What hurts is that Rise of the Guardians was the last movie that DreamWorks had worked with Paramount before moving 20th Century Fox after a contract dispute with Paramount being greedy so DreamWorks was left to work independently and was at it's dark age up until the late 2010s Universal was bought out DreamWorks and now have a home with them
EXCELLENT MJTANNER RISE OF THE GUARDIANS AWESOME REVIEW 👍😉👍🧡
I wouldn’t call 2013-2017 DreamWorks’s dark age. Sure, there were bad films like Turbo and Home as well as box office bombs like Mr. Peabody and Sherman and Penguins of Madagascar, but there were still gems like the Croods, HTTYD2, Kung Fu Panda 3, and Captain Underpants: the First Epic Movie.
@@EternityKingdomsHeadHoncho there's also the Boss Baby movies and they are awful that I always have a feeling that they came from Illumination or as a direct to streaming movie on Netflix but with that being beside the point I just don't understand why DreamWorks went from the anti-disney we love to a Illumination 2.0 when it play kid movies that really made for them yet they made mature films like Puss in Boots The Last Wish or Kung Fu Panda that it baffled me that they got a inconsistent track record
@@EternityKingdomsHeadHoncho Mr. Peabody and Sherman is actually good. It's sort of in the same boat as Guardians, in that sense. Shame both flopped.
@@AnimaVox_ Indeed Peabody and Sherman is. I was merely listing it as a box office failure because it failed to turn a profit
I love the Rise of The Guardians, but I fear that if it got more love attention and popularity than it did then it would have eventually turned into another soulless over saturated franchise.
Maybe but dreamwork franchises are good. Kung fu panda, Dragons and Shrek are all excellent (Except Shrek 3, the others are great.) The compagny can make good movies. I won't be worried if they made 2 more about Rise of the guardians. Could be cool to turn it into a trilogy, create new villains and guardians too.
@@ladypool1404yeah whenever its dreamworks in charge of sequels, we've pretty much got nothing to worry about as they follow the same formula that makes each sucseed every time. If its disney however...
You do understand that not every film company is like Disney?
Yes DreamWorks is better than Disney.
But they still made the minions move.
Good point.
This movie deserving better is an understatement.
Same for Astro boy and ratchet and clank 2016
During its popularity surge, I hated the crossover thing (mainly because Elsa was far inferior character in terms of writing), but was obsessed with Jack and Pitch. To the point I bought a book from the original series, in English, from abroad, being a broke student in Eastern Europe. Commitment was STRONG.
Revisiting it recently, I found out it was deserving of recognition BY FAR more than, say, Frozen. The way they animated textures, movement and nature elements was STELLAR.
And Chris Pine doesn't bother me, older teen boys may have similar voices, though it is a rarity. If anything, his voice acting is impeccable here, he uses a lot of voice and breath, you can hear him smile. He's not your usual star voice-actor.
The visuals, though... Honestly, I'd keep the fairy winged Indian warrior-maiden, as she is the books, but what they did with her concept was equally great in the movie.
Sanderson is probably a dark horse in this one, his speaking through gestures and pictograms is fascinating concept, beautifully executed. On short, all of the characters are packing a rizz, and the weakest, mushiest part you see is the modern children. I wish they'd married movie's guardians to books' children and fictional, semi-magical town of Santoff Claussen.
And nowadays, I'm still rooting for characters of Jack Frost and Pitch, and probably appreciate them even more than I used to.
Completely agree with you on the modern children point and on tying the movie closer to the books in both writing and artistic design. Really, this movie should've taken place entirely in a fantasy period setting, like Treasure Planet. I don't understand why they chose such a boring setpiece in comparison. Maybe it was just easier to animate? 🤷
I didn't mind Chris Pine either, his voice acting is surprisingly nuanced and fitting for Jack's arc. I actually forgot about him while watching the first time, which is a good thing. It means his voice didn't distract me from the story and that I was seeing and listening to the character, not him.
