    Your "IQ" test needs the help of someone with a higher IQ. Some of the questions give the wrong letters for the associated answers.

    IQ tests require “no previous knowledge “ and questions about grammar and knowledge of the meaning of traditional sayings disqualify this “test “ from being an IQ test. Call it something else or delete it.

    I got a very disappointing 13 right answers . The question is, how do you translate this into an actual measurement of IQ ?
    I think probably the person who abandons this fiasco of a "test" after 4 or 5 questions is the most intelligent of us all .

      +SuperEmittThank you for your reply . Yes, I know I got 65% (equivaent to 130/200 etc.) correct but since measurements of IQ are *not* expressed as percentages how can I get an idea of what it would be otherwise ? I took many standard IQ tests in the past - tests that lasted for up to one and a half hours - and the highest score I achieved was 128 . Do people's IQ's decline with age ? I am heading for 60 so maybe I am losing my touch just a little bit, lol ?

    • @fabuloussamurai8426
      @fabuloussamurai8426 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, that's not quite right. Folding them inwards would result in the patterns being on the inside of the cube, leaving the outside presumably blank. Though it's possible the other sides aren't blank but instead have their own patterns, giving us a cube of unknown design and making all the answers equally viable. But maybe not. Who knows?

    • @markmarine8841

      Outward is always the standard way to format a cube and the left side or longer end of the net (“blue paint version of the cube”) is always going to be the top of the cube going down

      If the images were translucent and you could see the colours from either side of the diagrams, then no matter if you folded the sides upwards or downwards you're going to have the exact same result. Everything will be exactly opposite either way.

    I got 17 right, those unfolded cube questions at the end really threw me. For the question that was 4852/4 × 3 = the order of Operations (P.E.M.D.A.S.) is applicable. The quiz's answer of 3639 IS correct. The rule is:
    1st - Parentheses
    2nd - Exponents
    3rd - Multiply or Divide
    (solve from left to right)
    4th- Addition or Subtraction (solve from left to right)
    Because the 2 processes in this equation are multiplication and division, both processes are on the third level of the PEMDAS order of operations, Then the equation must be solved from left to right, with the division part done first and the multiplication part done second.
    It would look this:
    4852/4 × 3 = a
    (4852/4) × 3 = a
    (1213) × 3 = a
    3639 = a
    answer is 3639.

    Din’t read all of the comments, so it’s possible someone already pointed this out. The IQ test was originally designed as a method of predicting the likelihood of a child continuing past grade school and succeeding at the University level. As such, the larger the vocabulary that child has, the more proficient in math at that age, and the more flexible the child’s thought processes were (such as the spatial perception questions), the more likely that child would continue to learn and succeed in the diverse courses at the University level. Comparisons of IQ between two individuals are only valid if they received the same exposure to information and challenges. I got all 20. I also had good teachers.

      Your IQ should not increase or decrease from education. Your IQ stays relatively the same your whole life - or at least it should, if you're tested properly. Having a high IQ doesn't mean you will be successful. In fact, many very intelligent people aren't successful because their intelligence makes them lazy, and they are often introverts that don't excel in social settings. They have proven time and time again that discipline and self control, especially as a child, is the number one marker of a person who will succeed.

THEY then get bored of HIM...and just knock him sideways, proving that after all these years, he may be pretty damned intelligent but not smart enough to realise, he has zero TACT...and obviously regularly pays the price for it.

