.

@@Pelumzim i have been wondering why there were not more projects for creating swales in the country given how we struggle with water supply, have you heard of the work of geoff lawton, he is on youtube as well i recommend looking into his work, especially on agroforestry, you might find inspiration from it.
Thanks for sharing. We have many similar problems in California due to a century of "old school" farming methods. The vast majority of farmers continue practices that reduce soil fertility. There are a few of us doing small scale soil remediation, myself included. I would like to think we're making a difference, but economic pressure makes it nearly impossible.

Geoff Lawton in Australia is using this system. If you don't know about it already, please look it up as I think it could really help you to retain water in the soil. this guy seems arrogant to me talking down to farmers blaming them for siltation and erosion; Zaphania Phiri Maseko would not have approved this approach - he empowered the communities to build their water harvesting systems not make haughty remarks and then try to make a sales for his school. all learning should be free and in this instance where it builds flourishing and sustainable farming communities is an asset for the future of the countries food security and provides income and employment; this should not be seen as an opportunity to exploit farmers having access to knowledge and water system management and harvesting technologies.
It's a shame that LGBT people are not protected in your country ! I wish I could come and visit this beautiful place and give a hand too ! My father spent a lot of time in your country, I've always wanted to go see the nature there ... keep it pristine until your mind open to different peoples ! One of the biggest problems we have in Africa Zimbabwe as a whole is outsiders/donors/charity Aid organization and individuals coming in and thinking they know what is good for Africa and Africans and talking down to people as you are doing... have some respect if not for others for yourself..this is not the place for your choosen topic...I am sure there are many many platforms within the Zimbabwean community where you csn discuss LGBT issues to your heart's content.. the two topics are not related.. People in Zimbabwe as you can see are well organized and are doing it for themselves.. please stay where you are.. I am sure there are problems in your own country that you can help with.. we don't need you in Zimbabwe thank you very much!