I actually don't think Elsa is an outright awful character, the problem is that Frozen's writing in general is pretty bad. I mean, all the main cast, including Hans, have a lot of potential to be fantastic characters-Elsa too due to her psychological nuances (which were left entirely unexplored... 🤦)-but the writing is so incompetent that it ends up achieving the opposite and makes them all generic, cookie-cutter archetypes with almost no depth. Frozen II is an even more egregious offender. But yes, RotG is definitely narratively stronger than the overrated Frozen, and it's not even close.
I do like crossovers, but mainly to see how creative people can get with them; what I don't like is how formulaic and ship-focused most are, it's unoriginal. I like romance, but only when it's written well-and that's typically challenging to pull off, which is probably out of the skill range of most amateur fanfic writers.
The fact that a creative take on fantasy characters like this never got to achieve it's potential but Boss Baby thrives proves we might be in the wrong timeline
When you mentioned Pitch being a dark reflection of Jack you couldn't have been more on point and if the movie put in more of the book it's based on you would know why and it significantly improve Pitch as a character. It's a similar situation with Disney's Hercule where it ignores much of the source material but nonetheless both are great films.
In the book Pitch was known as Kozmotis Pitchiner the hero of the Golden age. He captured many Fearlings, One night when Kozmotis was missing his Daughter most the Fearlings tricked him into thinking that they had her inside them and in an effort to save her he opened their cell and unleashed them. 10,000 Fearlings then took possession of Pitch and corrupted him, turning him into the Pitch Black we know it he movie.
With that in mind you realise both Jack Frost and Pitch Black became what they are by trying to save someone most dear to them.
YES!!!!! Rise of the Guardians is one of my most favorite films from DreamWorks!! And it absolutely sucks how badly it is treated!
Why on Earth we never got a sequel or tv show about it showing off other holiday figures (Jack O'Lantern, Mother Nature, Father Time, Cupid, The Leprechaun, etc.) is beyond me. That would sell like hotcakes!
It might be because it didn't financially do well. A lot of modern Dreamwork shows are only from their hits and successful franchises, plus Home for some reason?
@@electricfeverx976 Yeah, I don't get why Home or Boss Baby are things they like more than RotG.
Just by the name Jack O Lantern I know tumblr would’ve went feral lol
I think they made jack look younger because it reflects his child like self and how kids always ask for snow on around Christmas time, his older voice is to reflect he might look like a kid but he's adult trap in a teen like body
That’s a good way to put it.
It might just be me, but it never bothered me? Not all teen boys are going to be voice crack-y. Some of their voices drop in tone extremely quickly and noticeably. So I just figured that's happened with Jack before he died
...sorry about all the replies, I did it on mobile and the pop-up window wasn't going away, so I thought it wasn't posting. I hopefully deleted all the duplicates.
@@5Geass It never bothered me either.
I also agree that Jack’s voice suited him. There are teenage boys with naturally deeper voices that don’t crack, I had friends like that who hit huge growth spurts and didn’t go through the cracky voice phase for long. Not to mention Jack grew up in Colonial times where one was expected to take on responsibilities much younger than they are in the present day, so I can see an environment where he would end up maturing pretty quickly.
If they did go for a younger voice for Jack, it would be a bit difficult to imagine he’s a 300 year old spirit who’s been on his own. There are immortal like characters who do look young and have youthful sounding voices, and it does sometimes cause a disconnect with the audience since our brains think “young so still developing.” I just don’t see the delivery working out with a younger voice as it would seem more of a “teenage angst” phase than the “spirit who looks young but has been around for a long time” set up they were going for.
I liked this film. And yes, it DID deserve better.
This is one of the most visually stunning animated features I've seen in the past decade. The quality of the textures and particle effects still hold up, and the ice actually looks like ice and not just a translucent, blue solid. And the way you can actually see the veins in Jack's hands and how his complexion changes to an almost purple pallor after he falls into the lake! The light filtering through his ears! The skin complexions on the main cast are all unique and the textures still hold up. It's little things like that.
