- How to add a virtual TAP card using an Android phone.
The TAP app is compatible with most Android phones with NFC (near-field communication) capability, running software version 11 and above. NFC must be enabled to use your virtual TAP card.
How does tapping work? Do I need to unlock my phone? Open the app?
Came here to see how to use it once I get in the bus but this video doesn’t have that info.
It’s easy. Once on the bus, tap the card on the tap logo it will give you a chime letting you know it subtracted the fare. If you need more help ask the operator they will help you

gotta have NFC turned on and be on the Tap Card page in the app. I just paid my fare on android, unfortunately NFC isnt mentioned anywhere. I hope this helps

@@PaolaTourGuideA setting. You can either swipe down and make sure NFC is on or search nfc in your settings to make sure it's on

Why can we add it to apple wallet but not google pay/wallet?
I had this same issue, " add a tap card to your phone " was not there. I went to my settings > apps > tap App > cleared data and cache > restarted app > and " add a tap card to your phone ", came back up.

I loaded the TapApp on my Samsung S23 but could not get it to pay out any fare on 4 buses. Today the driver told me to turn my phone to the back side & use it. Fare paid. Why isn't this explained in the video?? Also you have to turn on your NFC button. Also you can delete the App from your phone then put it back on. I did this twice & it finally worked today.
whats the difference between a pass and a virtual tap card on the app? i bought a pass, but it says its in queue whats that mean?

I just switched from apple to a google pixel. I downloaded a new card and every time i try to tap, i get an error. I also dont see it on my wallet

Lately I've had issues trying to tap it on the sensor on the bus. It would take me several tries before it'll accept it. It'll read error, try again, whatever and then go green after several attempts. It should be easy like a physical card but it's not.

@@edm3745 just don't touch it. Get close enough it'll actually read it. I stop having that issue.

It doesn't even work all of the time. I'm a huge supporter of modernizing our tech but the implementation of digital TAP is a huge bust. I had a fare and a modern phone but the digital TAP card is inconsistent. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't which is terrible. It works in other countries without any issues...maybe we just aren't smart enough
Useless. I went back to the plastic card.
Fr didn't work for me and the bus driver just kicked me off the bus
It still says pending...it's been 2 months!
When the fare is pending, just use ur phone to tap. When u tap, it will automatically add the funds. The scanner on the bus or the tap vending machines at metro stations need to scan your card to add the pending money. If u don't scan it, then it will continue to say pending.

@@Honorstudent24 Yes. Always open app, go to card, then tap the scanner with the back of your phone.
This is just horrible UX design. How do I know the phone is ready to pay for the fare? Take a cue from Clipper up in San Francisco and make it clear the phone is ready to tap.
Useless. $11 down the drain, $ stuck on the app and I can’t even use it.
