I must say, I know Pricelis personally and she is one of the most humble people. So let me brag for her if you haven’t looked her up yet, she has successful led over 20 Christian retreats out of the country (I have personally been to Costa Rica, Kenya, and Morocco with her and other women) this is her second conference (I went last year and it was amazing) and her intentionality, thoughtfulness, and heart for God is something to be admired!! If you live in NYC please try to attend the sowers summit next week and also purchase her book! You will not be disappointed!!
I got to attend & volunteer last year (what an honor!) and I'm coming back this year with my husband to do it again. So grateful for the love of God & and the conversations created/curated for the Body in all her work. Encouraging and healing at the same time.
Yo! The way Preston affirms Jackie and each guest is so underrated… “The conference had a lot of intentionality… getting to know you more I think that you are a very thoughtful woman, and your conferences are just a reflection of your thoughtfulness.”
God led me to a trauma-informed church community. My, oh my. What a world of difference! I don’t have to hear how “terrible, evil, ungodly, and tempting” I am as a woman and a SV survivor. This new community is rooted in truth, love, empathy, and compassion…Christlike.
This was really good. I think Christians spend so much time talking at people they genuinely forget we are flawed humans that live in a fallen world. God is gracious
Yes! I commented on a post about my partner assisting me in abstaining and the content creator was like, he’s not called to assist. So I explained that I am a SA trauma survivor and so yes he is assisting whether he was called first or not. I think Christians only see themselves in 1 experience and don’t realize God meets us where we are at. It’s like mature Christians are envious of the broken ones. Especially when Gods grace blesses us in ways they haven’t experienced in all their Acts.
Being flawed isn't a reason to sin. We are to be Holy cause He's holy. Holy isn't being perfect, but being perfected in Him. God understands sin but He'll never condone it. Sin brings death and separates us from God. The Bible says to know the right thing to do and to do the opposite is sin. It's ok to be imperfect , but we must be led by the spirit. We'll never get it all right, but if we let Him, He will.
@@godsglory1921I wasn’t making an excuse to sin. I was speaking to how some Christian circles handle people when they fail. We see it all to often. Not considering people’s everyday life, circumstances, traumas, triggers and the like is what causes so much church hurt. People want to view the church community as a safe place. The church should also be seen as a reflection of God’s heart. God forgives. I left church because I questioned God’s forgiveness based on how the church treats people who struggle.
@@keristenwood5337 oh ok. That's good. I'm sorry that you left the church, I understand that church hurt is real and there's a lot going on in church that shouldn't be happening. But our relationship with God is the most important thing in our life. It's hard I know I've experienced some things that made me question who God is. You'll get through it. Just continue to let Him lead you. He won't fail. He can't fail. Whatever is happening around you isn't more important than what's happening in you. Hea your guide and your strength. He'll empower you to do what you can't do on your own strength through his mercy and grace. Praying for you woman of God. He's with you and He loves you.
@@godsglory1921 absolutely which is why people who are attempting correction should be met with respect and grace. Being another obstacle versus offering resources is very telling.

Reading and studying the Word is a necessary component in having a relationship with Christ. I make it a point to pray before reading; asking God to plant the word in my heart and mind and reveal to me what he wants me to know and live out.