I like the character designs, and if you like them too, definitely check out William Joyce's artwork; I actually managed to get my hands on the complete book collection of Guardians of Childhood, although I haven't gotten around to reading them yet. The covers and further artwork Joyce's done are gorgeous. Which leads me to my next point...
A bit of criticism I had for this movie is that I wish the art style was more whimsical and fantasy-inspired, like the author's; I also wish it was more of a period piece, with the setting either being in the past or with an older aesthetic, like in Joyce's art. Like, instead of giving Jack a modern hoodie, why not opt for a cloak or 18th century overcoat like the one he wears during his flashback? I think his design could've benefitted a lot from a more archaic-style hood. I definitely understand the criticism for Jack's voice, since I found it jarring at first too, although it admittedly grew on me; I think they maybe should've made Jack a bit taller with broader shoulders, like in some of the storyboard art, to make him look more around the older teenager-young man range. I also agree with your point about Pitch; his voice is perfect, but his design is a little flat for me. I would've added some smokey wisps swirling around him, at least, to play with the lighting and shadow, and have him be more creative with his black sand instead of just using horses.
The designs for North, Tooth, Sandy, and Bunny do a good job at standing out, and I like that Jack still looks very distinct despite his more mundane appearance; his hair is windswept, his jaw is more square, his nose isn't big the way it is for so many male characters-and his ears, for example, stick out and are shaped in a very peculiar way, and it's those little details that really add to the whole. Another thing I think this film does well is the musical score-it's appropriately whimsical, yet memorable. I still like listening to Jack and Sandy's leitmotifs, and Pitch and the Guardians' themes are immediately recognizable.
I don't understand some criticisms I've seen of Jack being a generic protagonist. I disagree. I almost liken him to a Peter Pan-like figure, although there's an important distinction: while Jack is very fun-driven and mischievous, like Peter Pan, he's never mean-spirited about it and has a mature quality to him that Peter Pan doesn't. It's a major hint to his true age and nature, how he has an ability to take things seriously like an adult. His flaws have more to do with him not being a team player and being a tad impulsive. I also love how gentle he's capable of being, it's so rare to see that in male characters these days. He's definitely my favorite incarnation of Jack Frost.
This movie really deserved to have some kind of continuation, though I'm happy we at least have the books.
Edited for misspelling.
Pitch forming sand horses is a pun. Night-mare, so dreams can look whatever, but nightmares are all lovely black mares 😊
And it's a yes on Jack's hoodie, the cloack was one thing that shouldn't've changed.
@@dohavename6775 I get that, but it becomes a little boring after a while, and they just aren't very scary. Using them more as messengers and mounts is more sensible, I think; while having Pitch make more types of apparitions for variety's sake, at least. Imagine him using a single, menacing looking horse as his way to get around, like some frightening warrior of old, but using scarier looking monsters to fight and the regular Nightmares to deliver... well, nightmares. He just needed a little something extra to really make him stand out as something to be feared, imo.
Sort of compared to Jack-giving Jack Frost a shepherd's crook didn't just make him stand out from other versions of the character, but it's also an inspired design choice. I say this because of what a crook represents: guiding a flock away from harm. Not sure if the creators had that same idea in mind, but thematically, it's a very subtle form of character development for Jack and further juxtaposes him with Pitch, in spite of their similarities. Jack isn't willing to sacrifice others' well-being for his own gain like Pitch is, no matter how lonely and unseen he feels.
Personally, I would've preferred if Pitch had been animated more like Eris from Sinbad; it'd make a lot of sense for him to be enshrouded in constantly moving dark wisps, instead of simply being all pale, grey skin, and sharp angles. Imagine his hair like that! It'd have matched with the Nightmares, at least, and Pitch could've been a sort of shapeshifter, like how real nightmares have distorted imagery that can constantly change. Taking on others' appearances, but in an off, uncanny valley way. Would've made him way scarier if he could project your own fears in the real world, so you're essentially seeing your nightmares come to life instead of just having bad dreams. They could've toyed with the shapeshifting aspect a lot.
