two marginally important things: 1. sorry i sound so messed up in this video, im coming off of a gnarly cold and my throat was hurting bad. 2. porygon-z might sound like a stretch to call surprising, but in the context of ou it works imo. it really hadn't ever been better than e rank in DPP and is arguably worse than porygon 2 from gens 4-6. this really was unexpected.
That level diff is the ONLY factor though, which really shows that the darn thing needs a buff. Not an evolution, just a straight up buff, its unnecessarily pathetic

I think Z-Conversion is super cool cause you can change Porygon-Z’s type to Ghost, Ice, Electric, etc. for Adaptability boosted Shadow Ball, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, etc. I love it so much!

A sun setter and any non-sun setting Sunflora set in randbats is a 100% win condition. Also shoutout to Delibird that manages to still be one of the worst mons despite also being set to level 100.

As someone who’s competitive experience is exclusively within random formats (i peaked around 430 in randbats, 40 in randbats blitz, and 200 in randbats monotype this gen) god i fucking love sunflora. turning a shitty stupid flower into a nuclear bomb is what makes this format so good. just the threat of sunflora is scary enough, if you can switch it in it’s either forcing a switch out or killing something 90% or the time

speaking of mons that become broken in randbats, Gogoat is the absolute bane of my existence its insanely bulky and runs bulk up milk drink, it can run away with games quickly its stats are insanely high, it managed to tank a LO STAB Fire Blast from Blaziken without teraing if it teras it's even more frustrating to kill lol
I love running orthworm with leftovers, subtitute, iron defense, body press and tera electric. If you can get it set up it does insane damage and doesnt have any weakness because of earth eater
Sunny Day + Chlorophyll Sunflora as a Late Game Cleaner is my favorite set to use in Random Battles. It cleans so easily, it almost reverse swept my opponent when I was about to lose 5-0.
Random battles giving me specs/life orb/AV Sunflora along with a sunny day setter or a trick room reuniclus, feels like buying illegal nukes from a shady nuke vendor.
you forgot to mention something about Sunflora which makes it even scarier: Sunny Day + Chrollophyll + Tera Fire. now you have a mon with top speed and two stabs of 100+ bp, namely Weather Ball and Solar Beem
i remember back when gen 5 was current some dude came up with a pretty cool sunflora ou team. sun trick room, it has solar power with hp ice + earth power is pretty cool and encore is cute. it is probably the best mon to support with the combo of sun + trick room, and not being worried about heatran on sun is... actually pretty cool. obviously this is still not very good - sun has been fringe in OU almost the entire time, trick room is pretty fringe in almost all singles metas, and putting the two together is just way too demanding, especially when the payoff is just a sunflora. that being said, still pretty heat, and i like that u can run it with like a victini too with sun boosted vcreates that only make you "faster" in trick room lol.
speaking of randbats, i played doubles randbats a while back one of the mons that i never wanna see again is LUVDISC, it's level 100 and so it has a very fast charm, and becomes surprisingly bulky with that level difference too
Is there a reason Porygon-Z doesn't Convert into Ice or Electric after using its Z-Move? That's how I used to run it back in the Battle Tree, I'd use Z-Conversion then turn to a Ghost type to get STAB Shadow Ball
oh wait you're right. it would convert, which is why it doesn't run stab. the set is still worse than z-hyper beam but yeah the mechanic works that way.

You said unless its like cascoon but mega cascoon in the rom hack elite redux is by far the hardest pokemon battle of any game (mainline, rom hacks, spin-offs, competitive) by a mile.
Please Gamefreak I am begging you to buff Sunflora just a little bit. Just add +10 to its SpA and let it learn Heat Wave and Nasty Plot. It would still be bad but not abysmal
I wish Lurantis was a competitive pokemon surprise 🥲 It’s actually funny enough, a strong parallel to Sunflora in a lot of ways (even sunkern and fomantis are rly similar), but I don’t think it’s good in randbats LOL 😭 Jokes aside, love these videos so much. The amount of fun you clearly have making them shines through rly hard. You could be 4 years down the line scraping through the history of Oddish in gen 5 little cup and I’ll still be invested 💯

All grass types should be able to learn Earth Power imo, like how water types learn Ice Beam, and fire types learn Solar Beam.
