One of the best songs Cooley’s ever written. Forget what they say about the life stories of people like Alexander Hamilton, Fredrick Douglass, Jackie Robinson, Barry Goldwater, Rosa Parks, Cesar Chavez, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, John McCain or Barack Obama. There is no more “American” story than that of Harlon Bronson Carter… and that’s damn unfortunate.
I saw them open for slobberbone in Louisville Kentucky in about 2,000

Goddamn, I love this band so fuckin' much. The just resonate on a level that, for me, is only matched by The Band.
American version of the Clash, was the first thing that sprang to mind, and that is no mean compliment in my book! I first heard of these guys today, and am lapping up everything I can get from TH-cam. This album has everything - intelligent and incisive lyrics, a political slant that fits with the times (and my own opinions), and superb musicianship. What more could you ask for? I shall definitely be buying this album.

Can somone help please? Now listened to every dbt album, and cannot find a single dud track. Not one in 14 lps. Just killer from gangstabilly to the new ok. Cant think of any band with that record.
Some great music on this album, but in my opinion they had to be more direct and less humourous or ironic (?) than in their past incredible works, it seems people weren’t listening. Either way the music resonates up here in Winnipeg, Canada (500 miles north of Minneapolis/St. Paul). I ve been all over the states in the past, but y’all scare me now.