Looking at Pitch Black’s design, I feel like if there was an animated film adaptation of The Gunslinger, then this would be perfect for The Man in Black, Roland Deschain’s arch nemesis.
Funny story about Rise of The Guardians, during a early screening of Guardians of The Galaxy, the projectionist accidentally showed Rise of The Guardians instead. It took them three times before they got the movie right.
That aside, I liked this movie quite a bit when I saw it. Perhaps a rewatch is in order.
I do remember Risevof the Guardians, and think it’s a rather underrated gem. I did like Pitch, but wish that they took more from the version from the Book that the movie is inspired from. In that he’s actually a former guardian, that was tasked to guard all the nightmares that had been captured. But years of being at this post alone let him be susceptible to the nightmares influence when they took the form of his daughter. Causing him to release them and be infected, and corrupted by them. Making him into the king of nightmares. Oh and his daughter is Mother Nature.
Allot could be don’t from that.
Just wanted to let anyone who didn’t know RotG was loosely based off the Guardians of Childhood books by William Joyce. It focused on the origins of Santa, the Easter bunny, etc, along with Pitch Black’s cast and new characters. So if that sounds interesting I’d recommend trying them out
It’s so frustrating that mediocre films like Minions, Cars, and Boss Baby rake in the big bucks, but great films like Ride of the Guardians, and Kubo and the Two Strings flop.
It's always sad to see how what you feel is a good movie do bad, and it's nice you talked about it. Merry Christmas J and give the same to M, and I hope to see more for the next year.
While not specifically a Christmas movie, I really adore this film. It has really good pacing as well as the likeable cast. I bust it out at least once a year like many peole do the Nightmare Before Christmas. I'll be watching it attains l again soon with my dad, some time between Christmas and New Year (per his request)
Apparently this DreamWorks film came out the same year as Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted which still remains as their highest grossing Non-Shrek film to this day and then this film became one of their biggest flops. (At the time)
It amazes me how many DreamWork films are underappreciated. Megamind deserves so much more and now that they're finally coming back to it, it looks so much *worse.* T-T Also Pitch being less creative was actually a great choice because it created a huge contrast between him and the Guardians. While the Guardians are bright and colorful both visually and personality wise helps makes Pitch's sinister nature stand out more as he literally drains and destroys all that brightness though his actions. The fact that he's so unassuming ironically made him stand out more.
That movie was incredible well done , on script and technique .
And it was a fun movie , so yes , it is Underrated ....
No wonder why this and Madagascar 3 were the last 2 DreamWorks films to be distributed by Paramount before they would move to 20th Century Fox and Universal, however I do consider this an Underrated gem, I honestly don't mind Chris Pine as Jack Frost since I find his performance better than he did in Disney's Wish, and it's nice to see this film get such a cult following years later despite it's poor Box-office performance even becoming the 3rd lowest grossing DreamWorks movie along side Sinbad and Ruby Gillman, but hopefully DreamWorks can look back at their history and maybe do something special for their 30th anniversary next year.
I didn’t watch it for the first time until a few years ago and enjoyed it! I plan on watching it again soon.
Personally Rise of the Guardians is one of my favourite movies to watch during Christmas, even if it isn't a Christmas movie, I enjoy watching it.
Well after, Klaus, Arthus saves Christmas and Elf. What can I say? Christmas has some strong competition.
This is one of my all-time favourite movies. I've seen it *dozens* of times lol
Agree this movies super underrated. Honestly I would love to see it come back as a TV show, that way there would be more time to give all the characters enough spotlight
I'm watching this one again myself sometime before the end of the year.
It had the misfortune of releasing the same month as Wreck-It Ralph, which turned out to be a phenomenon. Such a shame too, it was easily one of DreamWorks' best, right up there with the best of How to Train your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda and MegaMind.
