@@novanova78_34 honestly all these company vs company comparisons are getting tiring what happened to just liking something and leaving it. Or liking both equally.
Hi there, Lars from Camille's Harem. First off, 1. Thank you for a great video looking into how Warner-Discovery has treated their animated properties and animation studios. You're right that it doesn't get enough attention and this is a good eye-opener for many into what's been happening while everyone else focuses on Disney. 2. Hearing myself sped up to the point of being a mouse was hilarious! If you don't mind, I'll share with you my rational behind the video I made on Glitch vs Disney. Part of the inspiration stems from the fact that Disney is the trend-setter in Hollywood. Though every company does what they want for their own benefit and profit, Disney is the one with the largest lines of credit, the greatest amount of resources, and its international parks and acquisitions allow it bully other studios, contest and change laws, afford the best talent, and flood the market. Where that power once made them the awe and envy of animators around the world, it's clear that they are stumbling. The House of Mouse is not only beginning to hemorrhage money but talent as well. Disney's decision to back away from 2D animation, followed by their banking on the MCU, and then squeezing their television and animation departments back in 2015-2016 foreshadowed Hollywood's overall decline in and attitude towards animation. Although, at the time, I doubt many saw the trends for what they were. Another part of the initial inspiration did come from the clickbait video I did on how the Amazing Digital Circus was beating Wish at the time. In terms of cultural impact, fan favor, and earnings, an indie cartoon was beating the House of Mouse! Tragic and funny at the same time. However, that gave way to the final spark on inspiration behind the video: Finally, I had been trying to get larger TH-camrs to realize this growing phenomena. Though indie creators have had a powerful and inspiring presence on platforms like TH-cam, groups like Glitch Productions and SpindleHorse Toons broke through a ceiling into the mainstream as well as cracking the code. As I brought up in the video, Hollywood has considered the teenager and young adult demographics to be black holes for a while. And then indie animators and storytellers not only captured that supposedly impossible demographic but they also made their work bankable and self-sustaining on popularity, views, and sales. I had hoped that other entertainment commentators and financial analysists would double-back and take a look because we are seeing a new stage in storytelling. Animation in particular is about to enter a new "Wild West" stage here really soon. And if people didn't think that big studios weren't in competition with indie creators before, that's going to start changing real soon. Unfortunately, no one was willing to listen and I kept getting brushed off. So, I decided to replicate their approach and do a video of my own. Now, if you have this read far, thank you! But also, your edited clips of my video along with several others implicated a flaw to our approach and it's been something that has grated on me ever since working on the video: MONEY. Hollywood exists to sell itself. Companies can only exist so long as they make money and can continue their production. This is nothing new and was even a focus of my thesis on Hollywood crafting the American Myth over a decade ago. The problem is that money alone doesn't represent how much people love something. Loads of people hate current Disney and don't spend their money on it, but they preserve all their DVDs and VHS tapes to share the Disney stories that they love. Loads of people love TADC, Murder Drones, Helluva Boss, Hazbin Hotel, and even creators like Olan Rogers and Tracy Butler just to name a very few. And yet, they're not rolling in millions and millions of dollars. Social media is also not the best indicator either, because you can track trending hashtags and find posts flagged as new that are dated to months ago! Word of mouth is powerful, but insanely hard to quantify. So, how do you track what people love? The easiest thing is to track the money. But clearly, that isn't the golden indicator of popularity and good will. Throw in stuff like repeated views, family/group watches, fan art, music videos, fan animations, conversations at school or in the office, randomly meeting a stranger who gushes over your Murder Drones t-shirt because the art is incredible although they have never heard of the show before. Yet one thing is clear to me: indie animation is experiencing a shift. I don't know if we can call it a renaissance or revolution or something else. Just like with Disney's questionable choices and practices back in 2015-2016, we won't know for certain until after the fact. But the large studios are suffering from loss of profits, bleeding talent, foreign competition, and continually degrading sense of how to be creative and write good stories. Good shows and movies do crop up, but now they're contending with a growing field of independent creators who are on the rise and getting ever more creative and bold. If you're ever interested in striking up a further conversation on the topic, you can always reach out. Great job on the video and good luck with all your future projects!
I like that this wasn't really an argument about if their criticisms were wrong but rather about selective attention. Speaking of, love that you acknowledged AVA, eddsworld, asdfmovie and etc as worthy indie animation too. Tbf, anything animated and continuing is basically indie animation. Its just independent animation lol. TADC and Lackadaisy and hazbin only get focused more cos they look like serialised tv shows from the 2000s or early 2010s. But cartoons dont need to look like CN or Disney Channel to be cartoons, else what'll be the point of saying they beaten Disney or other companies (Again, Alan Becker literally is doing high quality vids with stickfigures, way before the "I have Michael as a VA" indie cartoons)

