PLA isn’t needed, all 3 genies are available in swsh (tornadus/thundurus are version exclusive but both can be found using online, which is also missing from the money total)
In my experience, the major cost to playing VGC competitively isn't the monetary cost of paying for games and DLC, but the TIME SINK of hunting for IVs, Natures, items to CHANGE IVs and Natures, unless you want 0 Speed IV for Trick Room then you're S.O.L. Then you gotta meticulously plan EVs to cover certain matchups and survive specific attacks. It's a major hassle.