Actually I have a theory of this movie. It's about the man in the moon. Ok hear me out, the man in the moon (in this movie) is the DreamWorks logo Itself!!
Think about it, the man in the moon has always been mentioned throughout the movie especially with regards to jacks character arc. So my theory is that the boy in the moon (the DreamWorks logo) used his fishing line to bring jack out of the icey lake. The reason why I say this is also because of the themes of childhood joy, fun, innocence and believing and the DreamWorks logo has a KID IN THE MOON!!!
But hey, that's just a theory. A FILM THEORY!!!!
I went to the theaters to see this!!!
Thanks for talking about this movie🤩🤩🤩
Same!!! Movie is good!
This movie has the only Santa that can kick butt!
It definitely needs a sequel!!
Yeah, this was a great film, was sad to hear it didn't do well back then. I remember heavily about the Jack and Elsa shipping. I didn't care for shipping in general, but even I saw it and went "Yeah I can see that."
Not a crackship I'm partial to, but I _do_ understand why people like it and it has a lot of good fan art, so I'll give it that. 🤷
I’m not a crackshipper myself but Jack x Elsa is the only exception for me
I like how different dreamwork movies look.
I would absolutely adore a sequel to this movie, it still captures my imagination and child like wonder (despite me being in my 30s). I would like to see if they go a bit darker if a sequel ever gets made. It really is too bad that this film had such bad luck when it first released, such a shame.
Maybe this movie should have been called "The Holiday Guardians".
This and Treasure Planet😭
Ah, yes. The film that scored Peter Ramsey his directorial position on Into the Spider-Verse. That fun fact aside, this was a fantastic little film that deserved the world. Sure, it was hurt by the general image of it as “holiday Avengers”, but it’s a sweet, charming, and heartfelt picture that cleverly reinterprets mythical holiday figures through William Joyce’s lens.
Wow, I never saw this one. I just thought it wouldn’t be for me, but your recommendation carries a lot of weight with me. I notice it is on one of the streaming services I am subscribed to, so I will watch it in the next few days before Christmas is over! ❄️
Hope you like it!
@@mjtannertwins I loved it! Compelling, original story, likeable characters… Everything that is missing from most modern movies.
It was funny, too! And not in a way where the characters are so flippant about everything that there is no real sense of threat (looking at you, Marvel).
As an Australian, I very much appreciated Hugh Jackman’s Easter Bunny. He must have had some input into his dialogue, because there is a LOT of genuine Aussie slang (“rack off, you bloody show pony!” 😆)
Thanks so much for putting this movie in my life! 👍🏻
@@taffysaur So happy to hear that! Merry Christmas!😄
I remember shipping Jack and Tooth so hard.
Holy crap, I literally just watched this film yesterday. What timing, man…But yeah, this film’s GOATed.

@@mjtannertwins Has anyone read the books?
I saw this the year it came out, one of the few movies I’ve ever made an effort to go see within the month that it released. I went in hyped, and came out a bit under-whelmed. You have a point about the title being an issue, but they also spend a lot of their run time doing things that aren’t related to catching Pitch. I get it, the Guardians all have jobs that can’t be put on hold. That said, they are there to guard against him. There should at least be a small faction of each of their armies meant to go and search for signs of Pitch. Very clearly, too, the animation team was head-over-heels for the world-building. The story gets a little forgotten, and dragged out longer than it needs to be for the desire for world-building.
I like the movie. It is exactly the kind of thing I’m into. I think they ought to have made a series out of it. That way they could get in their world-building, better establish how busy and out-of-touch the Guardians have become, work more on Jack trying to find out what his purpose is without the Guardians, and introduce Pitch later in the show, that way the conflict doesn’t have to feel forgotten, and the side plots can get a little more care and attention.
My family and I loved this movie! I never realized how bad it had done. Such a shame.
Jack was 17/18 when he died; counting the fact that most teenage boys by that point have also gone through puberty and some naturally have deeper voices.
