    That was a mighty big fish Stephen! Mighty fine job of getting to the bottom without an “accident”. Mama’s keeper! Thanks for sharing with us.

    • @StephenOgle
      @StephenOgle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Zetus. LOL! to the big fish. This project was really a fun challenge just simply because of the depth relation to the diameter. Tool control was the biggest issue. Loose control for a split second and the bowl could be trash. I sweated a lot. LOL! Glad you enjoyed this project and take care.

    That is the most information I have gotten from anyone’s TH-cam on sanding sealer - its function and the process. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

    • @StephenOgle
      @StephenOgle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Lois. So glad you enjoyed this project and found it helpful. I really like using it to help me sand and get a very nice and smooth surface for my wax. You could also use another finish over the top of it to make it really "Pop". Take care.

  • @ALs-Outdoors
    @ALs-Outdoors 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That turned out GREAT! it is hard enough to make an interrupted cut but add depth and end grain and it's very challenging. I made an S rest that helps some to get up in there without reaching over the rest to far.

    • @StephenOgle
      @StephenOgle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Al. Glad you enjoyed this project. It was not terrible but if I had to go any deeper then I would have resorted to my hollowing rig to finish the piece. I have a couple of toolrest designs I am thinking of building which could help a lot in this situation. Thank you for you input and take care.

      Thank you Daryl. I have been using this wax since even before woodturning. I really like it. This is the only finishing wax I have used because I can get it locally. I am sure other brands would be just as good. Take care, brother.

    • @StephenOgle
      @StephenOgle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you James. Glad you enjoyed this project. You are so correct. I think that hollowing tools could have been a good way to work this one also. Any deeper and I would have went to them. Take care brother.

    Steven, I am so glad to have you back on the lathe. How well do you feel the wax holds up
    compared to other options. I am comfortable following many of your techniques you share. You definitely have saved me a ton of money, by my following your lead for many
    of the jigs I use in my turnings. I enjoyed your build videos, but you are born for the lathe
    and have a really great presentation skill.

      Thank you Gerald. Your comments are very inspiring. Glad you have enjoyed my channel and found it helpful. I am not a full time content creator and can not upload as much as someone who has too. I just hope that my projects and presentations help other turners or people wanting to get into it. Thank you very much and stay tuned. Take care.

    Haven’t seen you for awhile, great bowl and always learn and enjoy. Love my C & son gouges but wonder if I made it harder to use them with that v shaped flute and me sharpening with to much swept back wing? What do you think? Have you done any sharpening videos with that flute type? Thanks and cheers from MT

    • @StephenOgle
      @StephenOgle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed this project. My CnS tools are really nice. I have both bowl gouges swept back wings about 1 inch and the bevels are 55 deg. I do have a sharpening video on my gouges and other turning tools here. th-cam.com/video/VWMhcT9ShAg/w-d-xo.html I hope it helps. Take care.

    Hi. Do you thin your sand and seal, please?

    • @StephenOgle
      @StephenOgle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Graham. Glad you enjoyed this project. I do not usually thin it and use it straight from the can. I do have to add Lacquer thinner from time to time due to evaporation in my bottle. Thinning will not hurt at all though. If it will not soak into the wood then it should be thinned a little. Not too much though. It's job is to stiffen the fibers and raise the grain. I hope this helps. Take care.
