Paul Van Dyk played our track on Vonyc sessions a few years back, it was an honor to be recognized by such a legend and pioneer for our scene. Thank you Will for this wonderful discussion
I remember taking a girlfriend to see Paul van Dyk for the first time and she said “he took us to church”. In hindsight that show was probably one of the only times I can remember a set like that. Cheers Will and thanks for all the music Paul.
Electronic music is old enough now where we have generations that simply don’t know what happened in the 90’s, even 2000’s, so now there is a segment of producers doing the re-models he described, and making a great living, and in some ways it’s the new black, as you ultimately said. Doesn’t make you like it any more or less. 😂
Took a listen to that Legend tune, 100% trance, confirmed, vocals and all 😂. As for the genres, it’s just the business and the music is such a tiny part of the modern go to market strategy, this is just the manifestation of that.
I was brought up listening to trance. My mum’s favourite track was ‘for an angel’. Fast forward to 2015, I seen PVD live at edc uk and he blew my mind, the stand out track for me was ‘city of sound’. That was the day I decided to go all in on being a DJ.❤
funny, i've heard adam beyer's set from time warp last week and was thinking to myself "this could be a paul van dyk set". his sound nowadays is absolutely is more trance than techno.

The retirement section was epic. “Well, the year is already crammed” 😂 go Paul.
WTF, his pre gig routine is literally same as mine, except I eat a banana and a granola bar or the Red Bull annoys my stomach that’s just funny 😂
Outstanding episode, great closing question, time to get to work 🤙🏽
Great show. Just found it recently. Looking forward to digging into the back catalog.

Think it would be phenomenal to have Paul back on in the future! Great job Will!
Saw Paul at DS in Leeds last week. Brilliant show and the music is still as good as it was back in 98 when I first saw him. Great interview😊👏🏻✌🏻
Get Adam Beyer on the podcast & propose a PVD collab 🙌
