A Christmas story is my favourite movie of all time
Peter Billingsley being able to cry when needed for the performance is a little trick known as affective memory, which is a method acting approach. The idea is that you shouldn't act out the emotion, but that you have to feel it and let those feelings show through in your performance. Recalling and going through memories that can bring about the emotion is how you do it.
I have the dvd box set I got for Christmas 2015 this classic movie will live on forever

Anyone remember that dirt bike movie he was in called The Dirt bike kid from '85?. He was also in a horror movie called Death valley in '82!.. I can remember watching all those movies when I was maybe 5yrs old and just remembered those two while typing this out lol. He's definitely a good actor that has been in plenty of tv shows and movies.

He was so matter of fact and the interviewer didn't think it was a big deal he got his mouth washed out with soap in real life. Back then pretty much everyone hit their kids and did punishments like soap in the mouth. I had it done once and it was horrible and didn't teach me anything. Today there would be outrage and his family would get a bunch of hate for him admitting that.
He really wanted a bb gun in real life 🤣
That lady doesn't get it that Ralphie is WAY smarter than she is.

I have so much respect for this person. I do remember hanging out with him when I was very young. His slightly older brother was great as well. I had no idea about his IQ; regardless his parents were awesome people. He is far from a washed up lounge singer. I do a agree with one of the prior comments that the interviewer seems rather arrogant, which is slightly disappointing but in this case he clearly brushes everything off with charm and humility. Great work Peter!!!

I see her being decent enough. I just think she's a bit awkward with a kid.
It was more common back then from older adults likely because their own parents talked stern with them when they were growing up. It never bothered me.
