Great trail to hike, I’ve been hiking it for the last 40 years, winter and summer!
We had a lot of fun!
Absolutely beautiful falls nothing better than hiking though God's wilderness thanks for sharing your experience
We had the park mostly to ourselves all morning!
Thanks for taking us along your beautiful hike. Love the sound of the falls.
We had to almost shout at each other to be hear over the roar of the falls!
Falls are always on my visiting list. Very cool!
If you like waterfalls, this is the place for you!
Nature is so beautiful! Amazing views! Sounds like it was a great time 👍👍👍👍
We had a great time!
Wonderful hike in a beautiful historic part of the country. Thanks
MagDaughter is going to college nearby, so we will be exploring the area a lot.
Beautiful! Did roughly the same hike many years ago, when the kids were little. A hidden gem! Thanks
MagDaughter is going to college nearby, so we will probably be hiking there again!
That was amazing. Beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing. 👍
I'm glad you enjoyed it Robert!
Beautiful! Man at the waterfalls..Nice!
It is a beautiful spot!
Thanks for taking us along on your hike! Those were fantastic falls and so many of them. Great tips for the hike. That had to be fun eating lunch on that trail.
We had a great hike at Ricketts Glen!
Thank you for taking us along, very beautiful park.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
That was a great hike. So many water falls. I was hiking a few years ago after an overnight rain and found a Red Salamander that looked a lot like the one you found. Such a cute little guy and his expression was one to remember.
Thanks Dale! That little guy was in a hurry! I'm glad he stopped long enough for a photo!
Lots of falls to enjoy thanks for bringing us along looked like a great day outdoors
It was a great day Larry!
Fantastic place to hike..Thanks for sharing it.
We were fortunate that so much water was flowing. The water can be low in August.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. What a great day. Thank you for taking us along.
Thanks Robert! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the video. A very rugged set of trails. My feet and back would not be able to handle such conditions these days.
A lot of falls in such a short distance. The rain helped to show the power of the water.
The trail looked slippery. Glad no injuries.
Dave.
The rocks were surprisingly not slippery! It was a great hike and we were tired when we were done.
That's a beautiful part of the country. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Those stairs look like the trail is well maintained. It's a pleasure hiking on good trails like that.
The trail was recently damaged by storms and just re-opened in mid August.
what a great adventure thanks for sharing
We had a blast Jack!
A very doable day trip from my Central Maryland abode. Thanks for the review. By the way I think it was you that recommended the great book One Good Turn: A Natural History of the Screwdriver and the Screw by Witold Rybczynski. Excellent book and sooo much more than just the screwdriver and the screw. If our rest colleagues want a good historical read that flows like a novel, this is it. Two Thumbs Up For 357magdad.
I'm glad you liked the book! If you plan on visiting the falls, consider staying overnight in Wilkes-Barre.
WOW, such beautiful scenery there in USA. Nothing quite like that here in England. I admire your managing that hike - I couldn't possibly do it nowadays - age and hips are against me now ! Thanks for taking us along on your journey - awe inspiring sights. Take care 🙂
It was a challenging hike for us Michael - we're not kids anymore!
What a beautiful looking area It's sad to say I've never heard of Ricketts Glen State Park in PA until now That's to Mr and Mrs Magdad you should go back in the fall when the leaves are changing color take care looking forward to next Sundays Video
MagDaughter is going to college nearby, so we will be visiting the park often.
Amazing video. It reminds me so much of the northwest where we I live. I don't get out there enough. Thank you so much for the view of the country that you live in.
Mrs Magdad and I love to hike! I hope we both stay in good enough shape to enjoy it for many more years.
What a fantastic video and a great insight to the USA thanks for sharing your time 👍👍
It may be our favorite hike!
👍absolutely beautiful!
My camera and filming skills aren't the best - it was even better in person!
Awesome video MagDad. I will have to add that trail to the list. Hopefully for this fall.
Mrs Magdad and I hiked Ricketts Glen in the fall many years ago - it was beautiful!
Thank you for taking us alone Thank you for the video
You're welcome!
Wow I had no idea that there are so many waterfalls there 👍 All very beautiful too thanks for sharing it 👌
It is a beautiful park!
A beautiful day’s hike. Love the waterfalls.
We had a great time!
That was great Magdad! The falls were beautiful and I was amazed at how many there were. Thanks for sharing this.
We had a great time John! Thanks!
Thanks for taking us along! When I had in-laws, they have a bungalow in the White Mountains of NH. Lots of nature to see there, I especially love the Flume Gorge state park....
Mrs Magdad and I would like to travel up there some day!
Wow, just beautiful!
It was!
Ricketts Glen is only 40 minutes from me and I used to hike it twice a week to stay in shape. It's a great trail, but as you noted, can be a little treacherous. In the past it has been open to serious climbers throughout the winter, but make sure you register with the Ranger Station. All those wet steps become solid ice with crampons and other required gear a must. The trail is a thing of "frozen" beauty, but there has been at least one fatal fall and many more minor slips and trips. I avoid it on weekends to avoid the crowds unless you start out at dawn. I have seen people in flip-flops on the trail and others that look like they're prepared to scale Mt. Everest.
We when on a Friday. We had the place mostly to ourselves that morning.
Beautiful area with all the falls.
It is a beautiful spot!
Thats a beautiful trail Magdad, have you worked out the total drop from the top to the bottom falls, it must be quite substantial ? All the more impressive due to the recent rain I guess, it's awe inspiring the power of water and amazing quite how loud nature can be !
I like your walking sticks, I have a nice straight piece of of Hazel with a Y that I'm seasoning ready to be made Ito a "thumbstick" !
We have many beautiful waterfalls in the UK, but I don't know of anywhere with that number of falls in such a concentrated area !
Mrs Magdad's fitness watch said we experienced about a 900 foot elevation change.
Just beautiful! Looks like a good place to sprain an ankle without good boots! Where is the source for all that water and where does it go?
Hiking sticks are a must for this trail. Lake Jean feeds it and I think there are more falls just south of where we hiked.
You didn't shoot the rapids in kayak? I was amazed how algae free the stones are where you were hiking, with all the water spray I would expect them to be covered in algae and moss.
Mrs Magdad was worried about the rocks being slippery, but they weren't.
Wow beautiful! That looked like quite a long hike. Do know how many miles it was? Four hours is hard to say depending on how fit you are or hard/easy the terrane is.
I think it was about 4 miles. We stopped at each falls to film and we stopped for lunch. I would recommend allowing for at least 4 hours.
Looks awesome. Did Chuck get himself into trouble while you were gone?
Chuck stayed out of trouble and was happy to see us return.
Imagine your grandparents making that hike. It would have been uphill completely roundtrip. Do that hike in Pennsylvania or Oregon and you can add in the UFO experience.
It was a great hike. We were tired when we were done!
I haven’t seen that many falls since Biden boarded Air Force One. Seriously, beautiful park.
🤣
Should've brought your surfboard.
There was a lot of water for the end of August!
Looks like a good day. No desires to go skinny dipping?
We had the park mostly to ourselves in the morning so we might have been able to!
