    Hi Kevin,
I've been retired now just One year and started ship modeling along with stick and tissue airplanes and some plastic. I appreciate and have gained much knowledge watching your videos so thank you for producing them!
Recently I've acquired some proxxon, table saw, micro mill, chop saw and rotary tools a sherline lathe with accessories and a fordeham flex shaft on a Dayton 1/4 up motor - no manuals for anything.

Looks like you are putting together a wonderful shop. My only advice is to buy the best tool your pocket can afford. You will never regret it. My shop is littered with cheap tools purchased in the early days, some because that was all I could afford at the time, but others because i did not do the home work.

You’ve really got the model shop well equipped now! It’s a good feeling to know you’ve got quality equipment to perform what ever tasks come up in model building! Thanks for making these videos!

My favorite tool is a computer with a CAD program, and a laser cutter. Then with a bit of research you can build almost anything.

Excellent review -- I've been looking for a pendant for some time. Can you also recommend a jig saw (with metal table) ?

I have an old Dremel thats 20 years old that still works. If you are looking for best in class i would direct you to Proxxon. They are # 2 on my list of quality tools

      Hi Steve
My approach after Building my first model was/is to go on a journey that develops my ability to build better and better models. So for me its not about building any particular model but about seeing my skills improve over time. I am up to 13 models to date and now only choose models that relate to the history of my home Trinidad & Tobago. I now mainly scratch build using some excellent books and plans developed by some of our past mater builders. My next two models after the Thorn are the HMS Ulysses following plans developed by Harold Hhan and the HMS alfred from Reverend Romero’s 6 books and plans. I so enjoy the research also. I have three ships in various stages of research which when completed will enter my dock yard as part of the build program. So that would be my advice. Develop some sort of plan and then pick projects that improve your skill level. The last piece of advice is don’t be afraid of the complexity of the kit you pick. If it becomes too difficult, you simply put it aside until you develop the skill that allows you to complete it. That what happened to me with the Thorn and why it has taken me 8 years to finish the build.
