Deleting the app and reinstalling it did the trick. I had problems with messenger not accessing my photos and i deleted it and reinstalled it and logged back in and it worked thank you for the tips.

Later, I turned off my Screen time and it is still working. So, I assume that earlier even after allowing access to all photos on WhatsApp in all the settings before watching this video, the only thing I had to do was to delete and install the app again.

I'm worried because it doesn't let me change it. It only displays "Private access" and I can't change it.
