Chris, you need a standing ovation. Not only are you super brave to go to Tivoli by yourself, but really noble in your quest to find positivity there. The residents appear to be super welcoming and willing to move past the negative stigma plaguing this community. It was good to see the warmth people gave you from this video, even tho it was interrupted when you were told to put down the camera In the past things were so much worse in Tivoli, the early 2010s in particular. Since then, there have been many infrastructural improvements and repairs, with barely any signs of a civil war. Coupled with the fact that you were able to enter and exit safely, this could be a sign of things changing for the better. I may not know why that one man told you to cut the footage, but the inner cities of Downtown Kingston really need more positive outlooks like this.

For the sake of clarity, Chris, please allow me... (i) The murals begin at 7:50 with Mighty Might (I don't know him-- my guess is that he may have been a popular sound system operator); the Skatalites was a legendary foundation Ska band and Lloyd Brevett was their bass player; the “Reggae Legends” photos are the original Wailers showing Neville Livingston (aka Bunny Wailer), Bob Marley and Winston McIntosh (aka Peter Tosh); Edward Seaga of the JLP is who built Tivoli Gardens; Clement Dodd (aka Sir Coxone), major music producer and Studio One owner from foundation times up well into the 2000's; Prince Buster (née Cecil Campbell), major foundation singer and producer up to the late 1970's. (ii) 9:00-- May Pen cemetery (not connected to the town of May Pen in Clarendon parish) has to be the oldest cemetery in Jamaica, existing from the 19th century; Don Drummond, famous trombonist of the said Skatalites, is buried there too. (iii) 13:51, the national heroes-- Nanny of the Maroons (rightly 'Nana', an original Akan/Asante term meaning 'Chief'), led her people against the British until her death in 1733, operated in the east and was the first maroon organiser that we know of; Sam Sharpe was hanged in 1832 for organising slaves on several St James plantations to rebel and kill the slavers; Paul Bogle led the Morant Bay Rebellion of 1865; George William Gordon was a mulatto and sitting member of the house of representatives, a black rights sympathiser who supported Paul Bogle (both Bogle and Gordon were hanged); Marcus Garvey's story is known internationally, so I'll just point out that he is revered as a prophet by the Rastafarians because of his accurate prediction of the coming and enthroning of Haile Selassie in 1930; Alexander Bustamante (née Alexander Clark) founded the JLP and was the inaugural PM after Independence; Norman Washington Manley was the founder of the PNP, the first indigenous political party, and was Chief Minister before Independence. NB:- In the discussion with your host, both of you are mistaken: Michael Manley, son of Norman, was the PM of which you spoke. And you should be aware that you were in an overwhelmingly JLP area and so opinions/discussions will be heavily skewed. (iv) 19:47-- 'Hot' beer is something that many Jamaicans like, where 'hot' here means ambient temp. (In my time it wasn't uncommon to hear a guy order “Bartender, gimme two hot hops!”) --Æ.

The person who tells you to stop filming has something to hide. I am familiar with Tivoli Gardens but I certainly would not visit there on my own in this day and age. It is also very factual that as a white man you will be able to make it in and out of those communities without being harmed or robbed when compared to a local from a different community, more so one from an opposing political spectrum.
thats crazyy I been watching your videos and I didn't know you were from my ends Jane and Lawrence, its a small world frfr keep doing what you're doing. Respect.

Wow Chris, you continue to defy all odds, Tivoli Garden naw. While watching your video I was praying that no one attacks you. The area for the famous Dudus Coke. God is good.
Chris is a man of the people 🤝💯 I’m the same way everyone bleeds the same why should we fear each other we are all created in the image of God
I love how for most part Tivoli Garden is well kept and clean…
Great content Chris! Nice to see it ❤..one love brother✌🏾👊🏾👍🏾
Nice videos…Would be nice if you show the Jamaicans who are living in big houses with New expensive cars living the good life that’s not shown..
You will be happy to know that I have another 10-15 videos coming and one is of a man that has a rags to riches story. Big collection of exotic Italian sports cars.
Looking forward
Omg... been to Tivoli a few times. What an incredible amazing neighborhood. Met verrrrrry beautiful people.
Tivoli Gardens is a beautiful place with beautiful people.
I met many great people on and off camera.
"It's just a beautiful world/full of beautiful people/with nature all around and only love to complete it"
Jamaicans give Tivoli Gardens a bad rap. I personally think that anything can happen anywhere in the world. Love Jamaica 🇯🇲🇯🇲
@@charlenestewartson5940stop lying. How many other communities had 2 weeks of shoot out with the state? And have helicopter hun ships firing at hun men? Liar
The Title Donkeys Piss wine is really very impressive and here I too must Appreciate Mr Chris for making such a wonderful Humour now.
OK thanks Respected sir.
Big up Chris! You have trodden where a lot of us would not trod.
It's not disrespect by the man who stopped you from filming but it's the code of the Ghetto, inner-city.
"Makes me wanna holla" as Marvin Gaye would sing.
Good content I must say, because it's not everyday you get to see places like tivoli. With that been said I truly hope the elder was well compensated for been your tour guide for the afternoon.
Keep up the good work and showing the positive side of Jamaica‼️
Xactly, sameting me did ah tink. Hope you paid the guy for taking u around in this town, as he will get lots of questions as to who u was.
Lots of love and respect christ for what you did for Jamaica

Hi Chris. I was just browsing. This was an awesome video. Very interesting Bless. Am originally from St Thomas JA. Real country. But left over 50 yrs. About 20 yrs ago my daughter and niece went Tivoli with good friends-music. They had fun then. I still go visit. 😊😊
Another great video 🙏
I've been anxious and worried for you from the moment I saw the title. No sah bredda, yuh brave bad and crazyyyyyyyy
I'll head back for a night walk shortly.
Exactly white privilege is everywhere unfortunately… nevertheless he was still brave to go
Which part him deh a no Tivoli that a Spanish town road him lef out a tivoli already kmft
]⁰
thats crazyy I been watching your videos and I didn't know you were from my ends Jane and Lawrence, its a small world frfr keep doing what you're doing. Respect.
not the most dangerous but the most infamous great content as a Jamaican I can say your a brave man
I've also filmed in Spanish Town, Trench Town and Gaza City if you are interested to watch on my channel.

Big ups from Brampton, Chris!
Sad to say as man of colour I couldn’t even go Tivoli Garden or any normal Jamaican .. but big up yourself Chris 💙
I agree
Hopefully you can get a glimpse of the area based on my video. Thank you for watching!
I learned in Jamaica, dark hate darker.
Thanks for the tour Chris you pushed boundaries here, me as a Jamaican will never step in that community.
I appreciate you!
Right I rarely go downtown much less Tivoli he is brave worse down that side been in turmoil with denham town for a while now mi definitely nah go down there
Just be respectful as possible and these will always turn out great videos.
Always respectful.
@ChrisMustList yes, and I enjoy the videos. Please keep em coming friend. New sub
Bwai Chris I miss you. I look forward to turning you on every evening when you were in Belize. Have fun in Jamica. They are just like us❤
You're indeed a very brave man. Congratulations, I enjoy every moment
Chris, I have to give you plenty respect. This is what I was suggesting that you have someone walk with you in the hoods. As you said not everyone is bad but there are still bad ones around. Be careful, please. My son was born in Tivoli Gardens. You are very brave sir.
First time watcher, had to sub. This is great content. Love the inner bits of Kingston. Call it the real Jamaica
Thank you!
I enjoyed this video, but there is always somebody who will want to interrupt. There was no need to however; thank God you came out safely.
