I like how the pilot uses his thumb on the seat while he's raising the collective! A lot smoother control and more precise! Awesome video. Thanks for posting.
Fantastic video. Takes me back to my childhood. My father was an ag pilot. My youth was spent in 300c, 206 and Hiller 12e. The whine of the 206 transmission and blade slapping is music. You make the job look effortless. Well done and keep up the great work 👍🏾
Great POV of crop dusting showing control operations and resultant actions!. Such a light touch on collective and cyclic is required for large results. Much better video than side-mounted, worn, or too close overhead cameras. Please make more POV videos, including other types of excursions.
That's weird how this came up in my recommendations. I haven't seen or had anything to do with crop dusting or helicopters for about 15 years, since we sold our helicopter maintenance business. We had one customer who had a converted 47G, it was called a Tomcat. I always had a thing for the Bell 47's, they just look cool.
You are very correct! Physically tiring for sure, but mentally exhausting! I put 235 hrs in my logbook in just the month of July. Those days get LONG!!
I understand but you should thank's the life for the chance you have to do that job. Not like working 12hres a day in a shop with peoples you mostly don't want to be with.
I have found that the easiest way to record cockpit audio was with an iRig adapter plugged into an iPhone/iPad. You'll just need a U174 to 6mm audio cable and you're good to go. Your friendly avionics tech might help you with this for a six-pack. With this simple set up, your iPhone can hear everything you can hear. ATC + Cockpit. Then just add the audio track from your iPhone when you're editing your vids. www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irig2/ (I have the iRig 1, but I assume the iRig2 will work just as well)
Thank you very much for posting this! Your professionalism was highly evident as you made this risk filled flight look effortless. I’ve seen fixed wing crop dusters in action but never a helicopter. Truly enjoyed this so thanks again. Two quick questions if you have the time for a brief answer: What is the make of the chopper and also, being a watch freak, would love to know what the cool looking time piece is that you’re wearing?
@@crosswindaviationservicesl9022 Thank you much for the reply! I envy your profession as it is filled with challenges as well as much enjoyment I'm sure. Safe flying my friend and thanks again.
Those were very lazy turns. Small field with lots of obstacles so I try to keep things as "calm" as possible. In a large open field environment, I can get my turns (right or left) down to 6 seconds. I predominantly use the "skip" pattern and skip 1 row each pass. This allows the turns to be natural and keeps me from flying through any spray material.
Flying low has its dangers, for sure! Flying, as with many things in life, has a lot to do with risk vs. reward. Utility flying is very risky, but if there is a mission being accomplished, sometimes it’s worth taking that risk.
Are you still Ag spraying in NWI? I just got my fixed wing commercial license and am interested in getting a commercial rotary add on. I'd love to ask you a few questions if you have the time. At least now it's off season!
I am no longer spraying. Still flying helicopters as well as airplanes at a commercial level, just not ag. I’m always willing to talk anything aviation. Feel free to ask anything!
Brad Schrenk, it’s a 50gal job once a week that I do to help out. It’s a small farm and the owner lady can’t physically spray her own berries. I make up for it on the other 38,000 ac I spray during the fungicide season.
This was only 10ac sprayed at 5 gpa. I can easily carry 50 gal in one trip. We don't trailer the aircraft so it would've had to fly there anyway. I loaded before I left and saved a trip on the truck.
Odd way to do it, won’t the chopper blades blow the fart thin? My mom does it perfectly with a slow almost stahl right in the living room but only if she can be troublesome whilst doing it
About the art of flying ..perfect..But I noticed that in this case in seems that a conventional spraying method would be less harmful to the enviroment..since u waste lot of insectice or whatever. direct in the bare soil..Considering the space between the "trees" lets say..Correct somenone with a better knowledge..Please.
I’m impressed! Please comment with a link to the video! I know drones are getting better and better all the time but I haven’t seen one that could apply 5 GPA to 10ac in 6.5 min let alone have a payload of 420lbs to carry the 50gal of product necessary. Eager to see what you’re flying!
Love the camera view. Allows us to watch all the controls during flight. Great vid.

Must be hydraulic or has a tightener/tensioner, as some heli videos I have seen you can tell there is some muscle keeping collective steady.

Excellent, just a perfect video for helicopter pilots and no music. So glad TH-cam recommended this video🇦🇺🍻

Very cool ride-a-long. Perfect camera angle.
There's a video of a young guy dusting corn that is really good too. These are great videos and you have an awesome job!
I like the camera placement !!
Kind regards from Costa Rica nice flight
Thanks for the ride👍
So smooth. That's the sign of an expert in any machine.
Do you have an idea how focus the pilot has to be all the time... MENTAL KILLER JOB. Great video. Very good skill. THANK YOU.

I'm only 25 seconds in but I already know this is going to be a great video.
I will attempt more videos as time goes on. I'm also looking into options for ATC audio. A lot of what I'm doing now is in and out of O'hare airport.

Wow. Mad skill right there. Would love to get my rotor endorsement one day. Thanks for sharing! Liked and subbed!
Keep up with the videos. They are great.
10 second turns to the right. 15 second turns to the left. Not bad. I'm guessing you don't racetrack or cut ends up there.

Nice... love the sounds...
It was once my dream, but I can’t complain. 😊
How does one know where they left off after that turn?? Is it like a guessing game or ??

Wow, that is cool as liquid nitrogen. ❗
Makes is look so easy...
Why such a great distance from your heliport to the station?
This was only 10 acres and I could carry it all in one load. No reason for my truck to drive over there just to watch me do it.
May I ask how much that 12 mins of work cost that blueberry farmer??
Less than $200
Nathan Schrock so about a $1000 per hour?
Nathan Schrock how can you afford to stay in business by charging $200 and ferrying that far to the field?

thank nice video

i wonder how much of that shit you are breathing in or otherwise getting on your skin, both from the air and on the ground during preflight.
It is not clear what he is spraying, since crop dusting are used in organic farms as well.