      I'm so happy to hear that you are doing so well after all you have gone through. Often, our perceptions of our own capabilities are the result of others' judgements of us and all it takes is someone to tell us we are not stupid. I had teachers telling me my capabilities showed I should follow my dream and go to college to become a teacher. I was in all the gifted classes throughout elementary and junior high because I scored around 145 on the IQ test in fourth grade. But when I was in high school an outside agency (Protestant Welfare Services) took the top 3 kids in the school and offered them a little bit of money every month for "cultural enrichment". The catch was they wanted to test us and do career counseling with us. I felt very awkward when I went to take the test and did poorly. As a result, they sat down with me and told me I wasn't college material. I would have to work too hard to try and keep up and I would be lucky to get C's. They said I wasn't smart enough to be a teacher, or a journalist, or a lawyer, as I had said I dreamed of being. I would be much better as a secretary or a file clerk. I went back to my teachers and told them everyone had been lying to me all my life telling me I was gifted. The teachers were very angry and held a meeting telling us not to pay attention to what the people said. They knew their students better than a one time test. But it was so devastataing to me that it took me 6 years before I went to college and if I ever got a C I would have jumped off a building. At the beginning of every class I thought is this the teacher who will find out I don't belong in college. I never got a C. Graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Wasn't till many years later when I was telling me older sister about that and she said they did the same thing to her. So I learned not to let the numbers on a test predict anything. It took many years for me to have confidence in my own abilities.

    Interesting that so many commenters have decried the validity of the questions. Turns out they ARE valid. One (the question with the lines and dots) had double-right answers or duplicates in the possibilities. That's poor form.
    None-the-less, the geometric fold-the-box questions are hard. Maybe not so hard for a young facile mind, but not easy for a 60 year old's!

    • @robertlynch7520
      @robertlynch7520 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If there is one area of psychology (or sociology) which has been more studied, I don't know what that would be. IQ testing has a huge, long, detailed and MUCH debated history of discourse and self-censoring.
      The "problem" is that the only things that can be tested with static IQ tests is recognition of the "language of patterns". For instance, a box with 1 ball, then 3 balls, then 1 stick, then a blank ... what fits in it?" (without words, just pictures) is still asking the subject to interpret the language-of-patterns presented by the pictoral "problem". Culture -- education, lack of it, society around you, experience, nervousness, concentration, and yes IQ -- are all involved with whether the subject will "get it" and then induce the expected answer in response.
      Even the testing "technology" has a "language of expectation" issue. Whereas a bright but totally uneducated girl in the Namib desert might correctly guess "3 sticks" if balls and sticks were placed on the ground in front of her, looking at a piece of paper having balls and sticks ... is quite a leap. And in boxes? What's that about?
      As I started to say, "the problem" is that competent IQ testing must at many levels make some assumptions about what the "language of testing" allows in its minimum subset. Does it require the subjects to conjure answers, then fill in little oval dots on a scoring form? That requires abstracting that the "number" of the question corresponds to the "number" on the scoring form. And that one shouldn't circle the answer, but fill in the dot. And so on.
      Its like the ballots in 3rd world countries: one might be allowed just to circle line drawn pictures of the candidates instead of reading their names. As so many of the public is functionally illiterate. Proud to vote, but without the skills to read the forms.
      IQ testing is exactly beset with the same "socioeconomic bias". But if one is testing people hoping to enter college ... at least in most parts of the world, there is an expectation that the candidate will have the skills to read, to manipulate paper, to hold a pen, to fill in little dots, to abstract question numbers and dot lists, and so on. Because if one's prior education wasn't sufficient to accomplish that... well... college isn't a likely option.

    SORRY but this is not an IQ test. It is a memorization test based on whether you recall how you were told something should be. An IQ test presents you with a choice that is unique to you and challenges your ability to think through it. Knowing what is correct in a spelling Bee is not the same as understanding spacial units or comprehending complex patterns you have never come upon before.
    A child may recall how to spell Mississippi yet not be able to find their way out of a maze. Memorization is one thing. Intelligence quotient is another.

    Right, SALMAN AHMED! A real IQ test is only accurate and real, if it is NOT dependent upon a specific language. (You just have to understand the language to the degree to understand the instructions)
    But it seems to be to hard to understand for "some" people who are not aware of the fact that the Dollar is not the only currency and that 22 times more other people think differently that the 300 Million US Americans - which 80% of them think nothing at all - they just watch TV.... Nice try in this Video and most of the questions are really very good IQ testing. Made 14 ... and lost all the questions about ENGLISH related problems. But this doe not count if English is not your mother tongue . Still enjoyed it! Thanks

