- After five years of growing out his hair, Julien decides after his 17th birthday to CUT IT ALL OFF the day of Prom May 18-2013. One of his teachers tried to kick him out of the classroom the next day because he didn't recognize him!
The hair was cut in ponytails so that it could be saved for wig making. This was his idea and decision to cut his hair. He was not talked in to it by family or his girlfriend, who all loved his hair. He was just tired of taking care of it and wanted a change after MANY years of having long hair. Don't freak out people IT IS JUST HAIR. It grows back very quickly. Current update. For those who think that the short hair looks great, he is currently sporting a buzz cut due to his continued participation as a fire explorer.
For those who think it is a waste of beautiful hair, I agree. It was gorgeous, and it made me sad to see it go. But choosing to seek a career as a real life hero is a bit more satisfying for him than sporting gorgeous locks.
He is still dating the same wonderful girl (3 years now) and still studying classical guitar in college as well as emergency medicine.

My son is now 20 and just graduating from medic school, working in the local ER, and contemplating studying medicine instead of pursuing a career with the fire department (the reason for the haircut). I loved the long hair, and maybe someday he will decide to grow it again. My oldest looks like Grizzly Adams with a full beard and long hair. LOL

Sorry to disappoint you Cristina Mihaela, he may not be perfect, but he is a nice guy. While he could probably make a decent runway model at 6'1" and 165 lbs. He actually is a classical guitar major, has dated the same girl for over a year and a half and is currently doing firefighter explorer training with the city fire department.

Tan Tan Wow, you are a totally negative person. And FYI when this video was taken he was only 17. My son has never failed at anything because he has always been a hard working and driven individual. His high school guitar quartet won several national competitions, so he's doesn't just play guitar. He has already passed his paramedic training and chooses to work in an ER while he finishes college, where he does plenty of good for others including poor people. He is a kind hearted person who plans to spend his life helping others, not just a pretty face.

This reminds me of my son. He had hair all the way down his back. Not quit as long as this gentleman, but still very long. He decided he was tired of it and shaved it all off. I was so sad. I loved his long hair. Not all men can wear their hair really long and look good. This gentleman and my son are 2 of those men. He also looks fantastic with his new haircut. Great job to the stylist!

This haircut was 7 years ago and people keep asking about current hair length. He has kept it short ever since this haircut. Has no plans to grow it long again. He and GF he was dating at the time are now engaged, so he is still happily taken. Sorry ladies. And for people who complain about lower video quality please keep in mind this video is older and the pixel quality wasn’t as good back then.

Saving the hair for human wigs is such an honorable thing to do. People with cancer need that.
Being a long hair myself, I agree that it's sad to see. But as a longhair he earned the right to cut it too. A lot of the people who are saying they would never do it are the ones who would never have the courage to grow it in the first place.

I am very fortunate to have very nice, thick hair that grows fast. Over the last 15 years I have been able to donate it 4 times (10 inches or more). Just recently, I had over a foot cut off to donate. I initially started in honor of the woman who made my career when I found out she had brain cancer, until it unfortunately became in memory. As Wendy said, it's only hair and it grows back. I know I will do it again, too.
If you are lucky to have thick hair, think of the children who could benefit from it.

I've been growing my hair out and cutting it every year for the past 4-5 years. Longest I've had it was from August 2012 - August 2013, was roughly 6' long. I had what most females would call beautiful light-brunette medium/long hair 'depending on how you look at it'. Main reason why I cut it after 1 year was because my scalp isn't really tolerant to the sun's raise when it's long hair+heat and because I live 'Down South', it really isn't that awesome. I think having long hair is awesome and I would love to keep it but in work environments it can easily get caught even if it is pulled back and pony-tailed or with a hat covering it. I actually like growing my hair out but I watch videos on TH-cam with hair styles and different hair-cuts you can do and I just say," Whatever", and go with it. By now, my family is used to me doing it after many times of me doing it. Just yesterday I cut the sides and the back of my hair off and I have about 2 1/2 inches in length on the top of my head but going to cut it all off tomorrow possibly. I have been told I look more mature and more manly with almost shaved but like with a clipper on the razor-shaven. That is why I do it. Plus, now my beard is starting to come in now after shaving for 5 years, it'll look even more mature. Not saying guys with long hair aren't mature, because it is all in personality.

princeicio He was lucky that he went to the LVA performing arts high school and there were plenty of other guys with long hair. His was so beautiful and well maintained that most of the comments he got were from girls saying they were jealous and wanting to play with it.

Generally I much prefer long hair on men but the textures in the new cut suit his features better. He could have gotten the same effect with styling his long hair too. Also, I've known firemen and cops with really long hair, tying it up is a good compromise.

I loved watching this. His hair was gorgeous and I am speaking to the quality and condition of it . But think of the nice wigs it can go into making for people that possible don't have hair or can't enjoy beautiful locks.
Our hair and our appearance doesn't make us who we are but we ARE judged initially by our outward appearance. I love that he got a short masculine cut. In this day/age were living in where it's become fashionable to blur those lines between the TWO sexes ( and their ARE only 2) it's really nice to make this distinction . Is he growing it back?
No. He wants to pursue a career with the Las Vegas Fire Department. So it will remain short for that. He is currently active in a youth program, Fire Explorers, that is why it must be short now. This is why I let my kids do anything they wanted with their hair at a young age. He has had bleached hair, a mohawk, long hair. Now he has chosen a career that he needs to be clean cut, and he can say "I already had my fun with that."

It will continue to stay short for now. He wants to be a fireman and is in a training program for teens that is run by the local department so it has to stay short for that. If he becomes a fireman I think it is a fair trade.
