I disagree. I think they are good, when taken on their own, and not compared and contrasted to the originals. AoTC in particular does a better job at world building than probably any other star wars movie

@@pibblesxtra1320 yea, i had some real issues with that movie, but mostly because of expectations i had, about luke from the OT, and plot points from TFA. But i think, if taken in on its own, without how it relates to the franchise as a whole, its a well made and well acted film. And had some great cinamatography. I didnt love it as a Star Wars fan, but I think just as a film it was at least above average
The Back to the future movies are one of those movies that you can watch any time and any place and never get bored of them.

I've watched this franchise more than 20 times now. When I got married I showed this to my wife and we've been watching it almost every year for 4 years now. Although she hasn't seen Part 3 yet because we always rewatch 1 & 2, I'm sure she's gonna love it nevertheless. Funny thing is we just finished rewatching Part 1 yesterday, we're gonna rewatch Part 2 later today and finally we're gonna watch Part 3 this weekend.

Back to the future also is a trilogy that literally is seamless between parts 1,2,and 3. It runs like a whole 6 hour movie.
I don't think 2 and 3 m=easure up to the first one. They are very fun adventure movies, but the first one is a masterpiece.

Probably only because it’s part of the Batman franchise, which includes Batman and Robin, despite them being different Continuities

Back to the future makes me smile, it was such a happy time for me, I was 10 years old, living in a great town and my sweet grandmother was alive. I love those movies.

I agree. Back to the future part 2 had the highest stakes and a greater sense of consequence, biff became a truly threatening and personal antagonist, the 2015 scenes were quirky and funny, and the cliffhanger was one of the best i've seen

Dark Knight Rises wasn't really that well received. Personally I think it's fine, it has some plot holes but as a whole I think it's a good movie, although definitely the worst of the series. But that's probably why it's not on here.

The LOTR trilogy is pretty much perfection moviemaking. You basically cannot find anything wrong with any of the films, something you cannot say for a few of the titles on this list.

Yeah, it's my favourite franchise (after Lord of the Rings and the MCU, of course). I don't know if they need to do a 5th movie (especially without Richard Donner) because the conclusion of the 4th was perfect. "You're friends ? No, we're family !"

How do you not include the Dollars Trilogy, every movie got better, and “The Good The Bad and The Ugly” is the pinnacle western and one of the greatest films of all time. Also The Godfather based off the first 2 alone should be on the list. Part 3 wasn’t a bad movie, it just wasn’t iconic and unfortunately came out in the same year as another iconic gangster film in Goodfellas

The MCU did have a Hulk movie and it was bad enough that Marvel is trying to pretend it didn't happen. Nick Fury even tries to recruit Hulk at the end. Hulk movies don't do well so the MCU is not without a bad movie, and only 1 bad one out of more then 20 is pretty good.
I really liked the Hulk movie with Edward Norton but that one from 2003 with Eric Bana was horrible lol also it’s not only Hulk Iron man has had terrible movies don’t forget how awful Iron man 3 was

My dad isn't really a movie guy
he is half interested in the MCU, only really watched war movies, and most times forgets the content of them later.
He found the Ip Man series on a streaming service and watched all of them, on his own, and he really enjoyed them.
He isn't really into martial art movies, the only ones he seemed half interested in were the Rush hour series.
So I think that really speaks to how good the films are.
Finally HTTYD gets the respect it deserves!!!!

According to Sergio Leone, Once Upon A Time in The West was supposed to be part of the Dollars trilogy, but making a quartet felt wrong. So he made it a lil bit different than the three. Plus, no Clint Eastwood.

Indeed. My favourites were Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, which I like to think as two parts of one movie, as they're the two that follow Davy Jones' story arc. The fourth and fifth entrants were definitely still good movies too!

We'll see in October, but both Ghostbusters (completed by Afterlife) and Dune (which will be two movies, with followup material available in Messiah and Children) have the potential to make a list like this.
The lord of the rings: the two towers, as a kid the ending where the tree people attack isengard was the best, I would skip the whole movie just to see that part.

