This is probably my favorite channel that's shown up in my shorts feed. My mans out here giving me a deeper apparition not just for rap but music in general.
Brother, every time I see your shorts I feel slight elation! Informative, eloquent, descriptive and all around flawless. This is what the net was made for- pure information.♥️♥️♥️♥️🔥🔥🔥
As a drummer there’s a rhythmic exercise with this flow called double beat. I’ve noticed all over rap because I like to use them for practice it flows so well🔥
He’s actually a kiwi from New Zealand. Somebody said that on another video and then I started listening to his accent and you can hear like New Zealander pronunciations here and there.
The robotic sound in the video might be from a misalignment in the sample rate from some of your audio gear. Anything that isnt the same (e.g 48kHz) might be the cause for it. I'm not an expert by any means but i had an issue like this for a while and it turned out one of my devices was not the same sample rate and it fixed everything being robotic.
I dont understand shit about flow, patterns, bars etc in words, but when you rap it out, i'm always like 'ahhh okey now i get it, thats dooope!' Smooth content man🤝🏼
Love your flows and you’ve been an inspiration to me as a rapper just hearing you talk technically about flows.. it’s unheard of! Could you mix your raps slightly louder over the beat?
On a 4 beat, your brain wants to hear the bar resolve on the last beat. Rapping in 3 over a 4 lets you dive right into the next bar without resolving the previous line, so overall it feels like the lyrics flow smoother since you're leading the listener into the next line instead of making it feel like every line could be from different songs
I was a percussionist in high school… it’s actually 5/4 time singnature… 5/4 is an irregular time signature that has five beats per measure, with each quarter note counting as one beat
No, it's not. Did you watch the video? Subdivided into 5 groups a dotted-eighth in length, plus one 16th note to round it out to 16 sixteenth-notes per measure. It's called a hemiola.
I mean he did use the flow before so he's not wrong. It does feel out of place to have the whitest sounding rapper's name next to two artists with no misses in their discography but the information itself isn't wrong by any means.
I'm not a huge rap fan (though I do know songs from Snoop and Eminem) but your explanations of the theory behind the making of the music is fascinating and it's a joy to learn from you. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to learn more.
I wouldnt consider eminem or snoop top 20 rappers if you consider rheir whole discographies there are a lot of great rappers you should try listening to, like denzel, jid, kendrick, etc
Aloha! This channel is incredible, I'm a huge fan. This was my favorite song by you so far! I liked it so much i could barely keep track of the rhythm and time scheme, which as a (traditional - I'm First Nations) drummer, is usually not an issue for me 😮 I'll be here all the way, brother! ✊🏽 Much love and mahalo from the Lakȟóta O'yaté (O'yaté = Nation) 🤙🏽
It really reminds me of what Danny Carey - Tool's drummer, plays on Pneuma with keeping the 4/4 beat on the kick, but playing some shenanigans with his hands that have an accent every 3rd 16th note (or at least that's what I think happens)

The Neil DeGrasse Tyson of rap flows. It's so inspiring to see this level of rigor given to the breaking down of rhythm types.
this really helps me understand the flows i already naturally fall into when freestyling, so when i see his i be like, "oohh so this what i be doing"
neil is a pretentious ass, this guy knows his stuff and uses that knowledge not to brag and be a dick, but to educate people on culture 👍🏻
neil degrasse tyson is obnoxious tho
@@1c0nic_player eh, it wasn’t meant as an insult though, and pretty sure old mate knows it.