I needed this episode so much.. Before watching this episode I literally was on the phone telling my friend that I might be leaving my church because of the lack of trauma informed care.
Listening to this episode now on Spotify. I love the commentary on green rooms at Christian conferences and accessibility in churches (ie, lighting). Hopefully this will lead to more thoughtful and intentional dialogue about how even we as Christians "other" each other in spaces that should be safe and welcoming to all. More specifically, the Acts Conference that is coming up in October, it's time to do away with "VIP" level access. It perpetuates the idea that in order to have "special" access to certain people, you have to pay more money and I don't think there should be a place for that type of business within the body of Christ, as it's placing select people onto pedestals. I'm saying this as humbly and respectfully as possible because I love y'all's ministry, but just something to consider if more conferences are in the pipeline ❤
I agree, it's been common for the church to adopt secular business models in the way it does ministry events. Not saying everything associated with secular business is evil, but we need to be mindful that profit should not be the core goal of ministry work - unless we are saying that some events with Christian leaders should be considered entertainment oriented and not pure ministry. Also, Jackie and Preston have been champions of elevating biblical standards for holiness and they should be aware that perpetuating celebrity Christian culture encourages idolatry, whether intentional or not. And the VIP access mentality encourages celebrity Christian culture.
@@enikeziaholoke8424 If you are going to any Christian conference in anticipation of having "special access" to a particular speaker then I think that requires a heart check. As someone else stated, we really need to be mindful of "celebrity culture" creeping into the Body of Christ and how this lends itself to idolatry. I also think that pastors, teachers and "influencers" have the task - and the burden - of walking that fine line between ministry and business. I'm sure it's an internal struggle, one that I do not envy, but every aspect of a conference or any type of ministry that can reap profit, has to be considered through a Christlike lense, even if it is sometimes in direct opposition to standard (secular) business practices. I think for any conference, there are ways to facilitate authentic engagement between the speakers and as many attendees as possible, without charging people more money. And if I'm really being honest, I don't know if the Body needs more "conferences". Time is ramping up. But that's a different rant for another day.
The part about empathy is so real. That’s ultimately why I left my former church in 2020 but I couldn’t articulate it at the time. They jumped to victory and didn’t acknowledge the pain people were experiencing.
Such a great episode! I love the knowledge and critical thinking around this whole conversation. Sympathy and empathy often get confused. Sympathy is having pity for someone and in my opinion in act of the flesh. Empathy is the ability to emotionally understand and feel emotions.I feel like empathy is the fruits of the spirit all in one word. Such a good episode!
I remember that plane crash going to D.R. very sad. My condolences to all the lost souls. The pandemic was a blessing for many of us. I know it was for me even tho I was one of the folks that was apart of the “essential” but still, the time I got to spend in the Word and was able to just be in His presence changed my life for the better
I really hope you’re able to talk more about the cult in La 23:35 I’m pretty sure I went to the same church and dealt with something similar, I’m still working pass the ptsd of it all and so many people are still listening too him preach

Wow thank you. My husband and I are currently recovering from church hurt. It’s interesting because we both worked there and same thing we didn’t talk about our experiences for about 9 months. It’s not that we were told not to but we just didn’t think to but it’s only when we finally did, it was like a light came on. We both stepped down and are currently praying if she should stay or start looking again. This episode has been insightful ❤

Jackie's expressions have really rubbed off on Preston so much that i have to check again that it was really Preston speaking. Now that's love and admiration😊
I thought I was the only person who noticed the whole dim/dark lighting church thing. I don’t know I just prefer to be in a worship space where there is light.
As an introvert, I didn't mind at first when I began attending a new church. However, it would make sense to have the lights on for the sake of community. Plus, I would rather read my Bible in good lighting than reading from my phone.
I feel like that came about from people trying to produce a presence instead of welcoming His presence. Bring in the smoke machines and call it the glory instead of being in a place (heart posture) where the glory falls.
Glad i found this, this morning. Many ppl are dismissive when people say “church hurt”…. And can we also have a balanced conversation about how different ppl react to being hurt. not all hurt people hurt other ppl, only the ones that do. Some Hurt ppl go into self preservation mode and that can be done without hurting others . Some want the other party (if they care about them) to understand how they feel and what happened to make them feel that way.