Considering it was the 1700s he likely would’ve had to grow up pretty quickly to help support his family - on top of 300 years of isolation as the now rebirthed Jack Frost, having Chris Pine voice him helps drive home to the viewer that Jack is a lot more than what he looks on the surface. As much as he’s all about fun and goofing around, deep down he is also wise in ways only a centuries old spirit/older brother figure could be; and that’s why he’s the perfect mentor for the children. A balance between doing the right thing and having fun while at it. Also, JELSA MENTIONED 😩
Same here
I love this movie so much and it deserves so much respect and recognition. Glad there's still a loyal fanbase but, still
And was everyone confused when they said that rise of the guardians 2 was coming out this year on December or any other month but it didn’t come out so did it get cancelled or they are still working on this movie but this movie does deserve a lot of love and I hope that sequel comes out
Ps your video is really good and I hope your doing well sorry if the top comment didn’t express it ❤
Maybe a reboot. Each character could get their own movie, then join up for The Rise movie.
I want a TV series
It did get pretty popular cause of Jack Frost 😏😏. Just like the Lorax and other movies hehehehe 😏😏😏
i have seen it and did like it, i had given the source of the movies some looks, ie the books but mostly videos about it or the wiki. i did like the origin for pitch we did not get in the movie and i would probably have perferd it if he looked like he does in the books, which could almost be described as dracula like. to summarise his origin he was a fantasy space human champion that lead the battle against fear/shadow creatures, imprisoned them and volonteerd to guard them. after enduring the constant whispers of the creatures for years he was eventually broken and tricked into opening their prison and was swithly possesd and became the big bad.
Rise of the Guardians was my favorite movie as a kid! I actually was unaware that it did poorly financially since I was young, that's shame. Glad to see that I'm not the only one who knows what this movie is though. Kinda funny that a movie with a central mechanic of belief/awareness is almost completely unknown nowadays.
Maybe this is just me being really, REALLY sick of titles starting with ''Rise of'', but I always thought they should have stuck with ''The Guardians of Childhood'' as the title. It sounds less generic and more charming.
I think the reason the powers went to the stick is because magic doesn’t really flow around, it needs a vessel to be in. If anyone knows scarrlet witch(aka Wanda) from avengers, she has magic. It doesn’t just float around her, it’s stored within her and released through the mind and body. The reason the magic of Jack Frost Is in the stick primarily is because that magic needed a vessel. Also, if we look at Elsa, her powers are within her and it also affects her body in a way. Also the fact that stick showed up out of nowhere pointed out THAT was the vessel for the magic. Also love in my opinion is considered magic, jack used the hook-shaped stick to save his sister and swap places with her so she didn’t die of hypothermia(the cold). If anyone else has theories to add to this reply below!
I bought it on Blu-Ray several years ago, it was a really fun watch!
My family usually watches it around Easter funnily enough
YESSSSS I LOVE THIS MOVIEEEEE❤️❤️❤️
It's based on a children's book series so there's plenty of material to work with, but what gets me is that it didn't bomb that hard especially considering it's competition, it could of been worse, but now you look at the Troll movies and none of them have been box office successes each one falling short yet they made three 🤷
If that's true, then my guess is that Trolls sells a lot of merchandise. Animation is actually a financial loss, and this counts anime. Merchandising is what truly helps an animation studio stay afloat, sadly.
As a fan of both RotG and Trolls, can agree that Trolls lends itself so much better to merchandising than RotG does.
You have fantastical, colorful creatures in a fantasy world with internal rules and logic that lends itself well to the imagination. Trolls 2 introduced genres, which expanded the types of troll type characters and environments one can draw from. Trolls 3 expanded the world again and also introduced new species of characters and environments which also lends itself to new stuff to draw from. Not saying RotG couldn’t have achieved that same thing as the books the movie is based on is quite rich for storytelling, but it is limited by the fact it takes place in a real world setting and the style they went with for the characters requires more focus to keep everyone on model.
