Smelt it down into 1 oz ingots and sell randomly to various gold bullion buyers & brokers , thus not unloading in one place , and of course tell no one , not even wife or family as gold does NASTY things to friends & families.
@lapidary70 oh wow, your own lease is great. I also have my own lease. Doesn’t provide my gold other but does provide a location to base myself and a great family camping spot.
The best kept secret is the one that only you know. If you have the urge to tell someone, stand in front of a mirror and tell it to yourself (with your spy phone) on the other side of the house with music playing in between.
I showed a mate an 11 gram specimen, he already knew the area I was detecting, five vehicles attempted to access the spot before I could get back out there 3 days later.
A very large gold nugget is sometimes worth about 2x or 3x gold spot price, but unfortunately if it is melted down by the finder then it is worth ‘just under’ the gold spot price because by subtracting the silver, copper, and refining fees.
You need to get acquainted first with someone who buys gold but also one who wont rip you off and/or set you up for "other things". Once you got that figured out then go and find your gold.
I’m in my 60s. When in my late teens I found an out of the way trout pond with big…5-20 lb trout and of course little ones too. It was fed from a river and was hard to get to. I told my one best friend I would take him provided he promised not to tell anyone. So we went fishing. Then the very next time I went I couldn’t even find a place to park and the little pond was empty. Do not tell anyone no matter how good of a friend.
Generally, right after I find a huge gold nugget, I wake up. If I find an actual massive nugget, I will release the following information... " ██████████████████████████ ".
A few years ago I found a big one in Daylesford VIC and sold it in Ballarat for $16,000. And another one on my way to Portland. Is Gold prospecting is now illegal in Victoria ?
Man, I told everyone but yeah, it definitely was in a well flogged area & I even took some newbies there for them to have a crack at gold detecting. If I found it in a non flogged area, I would have said it was the flogged area.
Great video bud. People don't want you to fail, they just don't want you doing better than them. Fuck telling anyone except the buyer that melts it down
The only difference between a big gold nugget, and a molded bar of gold is about 1000 degrees...where did I find it? Why, panning in creek on my land, of course...it was lots of little gold nuggets...
I have watched the 'Prospector Story' in 'The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs' a six part 'short movie series' and is short No 4 - 'All Gold Canyon'. I now know what to do if I find a big nugget of gold.
If you find one, take note of the type of soil it's in,how deep it is and its location relative to unmovable obstructions it will most likely have a few friends 🍻
Gold has a DNA signature and most likely after an assay will be linked to an area. Fill your holes well and sprinkle some leaves 😉. Come on big nugget, I wouldn't mind finding out the rigmarole behind cashing in a million dollar ( bit ). Cheers

Yep, my thoughts exactly. I talk about what gold can do to people in an upcoming video. 👍 Best of luck for 2025.
Lastly I always prospect alone in very remote areas , even though I have a full-time PL/EL that pays me a livable wage .

Some large nuggets command a very substantial premium over just weight.
Melting down a one of a kind gold nugget = a massive loss in value.
Bad advice
Great advice Matt,
I’ve seen lifelong friendships dissolve overnight when tiny gold nuggets have been found.
Thanks mate. I have heard similar stories. People that still hold grudges over it. Gold does funny things to people.
I’m gonna use this point in my next video. Thanks.
DONT TELL ANYONE
Yep my thoughts exactly 👍
I'll 3rd that motion haha

Spot on. Well said and happy new year.
I showed a mate an 11 gram specimen, he already knew the area I was detecting, five vehicles attempted to access the spot before I could get back out there 3 days later.
It happens all the time, I have been guilty of this. 😂 But have now learnt to keep it quiet.🤫
A very large gold nugget is sometimes worth about 2x or 3x gold spot price, but unfortunately if it is melted down by the finder then it is worth ‘just under’ the gold spot price because by subtracting the silver, copper, and refining fees.
It if it was a BIG gold nugget, I’m not sure I would be too worried about it. 😂👍
When you find some, say nothing. When you don't find any, say even less!
Absolutely spot on mate. 👍

Thanks for the tips. 👍 Best of luck in 2025
What nugget

@randalhampton2966 I dropped a ring off my finger last week, in this spot and seeing if I can find it , it's very sentimental to me
😂👍

This is great. Exactly 👍
Pizzaro said to Montezuma " My men have a sickness of the heart, and the only cure is gold"
Love it, thanks for sharing. I totally agree.👍
I wouldn't smelt it down. A large nugget brings more cash value than ingots. As for telling anyone? No, flat out no.
Great tips thanks and happy new year 👍
@TerraRangerGold happy new year

Never tell anybody. Don't do like that idiot in California did."Gold!!!!!Gold at Sutter's Mill!!!!"
I'd go," Mine!........All mine!!!"
Not familiar with the story. But yes keep it quiet for sure 👍
@@TerraRangerGold the guy that started the California Gold Rush was who I was referring to. Hope you find a ton
Ok cheers mate. Best of luck for 2025!
Release it so it can breed more for future generations.
If only it was that easy. 😂👍⚒️

They’d be nice problems to have, I guess I’ll cross those bridges when I come to them. One day mate…one day. 😂
It will happen one day mate. 👍 Best of luck for 2025
Don't tell anyone . . .
Yep that’s what I reckon. Happy new year 🥳
