To clarify on the TGP, clarity and stablizer module AFTER the clipper regarding phae. I mention placing the clipper second for whenever I am using a shelf or pass filter (mainly pass filters) The phase rotation at the crossover freq on pass filters are much more aggressive and will shift the clipped peaks noticable. Wheras the minimal amount of ohase from the clarity module and stablizer (although present) doesn’t shift it so hard it becomes an issue
@@panorama_mastering hey my bro can you plese show in a video how you use the vintage limiter before the ozone 11 maximize ??? every time i try to use this instead of a clipper it fucks up the way that the maximize reacts
No problem! I thought the whole FCPX session was corrupted I almost faced not being able to release this :O

Hi Nicholas, have you found any easier ways to determine the appropriate clipping ceiling number rather than your usual way of using de-clipping and visually guessing it? Can’t we use any measurement tools in the middle of the chain?
Could you clarify one thing I've been thinking about since watching your videos? Is it pointless to clip on Buses (for instance I use: melodic bus, bass bus, drum bus, vocal bus, and overall instrument bus before feeding into master) if you are going to potentially EQ, Multiband, or Filter the Master? It seems it would make no sense to clip anything before the master if you are only going to move those clipped peaks somewhere lower (?) on the waveform. You would just get brand new peaks to deal with and unnecessary distortion? Your videos are so fkn helpful!
Thank you for sharing this Nicholas! I've been using so much more in Ozone because of your videos and I hear mastering in a whole new way. It gives me so much appreciation for it :)
Do you normally do just one clipping stage at the beginning? You dont do several different clipping stages or clipping with different settings? (i.e. first a hard clipper for shaving most offending peaks, then soft clipping to "massage" the remaining peaks and improving crest factor, etc)
@@panorama_mastering what about the output of maximizer ?? if you want to upload to spotify or something like that will you still use a output ceiling of -0.1 ?

Thanks for yet another amazing video (and now audio too...)!!! I have been following the newsletter since day one and implemented quite some things into my workflow. One thing I recently used the last maximizer for (which I love for true peaks) was dithering. I had an amazing reverb outro, that sounded horrible, when bounced in 16 bit. How do you handle that? I know your opinion on dithering, and I wonder how you implement it in this kind of master processing.
hello sir, very good content, I have been following your channel for a while now, and I came across some of your videos about mastering and limiters and you suggested turning off TRUE PEAK LIMITING and use oversampling and leave leave -0.5 ceiling instead, my question now is how do u account for the -2dBTP advised by sites like Spotify, because after encoding it might sound kind of distorted on sites like Spotify and Instagram, thank you
Question: when using a multiband clarity (or any other mb effect) after the clipper, shouldnt the principle of phase rotation + clipping apply as well?
I'd love to hear what you can do with something soft and jazzy, or soft rock-ish... mostly acoustic instruments . Not everyone is trying to do loud, electronic music. ;) cheers

Hello mate, thanks for this awesome video, as always :) I hope you didn't release a video about my question haha I don't have a lot of TH-cam time, but do you use dynamic eq in your master? I find tone booster eq really nice, transparent like fabfilter but with a lot of parameters, and I thought about this because your ozone chain reminded me of my dynamic eq I use for mastering!

Thanks for clarifying! Superb content! I studied a ton of your videos as of this point and highly appreciate your in-depth knowledge. Cheers
Ok thanks!
Definitely thanks for clarifying, because I was like hmmm god particle has EQs and clarity so he's contradicting himself?
Is that izotope 11 standard or advanced? And is it worth upgrading?
Same for The God Particle?
Can we please stop for a second and appreciate just how good the audio material aka music is he chooses and that artists approve for the videos?

Ok, so a lot to compartmentalise here. Where get into the geekery around IMD and summing…. Time for a new video I think ;)

need a dedicated video on HOW TO MIX BASS GUITARs( and how to approach bass guitar tones in context of different genres.)
Good idea!

Love your videos! Do you use Dynameter and do you think it can be useful?
Ahh my ears arn't broken! Thank the loard!!! 🎉😂❤
Still working!
@@panorama_mastering what about the output of maximizer ??
if you want to upload to spotify or something like that will you still use a output ceiling of -0.1 ?
3:03 love it that you don't cut that out. Gives me the feeling of talking (or listening) to a friend :)
Ah man. Fixed an issue i was searching.. thx
So do plugins like the Ozone stabilizer or The God Particle (has built in eq) also create peaks through phase shift?

What about the low shelf boost that comes with TGP on 100% ? Regarding ”no EQ filter after clipping”

I forgot i was hooked up to Bluetooth in a different room, and i though you re uploaded muted to spite the comments on the last one

Wait, wait... surely The God Particle is enacting some kind of EQ on the master? Have you check for any phase rotation after that plug-in?

Aren't "God Particle" and "Clarity" partly EQ? So, shouldn't they be put on before the clipper?
They are dynamics processors hence feeding them with a clipped and controlled signal helps them behave consistently

Would you ever be open to a mentorship? I would love to learn from you.
With any given genere you hard clip first with standard tool?
No, this was a case study for this particular mix - master
Do you ever bypass the dynamics portion of TGP via the sidechain for your masters? do you also use TGP on the same mix? Thanks for the re-upload!
Sometimes!
There *IS AUDIO!*
YES! THe juice on the clipping positioning and my updated method / approach to that was too valuable NOT to publish.
@@panorama_mastering Agreed, I had not thought about phase shift post-clipper in the past. Thanks again for providing masterclass advice for free
Why tp? All these modern mixes are clipping up to 3db over tp
A bit more to discuss around that. Leave it with mr ;)
