She said she was shy and awkward and no one noticed her. He was super popular and charismatic in school. Basically, they ARE their characters and I love that lol.
Leo has such a sweet nature and that showed in the softer side of Dexter, the real acting for Leo came with the out of control entitled coke head which he played brilliantly, their on screen chemistry reminded me so much of “ the way we were” with Barbara Streisand & Robert Redford back in the 70s
@@deniseclevenstine1712 I agree with you 100%. I've been thinking about it all series and was surprised that no one writes about it. "The Way We Were" is also a film that I really love, and I can review many times, in many ways the characters are very similar. Stories end in different ways, in one day - more fabulously, in the story of Katie and Hubble, the end is much sadder, because they still broke up.
@@deniseclevenstine1712yeah, I think this is why the character was more likable in the show than the film, as you can see his charm but also a soft side shining through
She's like the perfect girl to play the character she's playing because I feel she's like that in real life. A knowledgable and very eloquent girl, such as Emma
the way when he’s talking about Love Actually, and says “huge crush”, and cue quick glance at her. but this read could just be me pining and crushed over one day.
This series was fantastic! They could go so much more in depth than the movie was able to. I binged it fast. Great casting, great acting, great script and great production. 👏
The show: had me sobbing & a ball of emotions The interviews I’m bingeing at 2 am after the show: has me smiling ear to ear like a goof & slowly making me whole again 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
I watched the show two days ago, and I still can’t get it out of my head. Emma and Dexter felt so real to me-I loved them both and rooted for them through every twist and turn. Their story was beautiful, messy, and so deeply human. But Emma’s death completely shattered me. It was so unexpected and heartbreaking, yet it gave the story an even deeper meaning. This show is such a powerful reminder of how fragile life is and how important it is to cherish the people we love. Seeing that so many others feel the same way has been comforting-it shows just how deeply this story has touched people. I’ve been watching TH-cam interviews with the cast and creators, and finding new content about Emma and Dexter has really helped me process it. How has everyone else been coping with that emotional ending?
This was sooooo beautiful! I loved the movie, and I fell in love even more with the series version. Thank you sooooo much for making this - and for making us realize how beautiful our own “One Day” can be. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I finished yesterday. And it was fabulous. Emma and Dexter are perfect couple. Chemistry between them is amazing. But all cast were grate. Thank you for the series and the conversation❤
Just finished watching the whole series and I loved it ♥️💕😍🥰 BUT... The last episode broke my heart into pieces…emotional damage unlocked 💔😔😭😭😭😭 #Dex&Emforever ♾️🫶
Binges watched it so fast. One of my favorite movies but i cant with the ending. It literally destroys me so i dont waych the ending lol same here not watched last episode i can tell it was goi g to destroy me more than the movie. I love them! Perfect casting
It's hurtful. It's about how real love finds its way no matter what. Its gonna make you realize diff facets of life and love. 😊 Hope you could visit Philippines soon! ❤❤❤
I really enjoyed the chemistry between those two, actually I loved it. And the music is so very nice! Like the beautiful songs of Joan Armatrading “Love and Affection”, “Save Me” and Lilac Wine performed by Jeff Buckley. So nice chosen, hartbreaking🫶
Why would you ask Ambika…..what were you like at school? Seriously that’s the best conversation you thought of. How about Ambika tell me about your last boyfriend, something romantic …… Leo you were playing safe so your girlfriend won’t get mad at you.
One Day, it's A1 in my book of must-see shows on Netflix, as I wrote earlier, I felt we were dealing with the same growing up issues we all face, lack of maturity being a biggie, especially in this particular storyline. You could be forgiven for thinking Emma is streets ahead of Leo in the grown up area. In my opinion, you're wrong of course, they are both lost in the valley of self-awareness, problem with that is, there's no such thing as a valley of awareness, so I guess, that they are still caught up in the 'it's all about me and how I feel about everything BS.' Neither of them know it, but they are pretty much on the same bus, the same ride, but being so much more interested in themselves, they are looking for a night off from the same old ride, and we all know what 'ride' means for Leo, a regular journey, a bit of part-time travel away from that most frightening of things, growing up. Emma's the same, she's just decided to not be as obvious as someone like Leo, and has opted for the scenic route! Somewhere, lost in all that growing up, which involves an awful lot of self-centred thinking and behaviour, these two people, have, and they are totally unaware of it, because self has a habit of hiding the most interesting, and sometimes the most important things at precisely the right, or wrong moment, in this case, it's right, because they ain't ready for what this might turn out to be. The Charles Dickens quote says it all, does it not! I've noted comments such as Leo carries it, that why I watched it right through, that one was enough to make me gag on me coffee, ya what, I thought? Wouldn't it have been more authentic to say something like, I fancied Leo, I wish I was Emma! Now, back for what I settled for! The thing is, this film/show has a rare chemistry in play, it's not often you see it, whoever supervised the casting knew what they were about. But, the genius is in the telling of the story, so after giving the actors their fair dues, and they sure deserve the high praise they are both getting! There are three stars in this series, your two main actors, and the writer of the original book, David Nicholls, after watching this particular Netflix series, I intend taking a look at some of this author's other work. Might I suggest, if you can get it in your area, hemisphere, check out ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE, another Netflix series, different, significantly from ONE DAY. But, like ONE DAY, I've got to say it, it's special. The original author is Anthony Doerr. Mr Doerr won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for this particular Tome, an award, I would have say, that is very much deserved. Same thing happened with this series as happened after I saw ONE DAY on Netflix, I immediately went out and purchased the book, very smart of me to have done so, what a marvellous book, what an incredible imagination Mr Doerr has! Different genre, yes, but both writers share the same immensely thrilling ability to write a captivating novel! Such a treat!
I binge watched and I’m unable to say goodbye, so here I am
So that makes two of us then :)
Do you know where to watch it other than netflix ?
Same hereee😢
same
Literally same
She said she was shy and awkward and no one noticed her. He was super popular and charismatic in school. Basically, they ARE their characters and I love that lol.
the definition of perfect casting

