I like it but love the book better.Don't get me wrong.The casts were great,especially alex,nora,henry and madam president.But I feel like the movie is rushed.I miss the small details from the book,like how they survived turkey calamity.What I love about the movie is that they let Alex's parents NOT divorce.
When a book is adapted into a movie everything can't fit into the script. They picked the best stuff and changed a couple of things and it worked. The same thing happened when "Roots" was turned into a movie and it lasted a week.
I also love the book, and I loved the movie, for an adaptation with little time it did very well, and indeed the cast is perfect. I hope it has a continuation and more things from the book can be adapted. ❤
For me, it's the ending of the movie that is weaker (much) than the book. The timing of Alex's speech would have caused an international incident with England and I prefer the book ending with Henry's mother becoming involved (not the time to introduce a new character in the film) and I would have loved to see a crowd wearing "History, huh?" T-shirts. Merch opportunity lost!
