The DOG actually has a unique AI when you don’t have a ram dash equipped, there’s even a Dev Wish for beating him without a dash. Perhaps if you don’t have a dash or solar flare armor equipped you may stand a chance?
phosphorescent gauntlet is a weapon that makes you dash and you can beat dog with it without having a dash accessory, you can get it pre dog and it also gets you an infernum achievement

The hobbit hook might be a work around for the aegis due to its high pull strength and you can use the sea king bubble to help you breathe in the abyss

Great content. The main issue of the challenge and the whole premise reminded me a lot of Mr JFL's vid where he progression skipped DoG to AEW to get halibut cannon and still barely managed to kill DoG without any accessories. That was also in old calamity where shortswords still existed and coldheart icicle could remove %'s of boss health. Without cheese, no accessories, and the definition of insanity would probably make the DoG fight genuinely impossible. But mad respect for even attempting this.
I do honestly bet both fights are possible accessoryless without ridiculous cheese. Granted, I still have yet to try infernum so I lack the fight context. But I'm also pretty confident (despite my efforts because I gave up quickly because I was demoralized) mounts with ram mechanics do work. Additionally when looking at dash patterns for infernum DoG, you can pretty easily spot that most of the dashes start in a relative cardinal position to the player. With a good setup and (AKA good spawn RNG) enough speed you might be able to dodge a vertical dash and chain them with proper spacing to keep the dashes as vertical as possible. Bobbit hook is likely the best bet to avoid contact. For horizontal you could pair ram mounts+falling+solar armor dash for rams that don't look mountable. You might need to skew the dashes for that to work though too. It would all be tedious as hell and probably not super viable to attempt. But again I doubt it's entirely impossible. This also isn't considering weapon dashes like OLC, Phos gauntlet or exoblade. (exo obviously being post DoG but still an example) Quick edit: Found out from reading up on some other comments here apparently Infernum DoG has unique AI when you don't have a dash accessory and is a dev challenge to beat DoG without one. So yeah it's more than likely achievable just again tedious.
@MrJFL ngl i could probably keep going. There weren't any real solutions being thrown my way at the time, but with all the comments that have been spamming the exact. same. FUCKING THING, i could definitely try to give it another go at some point in time. Cant be that hard, i mean i got there once i could do it again right?
i remember being in this stream somewhere at the start (or maybe am hallucinating again but) it was fun. really shows how tame the chat can be when compared to psychotic challenges like these. (idk, it's always these kinds of terraria streams that do chat justice)
Even with optimal accessories, I still can't beat dog normally because I'm bad. I cheesed him with teleporters without having to use a ram dash. If they're far enough apart you can time it so that he's always dashing in between them but still close enough that you can hit him with something that has range to it. Put one on the left edge of the world towards the top and one on the surface level about how far away the dungeon would usually be. Put levers next to the teleporters close enough so that you don't have to move off the teleporter and just leave the mouse cursor about a quarter away from the left side of the screen. You should be able to just hold down left click and occasionally right click to (as long as you don't forget to turn on the smart cursor). The timing may take some practice since he gets really aggressive at the end, but you should be able to do it without accessories so this is still technically possible. Yharon probably not so much though.
May I ask why you didn't immediately go for the Old Lord Claymore? It's incredibly strong for how stupidly easy it is to use as a prehardmode ram dash in any direction
Well kinda. A few years ago i didn't feel like doing anything smart and never used anything except weapons and armor. No buffs, no accessories. Took me a while to realize that youtubers use all that stuff for a reason, and that them melting bosses and enemies came from using specific things
Not just sergeant united shield, but also that one sword from Ogre(from old one's army), special strategies to make dog go around you and the (summoner)plaguebringer armor without cooldown for dashes(but the dash is short)

I've seen videos where people defeat DoG with Phosphorescent Gauntlet and Sergeant United Shield parry, so maybe it is possible to beat DoG without accesories. Also a very cool vid, definitely a like!
I wonder if i should reveal that there is one simple potion that improves your mobility so much that you can go with sandstorm in a balloon and shoes up till plantera and not need any other movement acc It's the featherfall pot. It is literally budget wings.
Technically you can cheese DoG by making it circle you over and over and not require the Elysian aegis, but it would make you have to add that to the cheese counter.
Don’t wanna be that guy, but it’s entirely possible thanks to the captain America shield, as it has a party feature, so while it will be hard, it’s possible since you did it without accessories(minus dash yes, but still no accessories) and people have done it using the shield without dash, so maybe try that?
that's not humanly feasible without spending hundreds of hours on a single boss throwing your head at it until getting the right sequence of events to line up
I know it doesn't really matter as much in this playthrough but I hate quality of life mods. You just - move faster, have a dash and falling speedup (from calamity) for no reason - don't have to build houses - don't have to build arenas - don't have to farm for potions - don't have to fish - don't have to farm items since you can just craft them - don't have to organize a storage system (although this one I'll admit I like) - have an extra inventory slot because wings deserve that for some reason - don't have to fight bosses more than once because you can just buy treasure bags - don't have to get blocks because you can just buy them At this point one may as well just not interact with the game. A great QOL mod would be the "automatic moon lord beater" since it just skips the boring bits and saves tons of time!
