i transferred rom the glide to the spin the fall of my sophomore season because I was throwing 8m and i wanted to learn in. I didnt have any coaching all sophomore season besides three private leasons before the season started and I improved to 13 flat at the end of sophomore season. Im ranked top 5% of sophomore throwers in 1a 2a and 3a in illinois. Right now ive improved to about 14/15m off season and I want to hit 16/17 by junior season. These vids from Throws University really help sometimes to improve those slight techniques and parts of the throws to get more distance. Thanks
The intro is very prevalent and accurate--high schoolers internalize whether they are a glider or spinner as their identity, and they think they need to "transiton" and "de-transition" between the techniques like gender and pronouns. I say instead of having to choose, practice both concurrently. Treat the spin as a 3rd event in addition to discus and glide shot. Practice drills common to 2 or all 3 events, and understand how the same drill is adjusted for the other event. Also try odd drills and techniques. Become and identify as a versatile thrower.
I began my throwing career as a junior in high school. Of course it was the glide. I made my first attempt of the transition my first year in college. Then at a huge meet on my second throw got irritated with the low mark and I reverted back to the glide and threw a PR. I made the transition again the following year at my second college but stuck it through. Hit a PR in an indoor meet and decided to try the glide just for the sake of it. Hit near the spin PR. I ended up changing my focus to the hammer later that season.
I have been throwing using the glide for years. Im in highschool and my mom wants me to learn the spin. I get so frustrated because everytime i try the spin i throw about 2 feet less, and continuosly go back to the glide. So this is a very helpful video on how long it will actually take.

Train your glide and you won't need to spin 🎉 we need more Gliders!!!
Adding 3 feet to your sanding throw with a glide is good but adding 8 feet with the spin after a while of doing it is bad

it took me 2 month of fully focusing on the spin to switch successfully. I would say it is very much worth to stay.
Been learning on 2 years, still don’t have it down yet.
i threw 8 with thew glide then when i went to the spin i threw 12
Warm up plss
When I glide in......8 seconds to the shot.
