Your toy truck is an old fire truck from round the 1950's. My brother had one very similar to that one when we were little. I've been watching you for about a year now. Besides your cool finds I really enjoy your videography. That half the reason I watch your vlogs. Keep sharing and God bless.
I love it when you have Chris or Eddy with you! Chris had me laughing when he tried to cover up his. There’s really nothing funnier than a guy screaming like a little girl when they have a bug on their face 😅😂. Love your reactions with each other! Thanks for the video’s!!
Just seeing and hearing about the insects was worth the watch. The wiggly worm in the one hole was neat too. The anticipation of maybe seeing a bear was good too. I like the key and the finds in general. Stay safe.
Brad and Chris, this weeks finds just so so. But the time spent on a wonderful day together with friends is astronomical and life enriching in memories. Chuck in NJ
Ah, good ole yellow jackets...or, "yellah jackets", as we call them down here. I always find their nests with lawnmowers. It's truly a sight to behold lol.
Great one as always. Ground yellow jackets are the worst. They love overturned earth. I was digging a rustler's settlement of about 4 homes from the depression era. No one had ever dug there, and I was finding tons of stuff. I had my coil on its side and it was soft black dirt, and I was digging with my hands and taking a handful and moving it in front of the coil. I was really into it and looked at my hands and it dawned on me that both of my hands and arms were solid black and yellow clear up to my elbows. Took 15 minutes to very carefully remove those bees without me getting excited to give my fear scent to them.
Eastern yellow jackets. This year has been really bad with them. The warm winter of 2019-2020 allowed allot more of them to survive so there are a whole bunch of nests this summer
I 2nd that they are bad. First time I’ve had yellow jacket nest. 2 years in a row. Before that never never had them. I found the first nest. Got stung all over my ankles and back of legs. Next year . My husband was attacked all over his hands n arms
Love the video as always! The toy fire truck is probably a “Tootsietoy” die cast item, it could be pre-war or post war I would have to check my catalogs. They switched to plastic in the mid-1950’s and were the largest die cast toy maker of the 20th century.
Brad...you asked ratio of vinegar and sugar in pickles... 3 cups sugar...3 1/2 cups vinegar...... Also add turmeric, mustard seed, celery seed, allspice...play with the spices to get the flavor you are looking for..you can also add garlic... Good luck
Pay some attention to the shotshells you find. The Robin Hood Powder Co. started in 1904 in Swanton, VT. In 1906 they started making ammunition under the name Robin Hood Ammunition Co. In 1915 they sold out to Remington Arms. Robin Hood marked powder cans and the ammunition boxes and the RH head stamped shell are highly sought after by cartridge collectors. Even in bad condition. They never made a huge amount of ammo and distribution was limited mostly to the NE. Very little Robin Hood marked items are found in good condition.
This is fantastic trivia. My building I currently work at is on Robin Hood Lane in Swanton. Probably not a coincidence. I’ve been detecting for just a few months, but now this gives me something else to hunt. Thank you.
@@stephentracy7509 If you google Robin Hood Ammunition/ Powder Co. you will find several sites with photos then and now of the production facility as well as historical info. Well you ended the day with great finds. The country is green and plush, I enjoyed it today! The historian, photographer, metal detector... Just the best!
Brad I think the little toy is supposed to be a little fire truck with the hoses layed out in the bed for easy deployment. Thanks for another wonderful video...
Skunks love the nests of yellow jackets! If you are inclined, carry a small spray bottle of Dawn dish soap and water, you can wipe out the whole nest with it, as soon as it touches them they start dying, then the skunk can have a feast!
The hunk of slate with the attached quartz that you set your bounty on is beautiful. Probably some flint mixed in there too. Detecting around some of the old slate quarries in western Vermont might be interesting.
I'm sure you're familiar with the big brown grasshoppers [locust] that fly .. many years ago a girl I was dating and I were going down a country gravel road with the windows down on my '63 Chevy Impala when one flew into her window and got all tangled up in her long blonde hair. I can still see and hear her thrashing around wildly and screaming at the top of her lungs. There are a few times in my life that I probably shouldn't have laughed out loud at something and that was definitely one of them though I did pull over and untangle the 'vicious little beast' from her hair which wasn't easy because she was hysterical and didn't settle down until I could produce all of the pieces. The legs [with the little barbs on them] were the most difficult. lol

I live on our family ranch. We have 12K acres that has been in my family since 1872. I'm taking my metal detector out to play today. I'm the ONLY person aloud to use metal detectors out here. Unless your with me, your not using a detector out here. The Wells Fargo stage coach cut through the ranch at one time in the 1800's and it just happens to be 100 yards from my house. There are big flat rocks planted in the ground that look like tombstones along the route. I found out later they are stage coach stops. That's where I'm going today! Maybe after I'll go down to the creek where there is a big cowboy boot carved in a rock. This rock is approx 100 miles from the State Capitol in Austin Texas. There's legend that bandits would hide their loot within a 100 miles of state capitols... I can't quit thinking about it! My great grandfather has some cool story's of him being robbed on stage coaches back in the day... If I find something I'll mention it in the comments of your next video! I love metal detecting and I've been doing it for years. My great uncle lost a Volkswagen hubcap in the creek in the late 1950's. I found it a couple years ago & its hanging in the barn... Good luck & have fun!
I’m intrigued by the 4 frame like things you found. They look like they were meant to look like bamboo. Wish you had held it longer so I could see it..
You didn't talk about one of the finds @ 18:15 . Either a bell or a candle sniffer. I've found some fragments of bells shaped similar to that on a horse trail near me.
You can kill bees or wasps with soapy water. The soap breaks down their body oils, allowing water to get on to their lungs. BTW, I worked at Gardner metal detector factory in Phoenix. I was in my twenties at the time so it was all fun and his design was way ahead of the competition. It would detect a BB at 12”.
My sisters husband turned over a pretty good size rock on their land and was stung about twenty times by ground hornets. Luckily he got to the emergency room quickly because he was in pretty bad shape. Turns out he was allergic to the venom. He now carries on of those pins to inject his self if it happens again. Stay safe and better luck next hunt.

Yellow jackets in missouri are huge and yes they will chase you!
Epipen is the word you are looking for. Every first aid kit should have one. Blessings, Dot
Dot Cassilles Thank you.
Thanks for a break from other things going on.
What you found that looks somewhat like a "reed" is in fact a cigar holder, sold and used in the 1920s. Even sold in cigar stores just after the 2nd World War.
