I just realised the huge irony of Horatio. He spend the trailer talking about "seeing beyond the mirror", and seeing beauty in difformity, basically, spiritual/metaphysic beauty, the brain, the spirit. Yet, his clones are clearly talking about physical beauty (one of them had a scar and was shamed for it all his life). He cloned himself to teach humanity not to judge on appearance, for his clone to fall into the same pit. It also coincide with the fact Horatio Prime has been imprisonned, and now, the leader of the Horatio is a clone.
That clone was closer to Horatio Prime than most of his batch, poor Farella EM8 Mario 22 Farella -EM8 Mario 22 is the survivor of a brief rebellion of poorly batched clones that tore through his childhood center, leaving his friends and teachers dead and Farella's young face hideously scarred. As growing up with a marred countenance in Horatio society seriously damaged Farella's academic and professional prospects, he searched for decades before discovering risky Endless grafting sciences in an abandoned medical station that permitted him to reproduce his face perfectly. Though on the surface he now appears healed and happy, .....the trauma of rejection, contempt and isolation has certainly left its invisible scars.

I mean, Amplitude knocked it out if the park with this "race". They made a race that on the surface looks hilarious. But then you look at the logic behind it and it is both tragic and grandiose. The dude here was shunned and rejected, so he struggled and worked hard, and through a combination of talent, wit, insanity and luck, he managed not only to become rich and powerful beyond anyone else. He went beyond and CREATED, with his own hands, his own race, his own people, his own world. What can a man do more to prove everyone wrong? What can a man accomplish more than that?
And yet in all that incredible accomplishment, he created exactly what he hated most. He created a society that values physical perfection over all else. He set out to destroy the standards he fell short of, and instead created a different standard for others to fall short of. Gosh I love this race, it's so good.

It's easy to make fun of a character like this because, "Wow, narcissism," but think about the raw ambition and intellect that it takes just to do a fraction of what Horatio did. One would be hard-pressed to argue that he wasn't a superior form of life.
For just a moment, just this moment, as I looked up at the planet from the window pane of my starship, overlooking the lush yellow and green terran planet, I saw a blinding light, twinkling all over the surface, so bright that the crew around me came to a halt, their busy lives interrupted by this one beautiful sight. And we felt peace. ...Then we found out the source was just the planet's Horatios lifting their sunglasses to the sky and we promptly left the system soon after.
the 4th minute is so insanely epic. The idea of a spurned individual, casting aside logic and reason in his quest to become accepted by society, finally finds it in his own, deranged way, is a fantastic story element, and this theme goes alongside that journey beautifully.

Though from the trailer it seems Horatio was bullied about his big head as a child so this may have all just been a "I'll show them all!".
It's probably the latter, yes, although Horatio does have a large brain. As for belief, all Horatio believe that they are the brightest and most gorgeous race, and base their hierarchy on this aspect. And regardless of the appearance, every Horatio uses the masculine specification in third person.
I can't argue with any of the facts presented here, though I really hope the We, the Horatio remains a force to be reckon with, forever. No one should be bullied, yeah sure... spreading your likeness to the universe is way too grandiose and insane. But he was called insane before and he overcame all his peers, because who else would create a star empire, from nothing using only his willpower? the money and massive intellect helped too. Though, he's truly perfect.
