Without a doubt this is the best how to video I have seen (and I have seen over 200)! I have never seen so much detail on any model so far. I know some if the tank builders go into great detail but this is by far the most interesting. Normally I build big trucks and some cars in the 1/24 or 1/25 range. I will buy this model and use many of your procedures. Thanks. Also those that build model trains and structures have many dirt mixes for sale. Also grass mixtures and various lengths of grass in case you want to put some around the edge of your blade. Either green freshly pulled grass or dried grass from days of working the top soil. Lastly the machines like this I have seen the word Hitachi on the back is also scratched up. Unless Hitachi is paying you to keep it clean! That's a joke.

Wow! That is all I can say about this! Amazing job sir!
If I were to ever do this model ide only change 2 things, 1 a darker mud color, but that is just because we have a darker dirt where I live. And put WAY more scratches all over the tail end! I've never see an exavator in real life under 100hrs with at least a few scratches, once the machines get a few thousand hours...the entire back will basically be metal, rust, and diffrent colors from hitting stuff.

I've never really built anything other than militaria and sci-fi, but this seems to be a nice common ground between the two. Fantastic build and technique. Dec. 2017---Thanks for the video and showing off the kit....your build looks great. This is the first video I've seen of this kit and the kit will look great in one of my zombie/apocalypse dioramas.

@@SergioSolo June 6, 2022----Yes, I did buy this kit and may even buy a 2nd kit. One used for digging mass graves, another for digging trenches that zombies can't climb out of. Also got the kit with those grabbing arms or whatever they're called. Going to see if I can have them lifting a car to make a barricade of them on a street, with at least two buildings on each side of the street.

Would fine abrasive media (material used for sandblasting) be a viable material for the creation of dry mud effect? It's still sand but it can be much much finer than the sand you would get from the beach or playground or whatever. Plus, it comes in colors as well.
Could you tell me the manufacturer of the parallel clamps you use in this video? Nice work and will definitely be using some chalk as great effects.

That's spectacular! I think I will be trying the food color and floor wax tint trick, I loved that one. May I ask if you've ever considered using Mylar (like on those party balloons) for mirrors? I've had some nice results using it. Again that was an awesome build.

I love the way you did the dry mud, gave such a great effect, couldn't you do the same thing with a lighter colour to replicate dust?
+Godzilla Thank you, Godzilla! Do you mean the use a finer sand to replicate dust? If so, I don't think it'd work. The dry pastel chalk is perfect for that
Sergio Solo yes, use a lighter almost white colour, maybe make it thinner and apply it to areas where dust will build up

Hola Sergio.... Estoy haciendo una maquina similar a esta, la Hitachi Ascato Neo. He visto en tu modelo una cosa muy curiosa.... cuando aplicas el chipping lo aplicas sobre DOS PINTURAS a la vez!!!!! y estas salen de maravilla, y el efecto de naranja, blanco y óxido te queda genial, mi pregunta es.... cuanto tiempo dejes de secado en cada una de las capaz. imagino que el oxido lo dejas que se seque al 100% y luego aplicas de un tiron, laca, blanco, laca y naranja..... Pero cuanto tiempo dejas de secado entre estos materiales? Felicidades
Hola, Joaquín. El tiempo de secado depende de la marca de pinturas y laca que uses. Las pinturas de Vallejo (y en general las acrílicas) se secan muy rápido, así que puedo empezar a trabajar casi inmediatamente después de aplicarla. He comprobado que la laca que uso puede seguir desconchando la pintura si le aplico agua dos semanas después (no he probado por más tiempo), pero cada marca es diferente. ¡Saludos!

Hola, Diego. El modelo terminado nunca se vuelve a manipular y la tiza no se cae sola, así que se puede dejar así. Si quieres más protección puedes aplicar un fijador de pigmentos

+fernando cornejo fernandez ¡Muchas gracias, Fernando! El pegamento diluye la pintura, así que no es obligatorio quitarla, a menos que sea en una parte que necesite soportar bastante peso, como el brazo.

When I try your dry mud technique with pastels at 20 minutes 15 seconds, my pastels sit on top of the water instead of mixing like yours do. Did I choose the wrong pastel or the wrong water?
Not sure, but I had to stir the mix a lot
You will have to break the water's surface tension by applying one drop of liquid soap. I also do that when I use diluted PVA glue.
Non-Prolific 1/35th Scale Model Builder then wouldnt it get all soapy?

Enhorabuena Sergio. Eres un maestro y un artista. El acabado es espectacular al igual que tus explicaciones. Sólo un par de dudas: utilizas acrílicos Vallejo Model Color que no son para aerógrafo, así que, ¿en qué proporción lo diluyes y con qué? El tono naranja lo has clavado. Indicas los nombres de los colores y las proporciones. ¿Son también de Model Color? Nuevamente, enhorabuena.
¡Muchas gracias por tu comentario! Te cuento que uso agua destilada para diluir las Model Color de Vallejo, en una proporción inicial de 50:50 y luego ajusto la mezcla según sea necesario. El tono naranja también lo hice mezclando pinturas Model Color (olvidé poner una foto). ¡Saludos!

Sólo leí los primeros comentarios y ahora que los he visto todos me he dado cuenta que te lo han preguntado varias veces. Si lo indicas en tu próximo vídeo te ahoraras escribir :)
Sólo otra pregunta: ¿en vez de la laca has usado alguna vez productos específicos para desconches? Vallejo, MIG AMMO, etc los tienen pero creo que la efectividad dura mucho menos que con la laca. Hay que pintar y retirar casi de inmediato porque después no se desprende la pintura.
¿Compraste la maqueta online? Es difícil de encontrar y las pocas que veo están sin disponibilidad. ¡Saludos!
¡Hola de nuevo! En mi más reciente video (pintura y ensuciado del Tiger 1 de Rye Field Model) pruebo el líquido para desconchones de AMMO. La maqueta la compré en HLJ.com pero no tienen disponibilidad actualmente, como ya has visto (aunque puedes darle 'backorder' y pagarla cuando la vuelvan a tener disponible). ¡Saludos!

Noob question, why did you use the varnish before you applied the oil wash for the interior but not the exterior? Actually, why the varnish? thanks!
+Han Chen Hi! The wash on the cabin was more general, like a filter. On the outside I needed it to stick more to some places, and for that I prefer a matte or satin finish, but at the end is just personal preference :)
Sergio....Can you explain how you dilute the Vallejo Model Color paint and what you use to dilute the paint with. Many thanks.
+Paul Dutot I use distilled water to thin them, starting at 1:1 ratio, then I tweak the mix if necessary (not all colors behave the same)

I had the same question for Sergio some time ago and since then I have been starting enjoying the Model Color range from Vallejo more than their Air Model paints...
And by the way I discovered that Italeri sells practically the same paint in larger bottles (20ml instead of 17ml for the same price...).