I’m not sure if this has already been mentioned in the comments section, but for people to think that Jesus isn’t empathetic is a bit odd to me because of the story of Lazarus. Jesus already knew that he was going to raise him from the dead, but he wept with Lazarus’s family and Stayed with them through their grief even though they couldn’t understand the bigger picture, and I feel like that’s what a walk with Christ is like for us every day when we face turmoil. Maybe when We feel like we don’t understand why our prayer isn’t being answered it may be because the Lord is taking the time to lament with us and allow us to have our feelings
Thanks for the subject about lights, this hard to find a church to visit or home church, I can't attend because of my health it's a big issue, I crave church family it's hard to not be heard about this
This is the first time i have EVER heard of churches having a green room!!! Vestry.... yes. A private room...yes. But a green room...never...only in theatres. (not cinemas or hospitals talking UK here folks!) I do see however how this is a thing and sincerely... egos be ruling...especially if you are only a lowly member of the staff serving and seating the public. Thanks for sharing and opening the eyes of churches being more inclusive.
I am curious to know why it’s dark during worship in some churches? What’s the rationale? What’s wrong with regular church lighting ? Special events, concerts, plays, okay, stage lighting changes make sense .
@@WilliamsPinch i can see that but that’s why i close my eyes. I’ve gone to churches that do both regular i guess “old school” church lighting and this new one. It gives me concert vibes for Sunday morning worship personally . Putting more attention on the platform that perhaps needs to be. But that’s just my POV.
Hi. Great episode. And I feel you on the texture part with the pages. Jesus I thought it was just me...I'm like that with a lot of things I just don't verbalize them. I feel seen. 😂
I’m with Preston on the feeling of lotion when getting out the shower. He’s right. You feel all sticky. But I found a good lotion that doesn’t do that, EOS vanilla cashmere
I stopped reading paper back for years, because I did not like the way the pages felt. I appreciate being able to turn the pages with my actual finger. 🤦🏾♀️ I thought it was just me. So thanks for taking the time to feel the pages in your books.
My husband and I definitely had some church hurt here in Atlanta. It was a tough decision to leave because there are people in some of those ministries we were active in, that we care about. But the leadership…was very abusive and crooked.
Just to come and listen after that whole thing with Preston and the other dude. People will use scripture to manipulate and sometimes scare others. When you find someone who does you can call them out, but sometimes it’s not for you to convince them that what they are doing is wrong , quiet as kept they know already and have decided it’s what they want to do. Seeing someone history with some conversations will save you time when thinking about engaging in an argument.
I just started watching but I had to weigh in on the lotion story .. I’m with Preston, after the shower I need to be dry dry.. lotion gonna make me feel icky especially when the clothes go on 😅 my husband think I’m crazy, he dries with the washcloth and is still damp and lotions .. I couldn’t 😂I need to dry with a towel to be dry dry…. Anyway gonna watch now!
The lights topic seemed a little one sided. I don’t mind the dimmed lights because it helps me not focus on others or feeling like I am being watched so I can worship freely. Same reason why we close our eyes when we pray to block out distractions and focus on the Lord.
@@Maru-leru yes absolutely and it is! I think how she spoke about it on here is from the assumption that someone would be turned away or wouldn’t be assisted and that’s untrue. I’ve served as a greeter and usher in church and that is part of our responsibilities.
Hi Perrys, I really love the conversations you normally have, I also love Marcus Rogers' content. All of you are doing great work building up the body of Christ. It would be great if you could invite him and a neutral person(in the body) to talk about matters Spirit and pop culture.
I don’t know if that would be beneficial as Marcus has made negative comments about JHP and seems to believe that deliverance can only look like what he believes it looks like.
I need some help making a decision, recently I have come back to the faith. Recently the opportunity to minister has come up I left like it was god opening a path for me since I’ve been looking for a way to serve. Yesterday I went to church and talked to a pastor and he told me he think I should be disciplined first because I can only teach what I know. I feel drawn to both, the ministering class will then allow me to help high school students. But I also understand I can only teach what I know, my faith and my love for god is so immense that I feel that even if I don’t have a huge amount of knowledge I can help plant seeds in young minds. I’m stumped, i would like to hear some takes on this

