While it's too early to judge Laf's career trajectory, I have to defend his rookie season somewhat. He came into the year with a very abbreviated training camp, no preseason, not having played meaningful hockey in long time, so he was going to need a while to adjust to the speed of the NHL. He also was stuck in the bottom 6 for most of the year, so he wasn't getting the minutes or quality linemates he needed to produce. Good list and some insightful commentary. I think Stamkos is a surefire HOFer. In the future I'll suggest you make two HOF tiers: '1st ballot HOFer' and 'HOFer'. Players like Crosby, Ovi, Kane are clear 1st ballot HOFers; having two HOF tiers will allow you to separate them from players like Stamkos.

Hey RTH, love your content, been a fan for about a year. Good to actually see your face during the video too. Good luck in the new house. As a Maple Leaf fan, I really wanted to see Matthews in HOF category, but I get where you're coming from. Think he can get to get level, and also do u think MaKinnon could get there?
Nugent-Hopkins is underrated. Overall, I think he is a much better player than Taylor Hall, but he's learned to play like a defensive forward (Patrice Bergeron?). On the Oilers pp, he is the perfect supporting cast for McD and Draisaitl. Puljujarvi crowds the crease, Nurse or Barrie on the point, Drai hangs out around the goal line to snipe ridiculous extreme angle shots, and McDavid is the 1st string Quarterback. Nugent Hopkins is like the second string QB on this pp, the desire is for the puck to be on Connor's stick, but with that amazing supporting pp cast, its almost as deadly on Nugent Hopkins' stick as it is on McD's.
Theres not even a debate between matthews and mcdavid, not that Matthews isnt an unreal player, but regardless of what team he would play for mcdavid would make an impact where Matthews is a little more dependent on supporting cast
I agree for the most part. It's a pretty good list but I think Stamkos, Tavares, McKinnon amd Matthews will be in the Hall of Fame, especially if you look at some of the guys in there already. There's a lot generous entries.
You absolutely can not put MacKinnon on the superstar level for not having playoff success and then proceed to put McDavid in to the hall of fame. MacKinnon will be in the hall of fame with atleast two cups (with avs) but McDavid won't win a cup atleast as an oiler. I do think they are both hall of fame tier players. But if McDavid doesn't get out of Edmonton he won't win a cup (or has similar playoff succes like until today) and that could keep him out of the hall.
In my Opinion, I think Dahlin has the potential to be a Norris contestant, and if buffalo's young core turns out well, Buffalo might have a Norris under their belt.
Chris Osgood is not in the Hall of Fame. But this one is trickier then it seems. On surface level yes if you look at his 60 goal season it's a no brainer. But ever since 2012, Stamkos has been a very different player. His analytics dropped significantly. There were several years where his impact was meh. Obviously due to injuries, but this isn't the injury HOF.

With the development of Hoglander and intro of Podz our top 9 is rounding out nicely.
I personally, was high on dipi. His contract was ridiculous but I do believe he could’ve been a star if injuries didn’t derail his career.
Kovalchuk would be in the hall of fame if he didn’t go to the KHL, probably around 600-650 goals had he played in the NHL the whole time and averaged similar numbers. Its too bad.
Perfect rankings in my books.
As long as they don’t fall off a cliff, I 100% think they will both be in the HOF. A bit too early, but they are both game breaking talents.
@@RobTalksHockey sounds good thanks
If Lindros is in the Hall of fame with no cups then Stamkos is first ballot being a captain on 2 cup teams
mackinnon took that limited playoff success remark to heart this season
I agree for the most part. It's a pretty good list but I think Stamkos, Tavares, McKinnon amd Matthews will be in the Hall of Fame, especially if you look at some of the guys in there already. There's a lot generous entries.
Tavares probably won’t be, unless Toronto wins some cups. His individual numbers and overall success won’t be there
Not a single player on this list came in and played 3rd line minutes except Lafreniere. Kid is gonna be a stud.
its funny how did not know that Matthews had 60 goals
You absolutely can not put MacKinnon on the superstar level for not having playoff success and then proceed to put McDavid in to the hall of fame. MacKinnon will be in the hall of fame with atleast two cups (with avs) but McDavid won't win a cup atleast as an oiler. I do think they are both hall of fame tier players. But if McDavid doesn't get out of Edmonton he won't win a cup (or has similar playoff succes like until today) and that could keep him out of the hall.
Bruh Dahlin should have his own category at the bottom
Wow I agree with this 100% (as of right now obviously) I think you did really good this time round 👍👍
Honestly the NHL has some of the best 1st overall picks, almost no one is on the last 3 out of the entire 2000’s
This is lowkey perfect
Great vid, now do #2 pick players
Rob let’s hear your thoughts on the OEL to Van trade
Do a top players of the decades list ect(2010s)
Can you do another tier list!
Agree with the list except Mackinnon. He is arguably top 5 if not top 3 players in the NHL
How did the Canadians pick that kid in the first they could’ve used there 7th for him
Nuge is an Allstar every day of the week. I mean if you're looking purely for points maybe not but he does everything.
please redo this list asap after this years season because so many of these guys are breaking out or improving alot
In my Opinion, I think Dahlin has the potential to be a Norris contestant, and if buffalo's young core turns out well, Buffalo might have a Norris under their belt.
Probably about time for a 'stash tier list. Lowest tier being Marner-tier instead of Yak attack?
2:31 Michel Plasse actually was 1st ovr in '68
Bonafide Chris Osgood is a HOFer yet a guy who got 60 goals, and was the captain of 2 cup teams is in the superstar tier.
Switch Nico to All Star and Hughes to Superstar now lol
in a few years you do this again matthews and mackinnon will be hall of fame
Steven Stamkos is a hall of famer I’m sorry
Great vid
Everything is spot on 👏 👏 👏
