My goodness man those are some massive seed pods! Interesting as always brother, I do remember those pink ones. I really like them fried if cooked right, never got brave enough to eat em raw yet lol. Does the pup like raw veggies? Beasley goes nuts for em, she one goofy dog though. Have a wonderful weekend Paxton!!
Yeah, the eating them raw thing might be a little weird even by our standards. These guys get huge, I plan on showing yall the whole seed saving process so it'll be cool to see these monsters through I think. No my pup don't do many vegetable, a little cooked veg sometimes if it has a little bacon grease on it. That's why he's a little pudgy. Have a good one too, hopefully one of will be uploading a mushroom score in a couple days!
@@paxtianodirtfrog8947 Lol hey thats one smart dog, you cannot go wrong with anything bacon haha!!! Cant wait to see man, sux we dont have the space here cause I would be growing tons of stuff. Beasley would probly gobble it all though lol. I plan on walking around the woods saturday with a few beers, hopefully I can find more shrooms. I have about 10 videos on the backburner right now, good luck!!!
I love your okra videos. Thats because I can’t grow them myself. The plants have such a lovely flower too. I was surprised the big one was edible and not stringy. Thanks for the video. Best wishes.
Thanks! I had fun trialing this one but still like the Okinawa better. I have actually thought that I were to ever move north, say to Canada, that I could grow better greens, brassicas, and other cold crops but would have to give up the okra. It's probably my favorite and I'm sure I have said that before(I'm a broken record).
Hi there, of all the okra varieties you've tried, could you please let us know which are the most productive for family growing/eating? I've watched a couple of videos and it looks like Jambalaya, but I wasn't too sure. Thanks.
I would have thought that those big Burmese would be stringier than the big Okinawan. Probably like picking a big carrot and expecting it to be woody but it turns out to be sweet and crisp. I guess that also means that you’d want to be sure and stay on top of picking the Okinawan small if you’re growing them to sell. Those okra flowers are beautiful, makes you wonder why people aren’t cutting them to sell; probably because they want the okra for eating 🤔😄 Interesting info!
Yeah so that part I couldn't explain well but basically the Okinawa can be harvested at that size nearly but not that age. Okinawa is different because the pods don't really get huge but they'll reach their full size within a couple days. After that is gets woody fast. But to your point they need to harvested small to sell. I never thought about a cut flower for it but it is amazing looking. Not sure I could commit the deed. Glad you like it, thanks for watching me nerd out!
I hope you give it a shot this next season. I have never tried okra in containers and never witnessed it first hand. However my uncle said when he was living in Florida for a while that an old man had a it growing in 5 gallon buckets on his patio(like 2 plants per bucket) and said with a few buckets that the man was able to get enough to eat. So I think the half barrel might work well. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

How long does it take for your Burmese okra plants to develop the trunk with that thickness?

Hello, how about okra seeds from store bought okras ?
I don't think those would be mature, the pods will be well past edibility by the time the seeds reached maturity unlike tomatoes or pepppers.
I think I said this before, but I've never grown okra before. Since it's a deep rooted plant, would it do well in a deep pot (like half a barrel)?