When I saw a testimony at a large campus from a youth pastor in a much smaller one closer to my home at the time, i moved for the same reason. I live in Jackie's hometown and am currently unchurched. Corruption and religious spirits are principalities here. I so want to reconnect to the local church, but I have seen too much VERY up close and personally. I've gone thru being critical and then healing from the hurt so I believe that I'm ready..they are wilding out here🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️

Love y’all sisters in Christ ! Keep on fighting the good fight of FAITH 💯🤞🫶💪🙏
This right here is mind-blowing ❤
The Holy Spirit brought the darkness during service to my awareness in the last few years too, couldn't even read the Bible yet alone take notes!
This episode is needed!!!
Jackie's expressions have really rubbed off on Preston so much that i have to check again that it was really Preston speaking. Now that's love and admiration😊
I thought I was the only person who noticed the whole dim/dark lighting church thing. I don’t know I just prefer to be in a worship space where there is light.
Raw dog really
Me as well. I don’t enjoy the concert feel…
I prefer a dim service. People are less concerned with performing and more open to worshipping freely.
Great conversation! Great episode!
Thanks for the subject about lights, this hard to find a church to visit or home church, I can't attend because of my health it's a big issue, I crave church family it's hard to not be heard about this
Can’t wait for the next solo episode !!
Thank you. I really appreciated this interview. Just downloaded the book from audible
Such a great conversation
The lotion segment. I feel the same way as Preston 😂😂. But my wife has convinced me to put it on more regularly, other than just when i go outside.🙂
Preston I like to feel dry too bro 😂😂 makes me feel even more clean lol!
I am curious to know why it’s dark during worship in some churches? What’s the rationale? What’s wrong with regular church lighting ?
Special events, concerts, plays, okay, stage lighting changes make sense .
Less distractions.
“If that’s not the biggest red flag that could flaggin red!!!”
Jackie😭😭😭
🔥🔥can't wait
Yees. It's not about the messenger but the message.
I tried to take some time when I left a church bc senior pastor inappropriate behavior toward me. Freaked me out. Major trust issues.
the last part about texture and crying as a kid is so relatable 🤣... still lol - anyway, great episode!
Such GREAT conversation here. And JACKIE....I am very tactile and texture sensitive. We would get along well😂
I agree with Preston on the lotion saga 😂
😂😂😂😂
My jaw hit the floor at “don’t tell your husband”
Absolutely Hilarious & Awesome 👏🏾
The lights topic seemed a little one sided. I don’t mind the dimmed lights because it helps me not focus on others or feeling like I am being watched so I can worship freely.
Same reason why we close our eyes when we pray to block out distractions and focus on the Lord.
I understand but church should be accessible to all.
@@Maru-leru yes absolutely and it is! I think how she spoke about it on here is from the assumption that someone would be turned away or wouldn’t be assisted and that’s untrue. I’ve served as a greeter and usher in church and that is part of our responsibilities.
100% agree. I loved my former churches evening worship service when the lights were dim so that you could focus on the Holy Spirit.
I’m with Preston with not lotioning( not a word) after a bath…sometimes 😂
@withtheperrys my skin produces a lot of oil also. Have you ever considered oils? Grapeseed oil from the grocery store get me right every time .
Jesus was very empathetic!!! When Lazarus died… “he wept” that was the epitome of empathy!!!
That's different than starting a Therapy Movement.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Jackie, please let Preston finish his sentences 😭😭
Hi Perrys, I really love the conversations you normally have, I also love Marcus Rogers' content. All of you are doing great work building up the body of Christ. It would be great if you could invite him and a neutral person(in the body) to talk about matters Spirit and pop culture.
I don’t know if that would be beneficial as Marcus has made negative comments about JHP and seems to believe that deliverance can only look like what he believes it looks like.
Hard pass on Marcus 🤷🏽♀️
@@HonestLeighSpeakingI LOVE your @ name! 👌❤️
Yeah, nah. He isn’t needed over here. Support his “ministry” as you will.
2:23 😍🥰. Oh Preston is such a flirt 😂😂😂
I’m stumped, i would like to hear some takes on this
🤔 don't teach what you don't know 🤷🏾♂️ "EASY"💎
OMG, my 5 yo daughter has a texture issue with socks. I have tried flipping them inside out, thick ones, thin ones, no shows, etc. May I ask how your mom combated this issue...TY in advance😊
"We couldnt connect with anyone because it was so big" Girrrrrrl, let me tell you. When I saw a testimony at a large campus from a youth pastor in a much smaller one closer to my home at the time, i moved for the same reason. I love my people and my church in South Africa as a whole, but its really a mega church and that catholic upbringing in me cant stand to not be seen by the people i fellowship with, i need connection.
I’m folding clothes and listening. Then I hear a child in the beginning and stopped dead in my tracks…..my daughter is at school though😂😂😂😂 2:00
I live in Jackie's hometown and am currently unchurched. Corruption and religious spirits are principalities here. I so want to reconnect to the local church, but I have seen too much VERY up close and personally. I've gone thru being critical and then healing from the hurt so I believe that I'm ready..they are wilding out here🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
Come to Free Chapel in midtown! We would love to have you!

I'm also in St. Louis. Try The Spirit Church in St. Ann or Twin Rivers Church..
@@kingsleybrivera Will do! Thank you❤️
@@WOG8823 Is there one St. Louis?
Have Patience Jackie..😊😅
🔥🔥🔥
14:08 why is Jackie so funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣
“Red and yellow black and white, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world” 🌎 🎶
Jesus isn’t even white. We’re all beautiful and uniquely made, and loved equally. How boring would the world be if everyone was white (like me) or just black or just Asian etc etc. PTL for his creation ❤
I don't like the use of smoke machines. Why not let the Shekinah glory of God filled the room in that way. We are too prop heavy at times.
The world is wicked, it hurts my heart when I hear stories about people in ministry using their positions to get others to do sexual things to them.
She makes some good points about trauma informed church but how can a church or its leadership know if you are new to the congregation? Most people don't open up like that initially and I would venture to say it takes most years to build relationships where they are transparent.

OMGosh I NEEDED THIS 😩🤍🙏🏽🙌🏽 thank yall so much!!!!

Jacquelyn Marie Hill Perry!!! You better have this face beat honey 🥰😍

Dermatologists recommend applying lotion all over after every bath/shower 😬😂
Try in-shower lotion from Jergens!!!
Georgia has soft water, soft water does not make you ashy like hard water do. So if he does not put lotion on it’s okay
Preston I feel you only put lotion on what’s seen if at all my husband messes with me😂
“it’s dry all right”🤣
Trauma informed church! I hear the social worker. Fellow social worker here!