9:18 thank you for mentioning Wander over yonder that was genuinely an underrated show that came out at a bad time. Another show was Mao Mao from Cartoon Network that also got cut at season 2 when the plot was just starting to kick off.
I think people who like indie animation don’t realize that the most popular ones aren’t the most grassroots kind and aren’t that different from Disney. To me, indie animation is those short videos you find on TH-cam that some rando animated for no reason other than the fact they wanted to.
I swear. These TH-camrs sound like man children when they talk about indie animation when they say “INDE ANIMATION HAS BURIED DISNEY !!!!!!” I wonder how they feel about that now after inside out 2 made a lot of money at the box office.💀
Let me tell ya something, with the amount of people who went to see Inside Out 2, I was hoping that scene with the animation desks would spark some kind of curiosity in people about how classic hand drawn animation was done, but instead, not only did they not animate anything in that scene, it was more like storyboarding, they used the reality distortion lens like how people would use A.I. to turn doodles into art, and on top of everything, what looked like a pillow fight party in the trailers turned out to be the destruction of the studio, showing how much the people working on the film don’t respect hand drawn animation, as if it’s something to be ignored at best, to something to be destroyed at worst, just like Apple’s Crush ad.
So Disney & Pixar's ORIGINAL Movies Animated Are failing making more Sequels but So are the RIVALS: DreamWorks Sony and Illumination, since their biggest Recent and Upcoming Animated films are still Sequels and Adaptations such as Kung Fu Panda 4, The Garfield Movie, Despicable Me 4, Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 and Beyond the Spider-Verse, also it's kind of ironic that Elemental still became the Highest-Grossing ORIGINAL animated film from ANY STUDIO Since Coco in 2017.
And keep in mind the people who Sh*t all on Disney for making a bunch of sequels and Not original movies, are also the same people who Glaze the hell out of Puss in Boots The last wish, A Sequel to a Movie from 14 years ago!! Moral of the Story: *Animation Fans are F*cking Hypocrites*

I find Wish uninteressing and without any (positive) charm, but I do find it stupid to use indie shows to get against Disney. It's like people saying that GLITCH's Mr. Puzzles' villain song was ON THE SAME LEVEL AS BE PREPARED OR F*CKING HELLFIRE, the music is good, mind you, but nowhere near that level
The criticism of Disney and other studios isn’t about the quality of their animated movies or shows; it’s how they treat their animators. Indie is absolutely deserving of its praise.
I wouldn’t put all the blame on him. It’s mostly just a conglomerate of media analysts wanting to see big company get defeated by little company. It’s like an IRL underdog story. yall remember all the "Dreamworks and everthing else has better villains than Disney" trend from the beginnings of 2023? I think people find hating on big and rich companies/people something cool and different. And we all know what that big company is, Disney ofc. Amazing video btw
@@novanova78_34 honestly all these company vs company comparisons are getting tiring what happened to just liking something and leaving it. Or liking both equally.
Hi there, Lars from Camille's Harem. First off,
However, that gave way to the final spark on inspiration behind the video:
Finally, I had been trying to get larger TH-camrs to realize this growing phenomena.
But cartoons dont need to look like CN or Disney Channel to be cartoons, else what'll be the point of saying they beaten Disney or other companies

I’m abit a happy because you mentioned BFDI and Alphabet Lore bur you could’ve say the OSC and the Alphabet Lore Community because we got branches
He will mention each object show separately and for Alphabet lore
most of your mentions are not even considered animated series such as skibiti toilet, adbf movie, bugbo, animator vs animation, monster lab, noxp
asdbf movie is an skit series, skibity toilet is just brainrot for kids with nothing in it, bugbo is an semi horror series, animation vs animator is not consideret a series since each video is self contained, monster lab again to short to be considered a series, noxp are just a bunch of shorts like chikn nuggit
but regadless i agree with most of your point
Digital Circus is so forgettable compared to stuff like BFDI, Homestar Runner, or Eddsworld in my opinion 😞
3:43 I would like to
20:30 I agree with you on the discord thing, but dang man let them earn money! so, what if it can get leak people will still pay and the leakers need to paid and brokeys like me can watch videos from the links and speard the word around its all good either way
