Hi, I'm wondering if a Sorento PHEV can be preheated from the app on electric only or will it start the engine? Just wondering if it would be okay to preheat it in a closed unheated garage on a cold day? Thanks.
It would not be safe to start it in a closed garage. Even if it was the summer, when the vehicle is unlikely to start the engine, it could run the engine at anytime, so you need to open the garage door to start the vehicle, whether by remote start or otherwise.
I am very interested in hearing and seeing more about taking pictures via the app. I am waiting for my Santa Fe PHEV and this is a feature which would be great to have, but I have yet to see this mentioned anywhere. I'm stuck at the registration process. When you go to New User, it asks for the VIN, a user name and a registration code (recommended). Where do you get this registration code from?? It is not explained anywhere and nothing shows when I Google it. What am I missing??
You may have to connect with your dealer, or the Kia or Hyundai head office help line to get that sorted out. I'm not sure what to tell you, other than that.
Thanks for this Peter. I have both a Kia and Hyundai and have the same issue with both apps. How do you connect the user profile in the app with the one in the car or vise versa? The car head unit directs you to the app to setup a profile, and the app says to create the profile in the car. Both are already created. Everything works so it's not a big deal, but would like to customize my profile pic and just have it all connected correctly and in sync.

I try sending the invite to her email, but the app flags that she doesn't have an account yet. Then to create an account she needs a car, but the car has been linked to my profile and doesn't let her use the same VIN...
I think the reason for the slow response is that it's making a cellular call to the car to exchange information. I *really* wish I could remote start the vehicle with the key fob. I understand the limitation, but the delay makes this almost unusable.
Many of the latest vehicles have the remote start on the keyfob. There was talk of being able to upgrade some of the previous vehicles to a remote fob, but I'm not sure if that came to be.
There are several different versions of this across the world, and they even vary per car within a single country. Lots of differences that make this a tough video to film and apply to everyone.
Yeah, speed is the issue. If it had better response time, it would be a fantastic system. As of now, it's still useful, but there's still room for improvement in some areas.
Nice that even Hyundai employees think it is weird that we cannot turn our heated seats on when we remote start. My heated steering wheel can be turned on remotely but it heats up in literally 8 seconds so I don't really need it. Heated seats though, they take like 2 minutes before I start feeling the heat.
I've always been free to say it like I see it. I'm honest with our audience because that's what I would expect from someone if I was the customer. It's weird! Maybe they have a reason for doing it, I don't know. To be fair to them though, most newer vehicles now have the ability to heat the wheel and the front seats from the app. Thanks for watching!
I agree... but you do have a lot of options to customize things on the app. The newest models have remote start on the key fob. The key fob is a great way to start it instantly, and the app is better for more customization.

Thanks for your videos. It would be a lot more interesting if you would use a real microphone. The sound is awfull. Did you know that with your computer you can share the screen, instead of presenting the image like you do.
I find the BlueLink system to be terrible. A really buggy smartphone app and very, very slow. Worse than useless customer service as well. Sometimes takes over 3 mins to execute a remote start from the app, and that's in good cell phone signal range. Really spoils the overall experience of owning a Hyundai. Hyundai/Kia have done a great job with their vehicles, it's time they spend some development time on this system as it lags a long way behind other manufacturers offerings.

If you're talking about giving her access to the app, I would just get her to use your email and password on her app, and that will give her access.
Awesome Review.
Wish my kia connect looked like that. Sadly not for some reason
There are several different versions of this across the world, and they even vary per car within a single country. Lots of differences that make this a tough video to film and apply to everyone.
You can change the screen timeout to 40 minutes or an hour
If the functions weren’t painfully slow, I would use it a bit more. Also, if the “Start Charge” function would work, that would be awesome.
Yeah, speed is the issue. If it had better response time, it would be a fantastic system. As of now, it's still useful, but there's still room for improvement in some areas.
@@BrantfordKia to be fair, I don’t think any auto manufacturers app gets top praise. 2 ⭐️‘s seams to be the average.
@@JordieG8 Haha! True!
Nice
Most of the time its faster to walk out to the car and start it than remote starting it !! Frustrating to say the least. But thank you for the video.
I agree... but you do have a lot of options to customize things on the app. The newest models have remote start on the key fob. The key fob is a great way to start it instantly, and the app is better for more customization.
@@BrantfordKia I have a 2020 sonata ultimate so I use key fob to start the car but the app turns on heater , heated seats and steering wheel heater but so slow . Hopefully Hyundai will rectify this issue but not holding my breath !! Thank you for your videos , I really enjoy them .
@@mikeclement7020 I don't thing the speed is going to change, I have a feeling that a lot of it is limited by the speed of the wireless data connection in the car. I could be wrong though. But yeah I agree. The App is good, but the connection speed is very slow.
Thanks for your videos.
It would be a lot more interesting if you would use a real microphone.
The sound is awfull.
Did you know that with your computer you can share the screen, instead of presenting the image like you do.
Hi
I find the BlueLink system to be terrible. A really buggy smartphone app and very, very slow. Worse than useless customer service as well. Sometimes takes over 3 mins to execute a remote start from the app, and that's in good cell phone signal range. Really spoils the overall experience of owning a Hyundai. Hyundai/Kia have done a great job with their vehicles, it's time they spend some development time on this system as it lags a long way behind other manufacturers offerings.
But I'm still going to get a "like" on this video for attempting to demonstrate it, right? 🙂👍
@@BrantfordKia You sure can! I’ll give you a hundred likes if you can convince Hyundai/Kia to go back to the drawing board and create a decent system!
In the UK this app is all but pointless for an ICE vehicle as the ONLY thing you can do is lock/unlock your car.
Stay away from Kia and Hyundai!!! There is a class action lawsuit going on that I’ve been apart of for a few years. Both companies and their vehicles are very sketchy!! Fuck both companies.
I appreciate your videos, including this one, but Bluelink is godawful in virtually every respect. In 2 1/2 years it hasn't improved even a little bit. I can't believe that in 4 months they're going to have the nerve to ask me to pay for it.
It has improved, but not necessarily for your car. My car has features that weren't available just last year. Having said that, yes, I agree, it will be interesting to see how many of us will decide to pay for this service in the future. I'll publicly announce if I think it's worth it for me when they finally let us know what packages are available and how much they'll charge us.
It will cost you $200 per year for this app NO THANKS
