    Thank you so much. Just what I have been looking for. Completely agree with you on the pros and cons but the solution gelato is giving to have a completely automated store without having to bother with constant personalization design is a big plus. Of course, it would be better if it would be integrated into Etsy and not geting the email from another source but maybe in the future, this will also be an option.

    Excellent video, thank you. Seen the pro's, and the CON's. Customers will be asking why they end up doing the work after paying for the product. As a customer myself, I would want to just get my order, and not doing anything else.

      I agree it's such a cool idea! I'd love to see them be able to integrate our shop branding and contact information into the email message and maybe some safeguards against the customer making huge mistakes with the personalization, but otherwise I think it's awesome to see platforms trying to automate more of the workflows for us.

    I really LOVE this possibility.
    I have a question : is there any way to have a peek on what the client did add to the design (potential spelling mistakes, placement,...) and put a halt in the order process if we detect anything weird. Then email them to warn them of the detected problem.
    I have another statistical question : we're a little over one year since you published this video, do you have an educated guess about the number/percentage of people who goof with their part of the personalization?
    Thanks !

    I use Gelato for Wall Art too. But it's a no for me. Customer has to leave the shop. And there is no live-preview for the customer to check if everything is like intended. There are better shopify options for this process. Just examples: Live Product Options by Cloudlift or Live Preview Options by Webyze - in same price range as G+. Thank you for the video!

    And as far as the email goes, it’s a simple fix. you can always inform them on the product page or placed into a product picture to inform them to add this email to their white list (or whatever it’s called) or to be sure to check spam/junk/clutter folders.

    • @PODinsights
      @PODinsights  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree it's simple to add information in your listing to set expectations about how the process works, of course the only catch is that not all customers read the information we provide so we'll always have some who get confused, but there's not much we can do about that!

    5:40 Should you check off "sample element" because then customer is forced to change the name? If they do not change the name then the displayed name will not be printed, which is what you want right? You do not want "Fluffy" printed if the cats name is something else. I will watch rest of video and test it.
    EDIT - Yes I think you need to check off that box "sample element" . If the customer "forgets" or does not want to personalize, then the name "FLUFFY" will not be printed at all and the space will be left blank. If the box is not checked then the name "FLUFFY" will be printed. Does that sound right? Just trying to help.

    This is such a cool feature! Thanks for showing it. Would it be possible to keep an eye on the customer's personalizations, and just jump in if you notice a typo or something--maybe send them a message, "I notice you left out the h in Whiskers, did you want to change it?" If the customer's work looked fine you wouldn't have to contact them. Does Gelato let the customer go back and edit their work after they submit it?

    I really like your videos, they very helpful and to the point. You're not selling anything just useful info. I don't know much about Gelato but am keen to know more after this video... specially when selling mugs. I think one con could be that not everybody is tech savvy and even though this is simple it might be a bit to much to do for some people which could lead them to not going through with the purchase and you will loose that sale. I will explore more though...it seems so time saving 😃

    Great video - You had me in the beginning but then I started thinking its it might be another can of worms with customer complaints. Good idea but too much responsibility for the average customer and I agree with all the cons you mentioned - and I can see customers making tons of mistakes and blaming the seller for it!! I do alot of personalized items and I can't tell you how many people don't follow my simple instructions - like enter your name in the box, lol!!

      @PODinsights  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You make a great point! I've also had customers not follow very simple instructions for items with personalization, and being able to catch it saved a headache. Maybe if enough sellers give feedback though they'll be able to figure out a more foolproof way to do it, at least I can hope!

    • @goldmanguyok66292

      @@PODinsights raising 7$ per month isn't such a big deal if it gives you more sales and more time (automation).
      even Gold membership 100$ per month worth it, because you get 30% then 50% of shipping, depends on profits. It might worth it.
      The big question, did it work for you ? did you get sales of custom orders ?

      @eurekaelephant2714 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @lbfaith

    In my opinion as far as personalization goes, the customer can potentially make a mistake as most of the time they don’t know what they’re doing when I let comes to placement. They can place the name up top or at the bottom and think it’s nice until they actually get the finished product.
    For customer based interface, I think it’s nice to be able to change it within that portal but at least give the owner the ability to limit what the customer is able to do so they don’t mess it up. For instance , maybe limit the font size, placement height and width to where it won’t go to far up or low or moved into the middle of the cup. And disable movement of the image (the cat) that is set already.
    Prevention is key when it comes to letting a customer have full access to changes that will have mistakes in the elderly or non tech communities.
    No offense to those people though.

    Hi! Great video! No idea if anyone is going to see this, since the upload was 10 months ago. But I am planning on opening an Etsy Shop with Gelato to sell posters. I don't want the costumer to be able to personalize the order, but I want to give the costumer two style options to choose from. For example: one poster with text and one poster without text. Would this be possible?

    • @PODinsights
      @PODinsights  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Yes, you can do this with gelato. You basically need to create the listing backwards of how you normally would - build it on Etsy first, and then sync each product in the listing to Gelato. I have a video showing how to do this with apparel. It would be the same for your poster listings - just make the product variants to reflect the poster design options instead of apparel sizes/colors. th-cam.com/video/VJ6bKUMRC2Y/w-d-xo.html

      You should use the location of your primary print provider and where you will primarily be selling. For example, if you plan to use Printify to sell in the US as your main market, use the United States as the country of origin. You can always change the country of origin in your shipping profile(s) later if you need to.

    well Gelato's depth of products is seriously lacking compared to the others and they don't have hats at all. And no embroidery option which again goes back to hats which is a great seller for personalization. For now printful and printify are a bit harder especially with etsy but can be done and works fine. Awkward styles too. Thanks for the heads up though. when they expand and get more to sell they will be worth the money.

    Imagine grandma buying a mug and trying to personalize it 🤣. I like the concept, but overall I think its a bad idea to let the customer edit the design. What they really need is a team working at Gelato (or Printify) who does the edits… and of course they can charge us for that.

    • @PODinsights
      @PODinsights  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL I know! That's what I'm concerned with too. I'd be great if they added a step where it sends the personalization to you so you can see it before it goes to production or something like that, or like you said just have them offer a service where they apply the edits for you. But going straight from the customer to production is risky!
