This is fantastic! I don't think I've ever seen this game played on LAN before. I would love if the next Mario Kart allowed you to play with the team mechanic from Double Dash! It was really fun!

I would even settle for a port of the game to Switch with online play added. but I am not holding my breath for that. However the community is stepping up. from the circles I am in new tracks are being made as well as a true online play patch so that way the lan mode works online nativly.

Yeah, unfortunately, I think potentially the only way we'll get Double Dash on Switch is if Nintendo finally does add GameCube games to their Online service. Glad to hear there is an active Double Dash modding community. I only hear about Super, DS, 7, Wii, 8 and Deluxe mods and hacks so I'm glad Double Dash is getting some love. It still is one of my favorites and one of the most unique Mario Kart games. I also miss having character-specific items, but I could see how that might not work online. Some character specials are just plain better than others.

I dont have time to make a video guide. but it is actually easy to do. this is how you get 2 dolphins on 2 computers in a lan. 1: download and make an account for xlink kai. make sure it is running in the background. (only do it on one of the two computers) 2: in each Dolphins settings go to the Gamecube tab and set the SP1 option to "broadband adapter (XLink Kai) 3: (only on the dolphin on the computer not running xlink) Click the box with the 3 dots next to the SP1 option. set the field to the ipv4 address of the computer that is running Xlink Kai. (google how to find your IPV4 if you don't know how) 4:if not done already. make sure both PC's are connected to the same router. 5:it should work at this point. start lan mode on both computers. That happened when I tried putting him on a lightweight kart. Maybe that is why.
But really, I hope new codes are released so they only affect your character.
