Here's a fun little hack to help improve the look of single crochet rows and flat tapestry crochet. Let me know if you would like to learn more about tapestry or intarsia crochet. It's a lot of fun and I have tips for that in general as well especially if you're a beginner. xx
Me too,I would really appreciate since I'm just starting. These hacks were super brilliant and finally the small project I've started is looking decent. Thank you❤
I dont normally leave comments on videos but this was a life saver! I was struggling to make my work look like the pattern but this did the trick. Cant recommend giving this a try enough if youre struggling to have neat and straight lines.
My jaw was dropped the entire video; this is fantastic! I’m someone who loves to crochet pixel art especially anime/pop characters so this going to bump my gifts up to 💯! Thanks for the amazing tips!
I cant wait to try this, I've been struggling with properly maintaining a "good" side and bad side while turning my work, this is waaay more clear to follow, wish me luck 😮💨
Okay… now… this I GOTTA try!!! 😮 So easy to understand and the pacing/speed is INCREDIBLY AND ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!! 🤩 So perfect anyone that knows the basics of crochet is able to understand regardless of disability (cognitive/neurodivergent/intellectual/etc.)! I say that with no offense and with the right to bc I’m neurodivergent 😊
OMG! This is FANTASTIC! Thank you so much for sharing this! If you wanted to show how to do a SC border around this , that would be wonderful! I love your tutorials- they make me want to just crochet all day!
Thank you for another fun, informative and inspiring video! I absolutely would appreciate videos on both intarsia & tapestry crochet. Your videos are wonderful. The clarity of your instruction, speed which you demonstrate the stitches & camera angles are so helpful, I can't imagine anyone better to learn new techniques from. Thanks for being such a great teacher!
This is PHENOMENAL, thank you so much for sharing! I'm commenting in the hopes the algorithm shows this to more people, because everyone needs to know about it!
Thank you so very much for your awesome tutorials! So helpful I would really love a tutorial on how to crochet tapestry. Please keep making tutorials🙏 I just appreciate what you do so much ❤️
Hi Roz, Thank you for sharing this hack…it’s always great to learn new things that’s the only way to grow in my opinion. I’d definitely watch the videos if you do any on tapestry and intarsia. I love your tutorials. Take care and stay safe and warm. God bless 🙏🏼💗😊🧶
Learning the reverse or backwards single crochet would be a game changer for you… no having to carry yarn across.. work back and forth yet from is cohesive.
I do know how to do it but didn’t realize it would work for something like this Are you sure it would? Can you confirm. If so I’ll make a video about it , thanks!
I think it could for sure!!! As long as you keep all of your ends to the one side. It might be more tedious but I think it’s awesome because it doesn’t waste yarn and can be used for big projects like blankets or sweaters.
Fantastic tutorial, very interesting 👍 I would love a tutorial on tapestry and intarsia 🙏I would also be interested on a tutorial on the special stitches to create patterns 🙏😊 thank you so much.
Hello, thanks so much the fantastic hack. I am beginner as well your videos helps me so much. But i do have a one question. I am working on a tote bag with a star on it right now. My question is one the back side after i finished crocheting after dropping and dropping the secondary color, how do you fix the backside that is hanging the secondary color, is there a way to make the backside more neater? Maybe sewing the hanging colors into the project?
Exactly - once you have completed your project (or when you’re sure you don’t need those colors anymore) you can weave in the loose strands to hide them and make them disappear. 👍🏻💕💕
Hi! thank you for this Wonderfull video. Im trying the yarn under technique of this hack on a blanket as we speak. But I encounter a problem. My work is slightly tilting. The ends are going diagonal. so it not straight as your sample. Please advice how to fix this.
This is so helpful! Creates a much more intact look. Please do a more in-depth video. I'm subscribing and will watch. Please show the back of the work more slowly so we can see exactly which strands you're carrying and which you drop. Am I right in thinking you carried the first yellow strand, the white accent strand, and the yellow working yarn? Three strands carried behind at one time? I'd be very interested to see how this translates in a piece with five or six colors in a single row. SUPER helpful even though I have so many questions! Thank you!
Hi and thank you for subscribing! The key with the multiple colors is only carrying it during the duration that you’re using that color and then dropping it until you need it again. The main color was always carried yes. The white was dropped as soon as I was done with it. I didn’t get a lot of interest regarding this hack so I’m not sure when I’ll do a more in depth with several colors because I recommended it for small projects . BUT , I will keep it in mind . I will be doing a tutorial regarding tapestry and intarsia crochet in the new year so I’ll play with this and see how this technique does with more color changes . I’m sorry that it wasn’t clear enough for you in this video 💕
@@PlayHookywithMe Thank you for the detailed reply. I will definitely be using the stitch variations in my next colorwork attempt. I will also mention this video in the Ravelry notes for my last colorwork item. I wish I had seen it before I started that one!
Hi there. 🙋🏻♀️ May I know the reason you pulled back the second colour until the last stitch of the next row, before you begin the pattern for that row? Hope that makes sense. 😅
Hi, I do have one question - do I run the strand of yarn all the way behind to the right if I am making a larger project with long stretches of one solid color? That’s the thing that confuses me. Thank you!
@@PlayHookywithMeThanks! I’m trying to get a project started, I’ve crocheted since I was in grade school but never tried anything like this. Can’t wait to get started! ❤
I love this but when I use it for tapestry it comes out a lot taller than the original pixel pattern like it looks stretched out. I'm going to adjust my pattern but any tips for making it stay the same shape or something im doing wrong
Gosh , well it’s mostly due to the extra thickness of yarn. What a shame. I have only used it for smaller projects so I can only offer and alternative way of working , which is doing a backward sc. Here’s a video to show you what I mean: th-cam.com/video/5XMKci5j_pg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FE_yVkJsPvXiMq3Y
When i did this, at the end where you pull thru 3 loops. That side is ending up taller than the rest of the project, did anyone else have this problem? How do i fix it?
Does this get harder if it’s a larger tapestry? I have a blanket I am working on. Uses 3 different colors and has a frog on it….any advice is appreciated!! The pattern is all single crochet but I really feel that the other colors stand out too much while being carried and would look odd with Back loop only…
You definitely don’t have to do back loop only with it. It helps straighten the image a little but definitely not necessary. I don’t always do it either. Carrying the main color of yarn on a large piece is doable but will expend a lot of yarn. I would recommend that you try a sample seat to see how you get on with it because it takes longer . See how it feels to work that way 💕😍
Won't your rows begin to lean, though? When you are working ITR, your stitches lean/migrate to the left. Seems like working rows all from the RS would result in a rhombus rather than a square.
That hasn’t been my experience, no. I use this for small projects (like I recommended in the video) so I can’t speak for larger projects. If I try it and that happens , I’ll be sure to add an addendum 🧶
hi! does this also work with a hdc? i'm making a bag and im using a tapestry design for the front of the bag and just plain hdc for the back. i already finished the back panel but im worried that the front panel would be a different size than the back panel if i use this technique 😭
I think it would work with hdc but I’d recommend not doing it since it might change the tension of the second panel. Wait for another project to experiment with it 💕
Omit the chain and see if you like that better. Just loosen up your tension there (pull the yarn up a little) to help You be able to work your first stitch. 👍🏻💕
I immediately noticed she is holding the crochet hook the way i used to hold it which is wrong. Bc if u hold ur hand under like a pencil then that can cause carpal tunnel, arthritis, etc. It’s best to hold ur hand above the handle/hook.