Not to mention Trolls is a musical based franchise so that’s another avenue they can expand to. There’s a lot of covered songs in the movies, but there’s also a decent amount of original songs that are honestly pretty good. “Can’t Stop the Feeling” I know was pretty popular, “Born to Die” and “Perfect For Me” were banger originals (not sure how often they played on the radio, as I’m more on the country over pop side), and most of the Trolls 3 soundtrack were either written for the movie or like Fairy Godmother’s “I Need a Hero” were great covers. Not to mention Trolls 3 was released when NSYNC were performing re-union shows, and the group had recorded “Better Place” as a bonus on the Trolls album. I’m personally more inclined to the Brozone song since I grew to like those characters more and was never an NSYNC fan, but I’m sure fans appreciated it.
All that to say is that a movie/show makes a lot of its money back through licensing and merchandising. Not every movie/show needs to of course, but most will and that does affect how companies will design and produce their entertainment. When comparing RotG and Trolls, it’s a no brainer which property will win the merchandising competition. So even if both movies underperform in theaters, a movie like Trolls can cushion that failure with merchandise sales while a movie like RotG can’t do the same thing. It does suck sometimes, but that’s just the way the cookie crumble sometimes.
I remember seeing this movie when it released in theaters. It was very underrated.
I love Rise of the Guardians so much, the designs are creative and i like what each of the characters stand for. I even watched music videos of people mixing "Prince of Egypt" music with RotG footage, and it blends really well. I recommend you check them out.
I like this film and hope there will be a good sequel... I mean, there was at least one prominent 'Guardian' that was strangely absent from this... who could be an interesting and perhaps mischievous antagonist & misunderstood anti-villain/spooky prankster... someone that represents Halloween and who the others are wary or are afraid of, Pumpkin Jack O'Lantern... (Not to be confused with Jack Skeleton from Nightmare Before Christmas, mind),... Who actually turns sort of good, but not really, in the end, and (helps) stop the real big bad main villain of this, who turns out to be Santa's evil arch-rival, the evil Krampus. Hmm..?
I loved this movie when it came out. I wished that there was more stories and lore I could get into, and found out way later there were books.
5:17 I imagined shoto’s voice
It does dersevre better and if anything It brings back the Nostalgia of our childhood and I miss it so much
Has anyone read the books?
Yo! 👍🫡
No, but I plan to very soon.
I did!
I love Rise of the Guardians! It’s one of my favorite Dreamworks movies!
I said it before and I'll say it again had this movie came out within the last few years then it no doubt would've gotten a trilogy and a TV show in between movies similar to httyd and kung fu panda and just think about the other guardians they'd have either on the team or they'd have to fight like the groundhog, cupid, leprechaun, krampus etc but such a shame that this movie came out at the wrong time and it hurts me every time I think about what could've been.
I watch it every Christmas even tho it's not a Christmas movie technically. If they add Dreamworks to universal theme park they need to have guardians as a holiday thing
Loved this movie. It's incredibly rewatchable too
Agreed this movie is so underrated!
I think it is better than it deserves to be. They were writing a story for kids. It does not have to be as good as it is. And it is very good. There is better character development in 5 minutes than 95% of all movies that have come out since 2015.
Kubo and the Two Strings deserved better as well.
I love Kubo!
This and Ruby Gillman teenage kraken deserved better.
You can say that again. Despite the fact Ruby Gilman was not a box office success it has been doing well on home media and streaming service and it did manage to make his money back so there is a possibility that we could get a sequel in the form of a TV series we have to wait and see
@@animezilla4486 I won't get my hopes up but I'd love that.
@@animezilla4486 I totally could see a TV series of Ruby midway through the movie. A slice of life kinda thing with Ruby juggling her duties as a Kraken and her school life. New creatures, monsters, other guardian warrior types, the blueprints are pretty much there.
