What an absolute pleasure this review was, as usual with HR in a Car. Ahem! ;) As a Tesla 3 LR owner, and former 944t owner, the Taycan turbo S is a car I’d aspire to. If I were more materialist, if I were loaded, if I truly was bothered by the foibles of our current car. I miss the handling of even my 30 year old “poor man’s Porsche.” The size of the Taycan makes me wish it were an estate or Panamera in EV - it’s too big for our city use basically, and not useful enough forfull family duty. There are also some ergonomic concerns you’ve highlighted. If however it were a more affordable Cayman EV with two doors and a proper frunk, I’d be on it like stink for my own selfish pleasure. All to say, I can’t wait for the second and third efforts from Porsche, and EVs of all kinds are about to get even better. Thank you for an outstanding overview.
Very nice video. Cool headed. I get about 280 miles on my 4S. There's a button for the seat heater in case you ever get back in one again. PS The base radio is very good also. PPS my garage door is 6" wider than my car and because of the parking system I haven't hit the pillars yet.
I noticed you had the regen off when you went to turn on the Electric Sport Sound. So the mileage could of been better as the regen is higher in stop and go city commuting.
You really do not need to turn on regen mode to make the car efficient. The brakes transition and use regen when possible. I frankly never use regen unless I am going down a long hill. I think his range may have been more affected by any sudden accelerations he did to verify it was a Porsche. I know after even nearly a year I still have that need. :-) Also I get about 265mi range with 70-80mph roadways and 20” wheels.
I’ve learned that having the heat on can drastically impact the mileage. When I turn on my heat the mileage drops about 40-50 miles. When I turn it off, it immediately goes back up.
@@ronb4633 Have a Turbo S on order due for delivery May 2022 to replace my Panamera. My main worry is range. Are you getting that from a Turbo S? Porsche are claiming over 300 for the GTS so purely for range thinking of dropping down but don't want to.
@@davidowen2859 I have a 2021 Turbo S and I am getting about 200-220-ish, but I am pretty much 100% in super sport with regen-on, much of that with windows down and a mix of highway and freeway driving. That will drop if am doing more hard mountain driving . With that said, getting pretty comfortable with understanding what to expect, and understand my option to charge in greater area if needed but normally charging at home is sufficient for me.

Battery size doesn't matter in real life. Fast charging does. For example: Brussels-Switserland is 10min faster with the taycan with the big battery compared to the one with the small battery. That is why the Taycan beats most Tesla's in the 1000km ev challenge.
@@famaccount479 yeah it better be Porsche builts cars a bit longer , that doesn’t justify the price , compared to Model 3 LR ( 60k~) it barley keeps up in range , a Model S Plaid is significant faster & got more range
@@mastodon5220 Range is not everything, even lesser important in performance cars. People who cares about the range, buy the 4S and not the Turbo S. I would like to know how much can I actually store in the boot? If I'm driving to the airport can I store at least two good sized suitcases? Do the back seats fold down in case I need extra space or for something lengthy?? Thanks!
I would say you can fit two good size suitcases in the back, and yes the seat fold down (at least in my Turbo S as optioned). I have a Weather tech matt in the back, and load up all kinds of stuff. Probably about as much space as my Audi S7 in the back.
Thx for sharing. The car looks great! I’m actually going to test drive one soon. Just don’t know if this car will make me leave Tesla. I guess time will tell. Cheers 👍
It’s like nobody has ever had to wait at a petrol pump. Also nobody can full their car with petrol from home but you can charge over night which is not only easily but much cheaper than petrol. Furthermore, if anyone goes on a road trip or drives a long distance they’d stop for food/drinks/toilet/stretch legs etc anyway so why not charge while you’re eating, drinking or in the bathroom?
Its a better car than Tesla, but its a bit too expensive for me when I add the things that I think should be standard in the car. I wish I could afford it though... Also I think Porsche and VW-group still needs to develop more Ionity chargingstations. Lots and lots more. They cant beat Tesla on that.
1:10 it is definitely quicker than every tesla... But if you take the S plaid of course it is quicker but not sporty as the porsche. And why talking about the turbo S into your title? You are reviewing the turbo not the turbo S
Ok I own one brilliant car handles like a great car but turbo is 3 seconds and turbo s is about 2.5 I have timed them both One criticism is the Porsche pcm with apple is shit needs sorting Porsche
You travelled 40 odd miles and the range dropped 84 miles leaving 104 left. Ok you stood still for a time but you never appeared to be travelling particularly fast and that level of range is not close to being adequate in the real world. On a trip to the Nurburgring, just over 400miles and admittedly a lot of motorway use, our turbo had to be topped up 5 times and charging network not perfect, especially in the UK. As you say if you just potter about charging at home fine but who spends £140K on a car to potter around. Good car the Taycan but jury still out from a usability standpoint.
Does your existence revolve around you going onto the Internet and just generally being negative to people? You must be a stand up fella. I bet the women are all over you. What I find with this review is a well put together review and very well edited. What I think with your comment is, you are a small man who wishes he could drive a car this nice. I think personally having a look in the mirror may be a good choice for yourself. Enjoy driving your little Toyota Yaris you probably have. Enjoy the rest of your jealous trolling life 😘

Offensively expensive relative to the range. More range, a LOT more range, might justify the price but until then I'll pass on it.

The taycan turbo s beat a model s performance on carwow so it is faster than the Tesla 🤷🏻♀️

2.8 metres wide?? That's nearly a metre wider than a Huracan or a 488. Maybe OK if you only ever drive on motorways, useless anywhere else.
It's obviously nonsense, no wagon or sports car is wider then 2 metres. The Taycan Width is 1,966 mm (77.4 in)
That would make it wider than a London bus.
What Tesla 😂 I’m not poor
