Just did my ‘02 IS300, you helped a bunch - THANKS! I used the Fidanza Flywheel, Clutch Masters FX200 and Redline MT90 synthetic gear oil...and LOVE it. Much nicer to drive...better than new.
Just did a clutch replacement on my 92 SC300 last weekend and even with a transmission jack, I had the worst time in the world getting it back in. The trans fought me the whole time, so I wasn't too surprised, but dang I was excited when it was finally done. P.S. are you filming on your phone?
C3GARAGE Media worked all afternoon getting it out now all the trans is almost off just having trouble taking it out because I didn't know you needed to unbolt the subframe/engine mounts is there anyway specific way you got the trans off? Do u recommend putting in on the ground I have it on a lift right now ? Thank you!
Ryan woobank the only way to get it out is to drop the subframe. There are four nuts to loosen, two on each side of the subframe, then you need to loosen the three bolts on each side of the triangular brace near the back of the subframe. Make sure you support the subframe with a jack. Even if you have a lift you need to drop the engine to allow the bell housing to clear the fire wall. It's easier than it sounds. I show these locations in my video. Good luck.
C3GARAGE Media okay thanks you for all the help I've been going back to your video for help just one last thing I'm stuck on is getting the transmission back in any suggestions thanks once again for the help it's greatly appreciated I'm doing this clutch job myself so its some time can be tricky!
I understand completely, it was not easy to get back in. I borrowed a transmission jack from a friend. I was having trouble getting it back in with a floor jack. This will make your life much easier!! I did have to put a jack on the front of the motor to push the back down far enough to get the transmission mounted. Make sure your clutch disk is aligned perfectly as any resistance will not allow the input shaft to line up.
Don’t know if anyone’s still watching this just did mine. I’m wondering how you knew how much trans fluid to put in the way you did. I don’t wanna risk taking that upper drain plug out and destroying it
great DIY may I request a video of a couple pulls and a clutch review. i will definitely be referencing this video when i do my clutch. also is there any way we could get a heads up when you do a drift event or go run at bandimere. I would love to see the car in action. I work in lupton about 10 minutes from IMI. again... great content.
Hey i have a similar setup as you. is300 turbo with stock 5 speed transmission ( w55). Becareful with w55. It a very weak transmission Or you gonna make next video " how to swap transmission" lol.
A couple of other questions/comments: Why did you drain the transmission fluid? Is the transmission not sealed, or did you want to flush it and use new? Is your replacement flywheel dual mass? I hear they may make for smoother shifting, but do they handle high horsepower applications? And, ain't it amazing what you can accomplish with a torch and a little heat? ;-)
Michael Coles I drained the tranny because the fluid would leak out of the tail shaft when it was tilted downward. The new flywheel is solid and not a dual mass, the clutch disk is now sprung and it works really smooth for an upgraded clutch. Thanks for watching!
may i ask which centerforce dual friction clutch kit and fidanza flywheel you used(part numbers), there's two that look the same on autohance, they told me the center force dual friction clutch kit(pt.#df505018) wouldn't be compatable with the fidanza flywheel(pt.#130301) thanks, i own a 2003 lexus is300 manual
Sammy glo sorry man i dont have the part numbers off hand. I literally just googled is300 clutch and flywheel. I got both of them off jegs. I spoke with them when ordering to ensure i got the correct parts. They double checked with the providers. Good luck. Made a huge difference with smooth engagement. Thanks for watching.
561proracer this setup is awesome! No chatter, no strange noises, great holding force and not too stiff! Considering I broke this clutch in at a drift event it’s well worth the cost.
I have the same setup (about 2 months and 2,500 miles on it) but I have a ticking while it runs. it only happens when the clutch is fully depressed, I think the Fidanza flywheel and centerforce clutch and pressure plate are too tall for the throwout bearing and they touch causing a very annoying ticking sound. I also think this may be cause me to not have full pressure between the flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate. What are your thoughts? any similar issue? I used #DF505018 and #130301
corey tardella a couple thoughts. Mine works perfect and no issues, no noise. Did you replace the throughout bearing and pilot bearing when it was installed. Second try adjusting your clutch pedal near the floor on the back of the clutch you can adjust this by removing a. Pin and screwing it in our out to get more engagement.
I did replace both the throwout bearing and pilot bearing. However the throwout bearing was from a different clutch kit (#f16095r4) I didn't think it would matter but I've had the pedal adjusted before. I'll see if it came loose again. If not looks like I'll have to get another bearing from centerforce instead of exedy..

Is this a W55? Did you have to update your push rod to the OEM supra one? I heard you have to make it work with the Fidanza fw
No totally stock w55

Joshua Davison thanks for watching man. I'll try to better post where I am bringing the car. I love this clutch smooth engagement with strong hold.

do you have the item number for the centerforce clutch kit

yeah man i ended up getting the fidanza flywheel and act street clutch kit, got em in and gonna hope everything goes well this weekend 🙏🏼
Do u Recommend this clutch ?
It was a great clutch. for drifting I would recommend a solid ceramic clutch
Did you use OEM bearings ? or the ones that came with Centerforce clutch ?
Jose Pacheco oem.
C3GARAGE Media how’s the drive ? I’m installing the same kit you installed, but I’m fully stock. Im slowly going to built this project
Jose Pacheco it drives great! Not too much stiffer than stock. Hold power good at this point. It revs a little easier with the new flywheel.
I have the same centerforce 2 and flywheel on my is300 too. Do I need to tune it too please answer back ASAP
zakkrick no need to tune the car after the clutch install. I had to adjust my clutch petal to engage property.
thanks
How is the setup driving does it make clatter noise from the bellhousing
561proracer this setup is awesome! No chatter, no strange noises, great holding force and not too stiff! Considering I broke this clutch in at a drift event it’s well worth the cost.
So how much did that whole set up cost you thinking about that setup or oem mk4 supra flywheel for 2jz ge
561proracer bout 600 clutch 600 flywheel. Revs a little more free with the lightened flywheel too.
what can i do for that horrible single mass flywheel chatter?
I have zero chatter with the single mass flywheel. Are you using a sprung clutch?
Recondition the flywheel and you should be good. You'll cause uneven wear on the clutch and have to replace it again within a year
Jhordan Thelwell the flywheel was replaced.

Lol completely skipped the part I needed
What transmission do you have and how much hp you have
