I've been running a Compak K3 advanced for a few years now and rate it highly . And it isn't lacking a pause button as the timer range is small making it necessary to do to two pushes ,half doses giving you a chance to tap your portafiller and level your grinds .The K3 changes easily between course and espresso grind . Credit on your fair comparison

OK. Newb question. If one would want to grind for drip. What would I use to catch the grounds in? It looks like the porta filter holder would be in the way. Also, once I found my grind type, and how much coffee by weight I need for my everyday brewing. Is that where the timer comes into play? So I don't have to weigh my coffee everyday? Thanks for the help

To catch the grinds i use the plastic tray that is under the timer. I think it is designed to fit in the portafilter holder. About the timer, when you dial it to your preference, it will grind aproximately the same amount of coffee every time, i would say within a range of 0.5 grams, when grinding for espresso.

Looks like Eureka is sticking with this design where the coffee flies everywhere when grinding. Thankfully, this is quite easy to mod. The core of the grinder is superb.

that is the one annoying thing about the otherwise excellent grinder. I actually bought a mini-vac just to keep my grinder area messes under control. A small tray can help too. What is your mod?

      d thorne yeah, what mod?
I am having a hard time to decide between the eureka specialita and the Macap m4d. Love the eureka size and design but don’t want to compromise the grind quality.
      Any comments?

Probably talking about single dose mods. Replacing the hopper with a 3d printed mod or a 1in pipe along with a bellow to blow out retained grounds.
You could also take out the shut off gate and tape up the slot where coffee escapes from.

Both are infinitely adjustable, so they can both go coarser than one would ever want. Confused why you've denoted a difference in grind range when there isn't one.

is Compak K3 similar to Wega 58 ? I ever seen K3 with taller bean hopper, some says Wega but the others says it is Compak. Any explanation pls ?

that's the Compak K3 Advanced. It's pretty common as a commercial grinder for cafes and I proudly have one on my bench. Great grinder!

Sounds like something was wrong with that Specialita.

@rogue I got one myself now it doesn't seem to do that or sound like that maybe they improved on it but the hopper is still the weak point for sure. I get some chaff and small bean fragments leaking from the gate on neck of the hopper sometimes a bean will stay on it. These may just be issues related to single dosing. Single dosing mod with a bellows to push out retained grounds is definitely a good and easy mod for these!

The beans spilled in there; so, the bean hopper couldn't go all the way into machine.

It’s pronounced SPETCH-EEAH-LEE-TAH with the emphasis on the last syllable. There is NO ‘sh’ sound in the word at all.
