Let’s run is a sticky one. Because I love some parts of it as well as some of the stuff the staff do. But, a lot of the people in the forum are completely clueless

The cult-like nature of distance running communities (especially in the west) puts lots of unnecessary pressure and expectations on athletes to act/perform/etc a certain way. Tbh, if you're a pro runner, you probably shouldn't ever visit LetsRun to begin with, that's just common sense lmao. It's not a legitimate representation of the running scene and never will be.

Agreed. I also think if you develop thick skin you can read it and just get on with your life.

The problem with tinman is at one point there was an enormous imbalance in social media coverage/marketing done by them compared to their performances.
And when those performances were subpar to the pro standard people began to question their intentions in the pro sphere.
They all seem like great guys, hard workers, and good advocates for the sport. But sadly the sport isn’t about who can sell the most merch, have the biggest brand, or have the largest following. It’s a cultish way of thinking that’s extremely cutthroat.
And let’s run really invokes the posters’ own insecurities when they rag on a team that’s struggling. Cause there’s no way that any runner that has accomplished anything would rag on a bunch of guys grinding it out just like them.
Tinman is great for the sport. But I just hope they can find future balance and success to bolster their brand back to prominence.

Honestly I don’t care for the balance. The more hype they bring the better. If there performances don’t match then you can work on that. And use the opportunity from the content and more money to invest in themselves and performances.

They give the sport more visibility and a different approach, how good they are is not that important when it comes to making running bigger and more mainstream. Meanwhile, the footprint of other teams on social media and in the running community is nearly none, which, to me, makes it look like those are the people that only care about their own self-interest in the sport.

It is pretty neat to hear and see Joey say he thought he was the worst guy on Tinman Elite, but then he buckles down and runs some great races and hits multiple PR's. Sam had a very very good year last year outdoors, continuing into indoors this year. Neat to see how Tinman responded.

Whether or not people like it, groups like Tinman are the future of sports in general. Even if these influencer groups are amateurs or pros in therms of their ceiling, they are putting eyes on the sport. Look at the Golf TH-cam world with channels like Good Good. Not exactly pros, but millions of people watch those videos and have gotten into the sport. Criticism comes with playing in this space and in any traditional sport. In general, there needs to be more investment by teams into coaching athletes psychology/mental as much as their coaching in the skill of their game to mitigate the effect of criticism from others to build mental resiliency. At the end of the the day, the future of sport will heavily be connected through influencing and marketing avenues… that’s the best way now how folks can put food on the table.

Could you do a video about doubling, such as how long of a break to take between doubles(4hrs vs 8hrs), and a video consolidating drills/mobility/form and when/how often to do them.