@@benbayford1756 keep in mind plenty of DreamWorks movies that didn't do well in the box office but manage getting TV series for example: Mr Peabody & Sherman and abominable
@@jendoe9436 I agree 👍
Anyone else think that The Sandman deserved a redemption arc at the end? I was kind of surprised he went down a total villain.
You mean Pitch? Not sure about a redemption arc, but I probably would've made him more of a neutral figure. Fear isn't always bad, after all. There's a type of fear that helps keep people alive or prevents them from making bad choices. I haven't read the books yet, but to my understanding, Pitch is a total villain there although he doesn't start out as one.
Rise of the Guardians is in the top 5 of my favorite DreamWorks movies; right after The Prince of Egypt and the How to Train Your Dragon films. I love this movie so much that I saw it four times in the theater when it first came out. It's always been such a shame it never got a sequel. On a side note; Jack Frost's hair always reminds me of Roxas/Ventus from Kingdom Hearts. 🤣
I love Dreamwork rise of the guardians Especially Jack Frost cool on Tumblr is part of the rise of the brave tangle dragon fanfiction! I even drew a picture of that fan fiction!
FAX!!!! Also you're wrong, the title is perfect considering it's an adaptation & the books are titled "The Guardians"
For making Madagascar 4 and Shrek 5 there's peoples but nobody for Rise of the guardians? That's dissapointing! This movie is good, has wonderful backgrounds and music, charming characters, action and magic. I like it 🥰I hope it gets a tv show with a villain based on the headless horseman. He could control fire and capture naughty kids. Jack and Tooth could be in lvoe ad fight him, that would be cool to see! I want to see them again not another Madagascar or Boss baby series.
It’s too bad because it’s not a bad movie.
In polish it is called "Guardians of Dreams". Wich only Sandman is qialified as a "guardian of dreams".
i agree rise of the guardians was so underrated in my opinion
Watched it for the first time earlier this year, it was cool
It reeeaally should’ve gotten at least an extra short of just the gang doing stuff or Jack getting into more trouble or something, you know?
I think the movie was great and this video should have been longer 😃👍
yeah it's not bad. thought I did pick wreck it Ralph over it when it came out. you should check out the book series if you want more info
Nobody tell Tumblr about Static Shock. I do not want to find out who they ship Permafrost with.
I wonder if Josh Keaton or James Arnold Taylor would have been better roles for Jack Frost. I honestly don't mind his original voice actor though.
Other movies that deserved better are 1) Treasure Planet, 2) Star Trek The Motion Picture 3) Ratchet and Clank, 4) The Mummy III: The Dragon Emperor 5) The Phantom 6) The Shadow, 7) The Passengers. 8) Zarathura, and 9) Tim Burton’s Planet of the 🦍🦧.
It is an underrated gem.
Rise of the Guardians was okay. I like it better then Polar Express. There's some things that bother me though. Like, if they lose their power when no one believes in them, why do they go to greats lengths to stay secret? And why is it called "Rise" of the Guardians when they are already an established group at the start of the film?
This could’ve been Dreamworks big franchise.
Release time right around Skyfall and Breaking Dawn part 2, that fucked Dreamworks in the ass there. They still made the best movie out of the big ones (and it was also better than Wreck it Ralph, even if just by a small amount) and it deserves much more attention.
The only movie Pine has been in that I liked.
This movie is so enjoyable!
Such a good movie.
It was a fun movie.
The movie was fine. I think the villain was pretty boring but all the guardians were fun to watch.
YEAH!!
Couldn't agree more
It is a super movie, and I was in it! :)
There's nothing wrong with having Alac Baldwin in a movie. He hasn't done anything wrong. Yes, someone died whilst filming his movie, but if the *family* of the lady that died don't blame him, neither should the rest of us.
Of course this movie deserves better I cannot believe this movie Lost to Twilight
I think the reason people didn't watch it because people don't like the idea of holiday characters are warriors like the Avengers.
This looks good but tumber is a hive I refuse to go near
That's fair, in all honesty.