    In the unfolded cube tests, there is in fact, more then 1 answer, because you will get a different pattern if you are folding it inwards (towards you) or outwards (away from you). It can also be said, when the unfolded pattern is shown, it is flat and laid out at a right angle, but once folded, most are viewed sideways, so with that said, ALL answers could be correct, because once it is folded, it can be placed at different angles, then the angle that is shown for the answer. Turn it right, left, up or down, and all options given are correct!
    But, as always, that's just my opinion! :)))

    • @dontpanic1812
      @dontpanic1812 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      (Pamela) Yeah, that seems to be the consensus here. It is odd they didn't provide any scale for our scores. This may just be some data mining scheme. It likely isn't phishing, though.
      Based on other tests and scales, we can estimate how well we did:
      18 to 20-- Genius/140+
      15 to 17-- Brainiac/130-139
      12 to 14-- Plenty Smart/120-129
      9 to 11-- Average
      8 or less--Below Average (Hit the Books More)
      Exact scores would be really great. I mean, especially for those in the 140+ category. Can they say they have a 180 IQ? 220 for a perfect score? Or just 140?
      Maybe, if we write to the author(s) for a scale to calculate results, we'll have more concrete answers.

      #2)Pat Downs, I'm sorry to inform you, but , if you didn't get any of these right, you surely are not a genius. You win some you lose some.

Missed the division/multiplication one in the middle, too, like a dolt. The one that went x/y*z. Without parentheses, I thought multiplications still came first, but i guess in this case, we were supposed to just read and calculate left to right w/o any of those rules. Or maybe, division precedes multiplication in order of importance. Dunno.... The only other one i missed was the "rolling stone gathers no moss" one.
      So, 17 out of 20 for me. And, i had to pause quite a few of them (especially the folding boxes) to work them out.

In this question the multiplication IS part of the fraction so you would have multiply first. If you got 404.3*, you got it right. I mean just type the equation as written into the calculator and you will get 404.3*. This guy either can't right questions properly or doesn't understand math.

    I got 19/20 correct; question four was used as a filter?
    I got the first few since they dealt with word structure (I knew appendices already).
    Question 5: B,C and D made absolutely no sense.
    Question 6: The smaller shape in the upper corner was the key.
    Question 7: The sequence was divide by three then multiply by two
    Question 8: I copped out and chose D because the other answer types were never shown in the sequence and D could complete a sequence pattern
    Question 9: answer A didn't make sense: the blue dot was in a different position so it shouldn't result as the same as the second square. Answer B didn't fit because of how the first and second squares behaved sequencially. Answer C wasn't chosen because it made less sense than Answer D.
    Question 10: This one was tougher as every answer was viable. You could've said the dot sequence was to separate them into three's and have every position at, above or under the line; Or, the dot is sequencially moving up and down the line through all six, the latter made the most sense. A and D are not the same if you look closely at the little hash mark under the diagonal line. D fit the pattern of every one.
    Question 11: Fill in all positions that contained black dots
    Question 12: I ruled A and C out immediately, but I wasn't sure about the whole decimal comma negative thing. Answer B only made sense as 345,000, even if you transpose the commas with decimals. D made the most logical choice when compared to B. However, the answer changed and included a comma instead of a decimal (this answer still would've made the most sense)
    Question 13: This answer is incorrect. Tomorrow is Tuesday, so today is Monday. No matter how many weeks you add or take away, it'll be a Monday. I subtracted 14 from 15 (14 is 2 weeks) and got 1. The wording said WAS it, so the answer should be Sunday. They used Monday but added 1 day instead of subtracting it. The correct wording should be WILL. I saw their mistake and chose the most logical solution.
    Question 14: Simple math precedence and shortcuts:
    16 * 63 - 1214 = (6 *63) + 630 - 1214 = 63 + 945 - 1214 = 1008 - 1214
    Addition is faster for me so:
    206 + 1008 = 1214
    1008 - 1214 = -206
    To get 945 I halved 630 and got 315, then added them together.
    Question 15: Same as question 14
    I took 48 and 52 and divided by 4, then squeezed them together for some quick math:
    4852 \ 4 * 3 = 12 13 * 3 = 1213 * 3 = 3639
    Question 16: Find a point of reference and compare to the answer.
    Question 17: 6 faces (think of a dice) + 4 on the inside. Even an odd shape is still considered a face.
    Question s 18 and 19: Just like 16, pick an origin point
    Question 20: The bottom row is the result of filling in all the places a black triangle appeared in that column.
    Hopefully this clears up some questions.

