  • We've all seen the silly image enhancement Hollywood tropes. But is there a way to actually get really high resolution images? And most importantly without breaking the bank? Let's find out!

Interesting! I'm wondering what happens with the parallax from shooting from a single point instead of shifting the center. Does the software take care of that?
Also, are there any mainstream gimbals that can be used as a motion control device?

My guess is that there will be issues once you start moving the camera left and right instead of using a motion control system. But I haven't tried it so I might be wrong.
I think the DJI Ronin SC and S can be used as motion control systems but better double check reviews before purchasing!

I'm using telephoto lens on my iphone to do panoramas instead of shooting on a wide lens (e.g. for landscapes). It is fine with just holding phone with your hands and pointing it like shown on 1:40. If you're not moving around like crazy you will hardly face any significant glitches in the image. I even tried with full-body portraits and you get really awesome high resolution photos with this method (if you manage to get your model stand still and shoot the model first and then do the rest of the frame). I think Lightroom uses same algorithms as Photoshop, but since it is kinda more friendly than oldschool photoshop way, I tend to use only Lr.

Regarding 1:40. Sometimes I do shift phone a little bit around imaginary central point - poorly faking proper hardware equipment. But it's fine I guess. Never got any problems with images cause of that. I've done couple of lazy panoramas without it and hardly I can tell a difference, stitching is awesome.

@@unparticularnoise9021 we all know the "proper" way , is use dedicated gimbal heads that centers sensor on the nodal axis point, like the Clause etc, and for art reproduction, ideally along with the long lens, an x/y slider moving the camera in parallel to the subject to be at a complete 90 degree angle.
There are plenty of these high res projects on the web.
