This is the best i30 review in english I've seen on TH-cam. I was some doing research as I was looking to get an open face and saw that HJC just released this helmet not long ago. Seeing there is not much reviews on it, i went to the shop to test it out. It looked real nice in when i saw it. Low profile and quality is pretty good. A bit on the heavy side however can't expect carbon fiber for that price. One thing i noticed was i had to go 1 size up than my usual size. Wind noise is bearable as i ride a maxi with a tall wind shield. The internal visor is good enough during a sunny day. The top air flow holes do work but only when you hit certain speeds. Unfortunately i tried using a dark visor but was unable to see clearly at night (maybe i have bad eye sight). I'd prefer a double d ring for safety but that clip is more convenient. Paddings are comfortable and removable. Overall a pretty good helmet for the price. I know there might be better options for the price but HJC is indeed a reputable helmet brand. Anyway good review bro, keep it up👍

For sizing it's always depending on the rider head shape sometimes need to up-size, but when test must pull down the visor into lock position to feel the fit since the visor squeezes the cheeks a bit when closed. How's the fogging, need to crack open the visor slightly? Personally I would invest in the Pinlock anti-fog insert so I won't need to contra water seeping from the brow gasket against the need for clearing away visor fog..
@@thesighbored you're right about pulling down the visor. It does squeeze the cheeks slightly. In terms of fogging I've only used the helmet for 2 weeks. Through rain and shine, night and day so far no fogging yet. Fogging happens when the external and internal temperature is different. In this case since this is an open face with a wide opening at the chin, i think it'd be less of a problem compared to a full face. However need to test it out more to find out. If it starts to fog, I'd definitely seek out a pinlock. Ride safe bro!
@@MrAsspss I rode in the night with rain fall, the fog was real even when not static in traffic, had to lift the visor up slightly just so that the wind can flow upwards from the back of the visor through the top brow gap I created by lifting the visor up slightly, hence removing the fog build-up. The cons of me doing that is some rain water will flow down from the inside of the visor, but I rather have no fog over water on the visor. :) Ride safe & safe ride!

One of the reasons I'm not wearing my full face was because I want to wear a mask while riding. And i think that is why my breath is not directed to the visor and hence no fogging for me. I'm not too sure though 😅
Yes that's highly possible as your breath is slowed from directly contacting the visor surface.. I wore balaclava but it's just a thin cloth unlike a proper face mask.. Good point..
It's a polycarbonate outer shell. The i30 is a very good upgrade from the old IS-33 II. I'm a size large and this helmet fits true-to-size. The liner and cheek pads feel snug at first especially after having used nothing but Shoeis for the past few years but once broken in, the i30 is very comfortable. I feel very secure and safe when I'm using my i30. The internal drop-down sun visor is a light smoke which I like. It could go down a little bit more but it's okay. The top vents work well although I feel the vents on my old IS-33 II flowed a bit more air. The face shield seems to be thinner than the one on the IS-33 II but I love the detents on this one more. Aesthetically, this is an improvement over the old IS. That one was quite a bit taller. This one is just right. I also have an AGV Orbyt and the i30 is way better than that lid.
I was looking at them today, compared to the Shoei J Cruise at $700 the i30 at $250 is a bargain. I was shocked how good it felt. I ordered one. Thanks 🙏
Just bought one. Horrible wind noise that seems to come from both lower front bottoms. This is the louder jet helmet I've ever wear in 25 years. It's unbelievable.

Hey Sighboard, Yes ! Your right , can be risky in UK , you have to be careful when riding , especially at night and avoid certain areas. I just got back from Malaysia in August, every time I visit , I'm so proud of Malaysian car drivers , how they respect and are very observant of the motorcycle riders. This makes riding much safer there. Unfortunately here in UK, alot of car driver don't care to make proper observations or consider Moto riders, and Moto riders here are constantly on alert with ignorant careless drivers. Goes to show they're only called advanced country but their people minds are not.. I think even in US it's like that.. So many clips of drivers crashing into bikes because "I didn't see that motorcycle" while busy on Tiktok or something.. Great open face helmet,great big visor to the bottom chin, sunglasses visor deep, the noise is not too loud, im suprised, on action 125eur...at high speeds stable.Great job HJC- best buy.
This is Malaysia, for open face there are a lot of choices and most will get the cheaper/lower end models compared to branded ones. So they consider the price is a bit expensive although they know it's more branded or quality.
Is it possible to take off only the cheek pads? Can you try to put it on with sunglasses, to see if they need to be taken off? Normally with the retro open face helmets you can just push them to the side a bit and not worry about that.
If you remove the cheek pads then you can't wear the helmet properly.. But I believe the pads are not that solid that it does not allow any spectacle to squeeze past them, maybe in future I will include glasses testing for helmet review.
Jeez, I see the adjustable buckle on your helmet. I see one in the manual that I lookup online, but I bought mine last year and it doesn't have it. What's up with that?
If my head size 59cm. Then should i go for 60cm size? Not sure if size chart for hjc would be the same like other size chart like shoei, arai, agv so on.
My head measurement was M and the M fit me pretty good.. But still sometimes head shape may affect overall fit, if you can, go try it out at the nearest dealer so you can know if it fits good for you..

Wouldn't wear any other helmet if it's not a modular now. It's just so convenient for daily rider & occasional long distance east coast west coast trip back home to KL for me.
I have i30 and i do wear glasses. Unfortunately, you need to take out your glasses when wearing in/off the helmet. Though it is supported for glasses, and have glass grooves, the inner fabric is quite thick and you tend to accidentally drop your glasses, or, due to your head size/earlobes/etc, the fabric tends to push your ear and maybe your glasses earframe. Best is to test it out, and get 1size bigger if you are at the limit of the helmet sizing. It takes time for the helmet to conform to your head shape

e-bikes like electric scooters? For sure, it's safer than bicycle helmets although it may be heavier than those kind of helmet..
I can never bring myself to wear an open face on a fast big bike, mainly for safety reason, no matter how good the helmet is lol
I feel the same but some want the convenience of the open face so they still go with that type of helmet.

I have a modular, not a huge fan of modular in general.. Can be quite heavy and I don't usually have a need to just flip the front open..
