John, thank you for bringing me to that amazing museum! We moved to a smaller place so I can’t perform the restoration projects that I have completed in the past. Looking forward to your projects coming up. 👍👊
Guerciotti - Gwair-cho-tee (Paolo Guerciotti was a 'cross champ in Italy) DeRosa - De-roe-za. Frejus - Fray-juice. CIOCC - Say church without the R. Legnano - Len-yahn-no. Campagnolo - Kahm-pahn-yolo. Great bit, thanks for sharing - this guy's museum reminds me of the Vatican Museum...too many examples of the same thing. I keep thinking a good curator would choose the best example of each make/model/color to display and put the rest away in storage or sell 'em...but I'm no curator and have no museum, I just like to visit 'em. Before you die John, you need to make a pilgrimage to Italy and visit some of the fantastic museums there. There are plenty of 'em in northern Italy so you could visit a couple each day since they're not too far apart.
Im with you. We want to do Italy. We just got back from France. I didnt see much as far as classic bicycles there. It was a let down. As I said at the end of hte video. I met him while he was selling bikes. He didnt know bikes well. He was fixing up old huffy girls 10 speeds. he didnt like to part with them so he started collecting.
Dunno much about France but here in Italy one could start with the Museo Campionissmi in Novi Ligure and maybe hit the AcdB in nearby Alessandria the same day? There's a private museum nearby that I've yet to visit + Museo della Bicicletta near Savona. Then one could visit Museo Ghisallo and the new Colnago museum when it;s ready with maybe a visit to Masi at the Vigorelli and a stop at DeRosa on the same day? There's a lot of stuff on the ones I've visited on the CycleItalia blog, but I'm not done yet!@@JohnsVintageRoadBikeGarage
thanks a lot for posting this. I grew up not far from this town. My town also had a bicycle enthusiast like this, with a garage repair shop. No museum though. Keep up the great work. You ARE appreciated.
Thanks so much! going back there on Nov 11th to make a trade and drop off some bikes he purchased from a friend of mine. Probably going to do another video highlighting some bikes more closely!
Some old dude in my home town had a rod "suicide " shifter. I has an early cannondale mountain bike with the 24/26 wheel combination and those roller cam brakes. They worked good when they were clean, but it didn't take much to get them all messed up with dirt and mud. Bright yellow paint job. That's one I wish I still had.
Chesini: I wouldn't have heard of them either but about 4 years ago, Vintage Steel Bikes in Berlin had some 8 or 10 new old stock Chesini frames. I regret not buying one.
Have a look at Velosaloon in Austria - they have a number of Chesini frames for sale - i bought one a few years back and it is now fully restored with full Campagnolo Chorus/Record mix. They are really great bikes from a company which still makes bikes in Verona, Italy.@@JohnsVintageRoadBikeGarage
11:47 The joint between the head tube and the down tube seems not to be tight. Pressing the button may be able to separate the two, which can reduce the size of travel luggage.
John, what do you guess the value of this collection is? Understanding that this is truly a niche market. Very cool and thanks for sharing your visit with us.
John - Great great tour of all the road bikes. Fantastic. I’m in Florida, any tips on where I can see and go to find some vintage steel gems like this? Wow!!! Mike
I'm running out of old parts! My Trek frame snapped the downtube, the Suntour cyclone rd stripped the jockey cage pivot bolt, I just snapped my 6200 rd and i'm down to running SS on my Colnago super....with a dodgy BB ☹️....oh well, at least I'm not walking !👍
Hi, I can do my best to find out what it is. Send me detailed pictures of where all the tubes join together. Seat cluster, headlugs, brake bridge etc. I could put them on some forums and see if people could figure it out. MY Email is on the front page of my TH-cam page.
ever hear of the Elvish brand. my buddy had one when we where about 13, 14 back in the mid 80s, it was at least 20 years old then. ive never seen another one
In my opinion I think Gator skins are the best tire if you're looking for something durable with good traction and their relatively lightweight. They're not lightweight in compared to more of a racing tire but for his durable as they are they're not bad. Can't go wrong
@JJhabbs just replaced (74 Raleigh professional) the skins with panaracer pasela and what a difference! Those gatorskins make your bike spin like a slug! So the new question is: Do the Victoria corso's spin EVEN BETTER than the panaracer, or is it just a waste of money 💰?
é incrível como tem bicicleta de competição por tudo que é país , menos no brasil... aqui não tem essa variedade de marcas e nessa quantidade. se eu fosse rico ia viajar pela europa toda e pela america do norte só para trazer essas bicicletas . kkkk
@@JohnsVintageRoadBikeGarage I meant to say that here in Brazil there are none of the brands that are available in other countries. There are only two brands of racing bikes here and one of them doesn't even exist anymore. translate for Google.
Fantastic❤
Thanks 🤗
Paul should be recognized as an American Classic himself! Kind collectors & craftsman like him are what makes a good, important culture endure.

Like a kid in a candy shop. What an amazing bike museum.
Really like the rod shifter right off the derailleur
they called those suicide shifters. I dont know why? LOL

I have the same regret. One come up for sale at a bike swap close to town. I walked over $100.. I went back moments later and it was gone

Great stuff
Thanks!
Wow!
I also love orange, & I love black, & I absolutely love Japanese mechs.
Getting shot? Not so much.
Interesting comment.
WOW, even spotted a Raleigh Superbe/Sports..
I have a superb myself. I think I have a video of it somewhere on my channel

Not a clue. It would take hours to even just put a simple estimate! Since this video he has obtained another 100 bikes or so.
@@JohnsVintageRoadBikeGarage Amazing. Not sure how healthy that is but I agree with you, he has some amazing bikes.
Did you see any Serotta bikes at the museum?
Trying to remember. I dont recall. Did you see one in the video that I skipped over?
Any 7-eleven ones!
@@ralphc1405 but they would be labeled huffy?

There are some shops that supply them. But Id say for the most part ive purchased on Craiglist, facebook, ebay and bikeforums.net. happy hunting.
Have you been to the Bicycle Museum in New Bremen OH?
No. Not yet!

Another awesome video John and a fine example in how carbon bikes just don't mater.😊
Dont like those plastic bikes huh?
They have there place but just can't compete with a beautifully handed crafted vintage lugged frame.@@JohnsVintageRoadBikeGarage
I have one Guerciotti aluminium
Is it the one built by ALAN? Like this one ? th-cam.com/video/3b0s1-2kF5c/w-d-xo.html
have the same red one in stock but think it's vitus.

many nice vintage bikes just hanging in people's garages and often end up at metal recycling depots. unfortunately, shipping is no longer that cheap.
your camera work is making me dizzy
I gotta work on that!