They’re legit Emma and dex in real life 😂

Me!!
Me! Today.
Me! Everyday
Me 💔
That’s totally me right now 😢
This seriously needs some awards. Everything was too beautiful.
Ambika is so similar to Emma! She makes jokes with a straight face I love that abt her. And Leo is such a bby girl he’s so sweet
bby girl is so accurate 🤣😩

Me too. Just finished it. BAWLING 😭
I cried during the entire last episode and about half an hour after.

I could feel their chemistry… still rewatching 😅
I’m watching the interviews so that I can laugh and recover and know she’s alive, it gives me some kind of comfort.
Same here😭😭
I love Ambika doing the shoulder shimmy😭😭 2:54
Makes the answer even better
If they don’t win the Emmy’s next year, I will be mad.
They better
Yes !😅
Yes, each need to win an Emmy and each need to win a Bafta. Nothing less will satisfy.
I'm here to say they weren't even nominated 🥲so unfair
The way his face turned red when she teased him about winning 2 awards 😂
the way when he’s talking about Love Actually, and says “huge crush”, and cue quick glance at her.
but this read could just be me pining and crushed over one day.

Ambika looks great with her hair up. 😊
The hand brushing ambikas shoulder after the uni real life story is just so so kind and sweet hahahaha

This was sooooo beautiful! I loved the movie, and I fell in love even more with the series version. Thank you sooooo much for making this - and for making us realize how beautiful our own “One Day” can be. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Looks like they’re basically playing themselves, so fantastic casting 👏🏻👏🏻🥇👏🏻 Excellent series ! Really enjoyed it / emotionally wrecked by it ♥️

Great drama all about life love and loss ups and downs. I really felt his pain at the end. Couldn't warm to Emma & her character.
i know he has a gf but he gets so shy around her, its cute
I think he's got a mad crush on her. And I think the feeling is mutual which is lovely ❤️😊