    This was a ridiculous gag. Multiple given answers are wrong, and speaking as someone who has taken an actual IQ test, this was not an IQ test so much as a mish-mash of ridiculous questions with an incredible variability in difficulty that are, for the most part, questions not measuring actual aptitude but instead something more along the lines of rote ability to exemplify knowledge that is exclusively gained through being taught that specific fact without having to be taught why or how. None of the questions are “real IQ test questions” as claimed. Real IQ tests force you to actually use logic to solve seemingly simple problems a lot more often. In addition, there’s no scoring brackets at the end and no information about the watcher’s IQ, not even a simple ballpark estimate. This video frankly disgusts me.

    In LATIN if a word ends in u s, to make it plural you drop the u s and add an I. Cactus= cacti. The word octopus is NOT a Latin word. It's Greek. That law of plural does not apply to words from the Greek, therefore a bucket full of those eight legged creatures are octopuses. In Latin they would be octopeds.

    Octopi would make the word of latin origin, Which is simply not fact. Octopuses is the plural of an Octopus (and the correct answer), but if you want to be pedantic and play the origins game, then the plural would be Octopodes as it is of Greek origin. Thumbs down from me.

    • @ZenChiVis
      @ZenChiVis 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sam L for this typically latin is used because latin is thought of as an origin or root language with having certain portions standing for numerical meaning within it like the toras and tori as well as pi as you said with octopi that actually is a term people will more typically use in a more proper formatting as it is both a number counter and shorter in form.

    • @TheFarmanimalfriend
      @TheFarmanimalfriend 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It is octopi, which is fact.

    • @istoppedthecar
      @istoppedthecar 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Octopuses is correct. The word derives from the Greek Oktopous rather than Latin, so Octopi can't be used. Oktopodes would be the technically correct plural if the word hadn't been latinised. The use of Octopi is a persistent error, but an error nonetheless.

    • @chadwaldron6329
      @chadwaldron6329 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its the Latin form, with "us" third declension I believe so plural would be "I."

    • @istoppedthecar
      @istoppedthecar 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, as far as I know, it was adopted into scientific nomenclature from the Latin, which kept the word alive long after Latin had died out as a first language. The word itself, though, still derives from Greek. It was Anglicised after that, and now has the English plural form of "es" added to describe more than one octopus. Some pedantic academics still insist on the correct original plural form "octopodes" (pronounced Ok-TOP-oh-deez) but most don't bother and default to the newer English version, as they do with other words such as "viruses". Technically, "octopuses" is as incorrect as "octopi" but the former is now the accepted form. If a mistaken usage becomes popular enough, though, it can be regarded as acceptable even if not correct. Thanks to things like social media and TH-cam, this process seems to be accelerating, so that uninformed usage of phrases like "begs the question" and words such as "chauvinist" is rapidly redefining them by mistake.

    27 9 18 6 12 4... this is question 7. With the formula being based on 3 how could the answer be 8? 3x9 27 3x6 18 3x4 12 so the logical answer would be 6 since the only options were 5 6 7 8. As in 3x2 6 so to complete the formula it would be 27 9 18 6 12 4 6 2.... Is this not correct?

    • @ginger1lad

      Funny thing, I looked at it and saw: 27 - 9 = 18 - 6 = 12 - 4 = 8 ...
      And if it were to continue I would have guessed that after 9 (- 3 =), 6 (- 2 =), 4 (- 1 =)....3. Then it would be 27 9 18 6 12 4 8 3 5 and then I'm lost hehe.
      Probably just got lucky with coincidence!

      (ATB) Not stupid, just not good at pattern recognition i suspect. Like the "octopi v. octopuses" debate above, many of the answers are also open to interpretation whether one takes a Latin or Greek origin and then tries to justify that with common usage (which often uses a wrong/bastardized version). So, you shouldn't feel dumb or anything.
