wonderful review. I feel this game gets overlooked as being too simple, but that is where it shines. I turn to this when I want to play something relaxing and still engaging. not every game can be Oathsworn, TI4, etc.
just ordered this game yesterday :o . And waiting for it to arrive! amaizing that you guys are reviewing it right now XD planning to play a 2 player game with ma Gf
I have played this as the computer game a few times and it is a very chill experience so when I saw this was becoming a board game I got very interested. The campaign/legacy stuff makes sense with how you unlock new tiles etc in the computer game but to me when boardgaming I tend to stay away from legacy stuff since it kinda makes it a one time experience. We'll see. I might get this game and then just house rule stuff to my own liking and have it as a pure solo game to just chill with. =)
Loved this game, wasn't sure about it but ended up playing 27 games in less than 3 weeks with my wife ! It's quite addictive and really a great time. Once finished no more interest for us though...
Looking for a casual tile laying (or similar) game that will support at least up to 6 players as our game night group has grown. I thought this game might be too easy for the more advanced players but maybe this fits the bill as we usually have at least one casual gamer playing too. Otherwise, I am considering Cascadia with Landmarks expansion that will support up to 6 players. There’s also Aqua, a new tile laying game but only supports 4 players…unless two games could be combined. I appreciate your review as I’m now leaning towards Dorf Romantik.
Cascadia + landmarks is the way to go. With 6 people playing, there are too many people trying to make collective decisions. This means some people might totally check out mentally as there are only so many decisions to make. A lot of people say this feels like a group activity rather than a satisfying group game. Cascadia has given my friends a sense of personal fulfillment and challenge regardless of if they are casual or experienced gamers. The landmarks expansion looks like a great addition!
My wife and I just didn't enjoy this game.. seemed like all the "group decisions" were obvious choices and the scoring was very linear for this reason. That said, I know most people enjoy it and I'm glad you guys did as well!
It definitely is a solo game that you can play co-op and you can feel that. How far did you get in the game? The scoring gets much more interesting as you go
Dorf actually means village, not city. And man it's exhausting, seeing non German speakers yelling "JA", as if it means anything. 😂 Otherwise great review. XD
@@BoardGameHangover OK. But do you scream it? XD People just scream it, if it is meant to be German. :D But the more you know. Now I know one word if I ever go to Latvia. :D

"it's your mom's game that is really really good..." BEST LINE EVER!! Hahahaha!!!
YOU ARE BOTH AWESOME! ❤❤❤

When you played the game, did you put the OST in the background? It would probally make the game even more chill. 😄
That's a good point, soundtrack is a great addition to almost any game...

The duel version just came out.

What Florjang said. You shouldn't play Dorfromantik with more than 3 players. Cascadia is a great option for 6 players :))
Dang! I want the snapback hat, but it's $32 plus shipping to Portland, Oregon, US. We have print on demand companies in the US maybe you could use?! 😃
We are already using a POD from US... :( We'll look into it
I can't wait to get hands on this game in latvian. Right? It will happen soon? :)
Ah, one can wish. I am quite sure it will not be coming out in Latvian this year. /JG
That would be bummer. 9 out of last 10 SdJ winners were localised. And this one I want to play. Thanks.
Caps still available in store?
Still available, yes

Well actually (if I had glases I would adjust them now). Here in Latvia it means the same thing it does in Germany ;)

Oh boy do we scream it. A lot. Granted, it does sound less German ;)
@@BoardGameHangover Hehe. OK, I gotta hear this. Let's see if one of your vids has it in it. XD
Ja!
For me, it is a really good game 😅!
I really really really like it 😊😊😊
It's a very addictive game
