    About 20 years ago I held onto a boat anchor and let it carry me to the bottom of a shallow lake. I unintentionally learned the burst pressure of my inner ear. I could feel liquid inside my ear and couldn't hear clearly for weeks. 😕

      @@SciJoy Thx! I wish graphene baloons were standard. Off I would go! They wouldn't leak that expensive helium either.

    Followup information from one of the original HabHub creators:
    "Re: ascent rate. Here are the ascent rate profiles for 3 identical flights (same payload, balloon and fill) - as you can see they are pretty different. Identical Flights (www.flickr.com/photos/16828840@N07/sets/72157668632631187)
    I think unless you can predict which profile your going to get your probably better off not over-complicating the modeling.
    Re: scale height vs air density model - your correct it's similar. But the air density model value is empirically derived from balloon data and includes factors like the constraining effect of the latex envelope."