Not agree to me two Towers is a cinema lesson about how do a legible battle. There are fewer "superhuman" forces in the two towers, which makes the battle more human-sized. There is a better understanding of advantages/disadvantages, the tactics and the strategy.
The battle may be less grandiose but I think in terms of battle cinema it is better controlled.
The battle of Minas Tirith is epic and Ride of Rohirrim might be the most unforgetable charge in movie history. All three movies are perfection

I have to agree, Back2theFutr is wonderful, but the Cornetto trilogy holds my heart as well! I love Simon Pegg for his comedic style and cheeky good looks!
I’ve watched all the Mad Max movies at least a hundred times. When Fury Road came out, my first thought was “oh what a lovely day! What a lovely day!”

Beyond Thunderdome was really substandard compared to The Road Warrior and Mad Max. It was not a bad movie per se, IMO. Just not as good.

the 2nd movie is fine to me. It’s not exactly good but it’s not very bad either. The 3rd movie is also meh to me but people like that a lot. Idk man I really didn’t like JJ Abrams’s directing at all, Philip Seymour Hoffman made it watchable.

@@thomasconradjr7643 Yeah it’s a tie between 2nd and the 3rd for me, neither are that bad but they both have a lot of stupid things about them. The 3rd has a lot of problems that no one talks about because Philip Seymour Hoffman is all they talk about when it comes to the 3rd, it has the exact same problems that JJ Abrams’s other works have (Lens flares, shaky camera work, bland visual style) im just not a fan of JJ and his style and work thus making me not like Mission Impossible 3 that much. The 2nd movie isn’t really that good either but I can appreciate John Woo for having a more unique and creative directing style than Abrams has.
The second one is comedically bad with how poorly it aged (I liked it when I originally saw it). Outside of that, I think the franchise has been pretty great.
@@Suisai13 The 3rd one isn’t great idk why everyone likes it, it’s Not even close to Philip Seymour Hoffman’s best performance (only seen him in Moneyball but that was far better) He just played an angry villain that was angry for no reason, Can’t blame Philip for his character, That is all on JJ Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci’s fault for writing the character poorly.

Here's an idea for an LOTR sequel. In the books, Faramir confides to Frodo and Sam his concern that the culture and values of Gondor have declined and become more militaristic as a result of having to be on a constant war footing against Mordor. Near the end of The Return of the King film, Aragorn speaks about "rebuilding the world in peace". I think there is an interesting story to be created about the struggles that Aragorn and Faramir might have had to orient the reconstruction of the kingdom towards renewal of the civilisation in the face of others who had become so used to Gondor being a war-focused society that they were unable to imagine an alternative, even after the threat of Morder had been removed.
I swear to god if someone tries to make a reboot of the Lord Of The Rings they better not ruin the masterpiece trilogy.

As the fan of Dark Knight trilogy, I lamented that fact but we have to accept it
DKR - while loved by some is definitely not by others. Pacing issues, length, questionable choices (60K cops all in the sewer? almost no actual Batman?)
If I understood the guidelines I think they would include the Burton/Schumacher films too since they are about the same character. Same reason they didnt include the James Bond series but focus say on the Sean Connery films which many consider the best along with the recent Daniel Craig run. Even though the Hobbit movies are part of the LotR series (and comparatively not as strong and well received) WM didnt include them when ranking LotR #1, just conveniently glossed over them.
By that same measure then The OG Star Wars trilogy needed to be included in the list as well.
Or they were going to lump them just like the lumped every MCU movie into one. So the Nolan trilogy would connect with the Snyder DC-verse.

Yeah, Rocky V is bad but only compared to the others. Otherwise it’s pretty good. It’s like Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Part 1. It’s bad when compared to the others, but it’s still good.

Its a given that LOTR should be first. The greatest trilogy of all time. The story, the characters, epic battle sequences, memorable moments and a fantastic ending. Nothing is perfect but this trilogy is close
