The 'Dare to be Stupid' nod goes even further than just a reference to a song Al did. That song was used in a key part of the 1986 Transformers movie, a gorgeously animated spectacle with a rocking soundtrack even if the story can be a little confusing. ---Spoilers beyond here--- So, the sequence is a clash on the planet of Junk/Junkion, an artificial planet composed of space trash from all over the galaxy. It's also inhabited by a species of Transformers called 'Junkions', who all turn into Transformer sized motorcycles. Their leader is Wreck Gar, voiced by the legendary Eric Idle. The entire encounter eventually turns into a dance party with 'Dare to be Stupid' playing. So that is why Al plays Wreck Gar in Transformers: Animated.
i didn't realize Wreck-Gar was played by someone else in his first appearance, then again, I watched Transformers The Movie decades ago, so I don't remember much.
Fun fact: Supposedly Vivziepop originally wanted Weird Al to be the voice for Lucifer in Hazbin Hotel, but he turned down the role because of his personal rule against swearing. Though she still got to animate the “Vampire” segment for his “Polkamania” music video. I still think Jeremy Jordan was the better choice for Luci, but it’s funny to think about what could’ve been.
I think maybe Weird all Could be a highlevel archangel just below the Seraphim maybe even a named 8 archangels who opposite of the 7 princes of hell thing be he does not like people using curse words with each sin having opposite virtue chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, kindness, patience, and humility weird al could be humility or kindness since those in charge in hell are in the top in heaven those in charge is from the bottom archangels since lucifee was castout of heaven he could be opposite of Lucifer or Satan and also fine with the realization of sinner can be redeem
The only time I can recall Yankavic swearing was in his “Don’t Download This Song”, where you can faintly hear him shout “Just buy the song! You cheap bastard!” as the song fades out.
As someone who also has ecclectic tastes in music, the reason you can listen to a playlist of just weird al is because his songs are in EVERY genre, from rap to 80s pop to polka. It never gets boring or samey
14:13 "Lately my timeline has been filled with accusations that I’ve had sexual relations with a horse - so, for the record, I’d just like to state that’s not entirely accurate." Weird AL - 2019
So Dr. Screwball Jones wants to go around and force merriment and good times on unsuspecting people? In other words you could say that he's trying to enact Mandatory Fun
4:06 Do you mean Prowl, the sleek black ninja bike and Bulkhead, the big clumsy lug with the heart of gold??? "I've watched some of that show so you don't have to!!!" Doug Walker would be proud!!!
Al actually gave a bit of a history with Transformers. Dare to be stupid was in a scene from the G1 movie where Wreck-Gar and his crew attack the autobots. on top of voice acting wreck-gar in a couple episodes of animated (the best Transformers series) he also plays Cosmos in the current series, Transformers Earthspark
11:22 It’s actually not 100% certain that that’s his real name. It definitely could be. But in his backstory song, he said growing up nobody even knew his name. It wasn’t until he got his cutie mark (of a cheese sandwich) that he started getting recognized, as ‘Cheese Sandwich’ Not impossible that it’s his birth name, but it could very well just be a name he himself chose.
It kind of blew me away when I first saw Pinkie's Pride. I wasn't expecting Weird Al to guest on the episode, and after that, it ends up being, what I believe to be, the perfect Pinkie Pie episode. It's energetic, it's silly, it's surreal, it's got catchy songs, it's just a fun time had entirely. It's in my Top 20 favorite MLP episodes.
5:34 that's a surprisingly intricate joke. Yes, the song title of course. But in the '86 movie, that song played as the main characters were getting help from: Junkbots. Transformers that inhabit a junk filled planet. Neat! 😁
0:23 - 0:34 you literally just described my entire experience with weird Al wtf. I barely listen to actual artists I just take songs that sound cool and listen, but I found weird Al and basically listen to his entire discography. WTH???
Guess Who is sort of a sequel to a vintage Scooby-Doo series Scooby-Doo Movies were there is a lot of guest stars that are either real people or famous characters like Batman and Robin or Harlem Globetrotters
So that whole Johnny Bravo episode was poking fun at Scooby-Doo's early attempts to stay relevent. After the original series they had The New Scooby-Doo Movies (which had a celeberty guest for almost every episode) and The Scooby-Doo Show (which often crossed over with The Blue Falcon). (Oh and if you wanna try getting into Transformers, def watch more TF Anmated it's really good.)
5:35 That's also a Transfotmers reference, because the song "Dare To Be Stupid" was in the Original Transformers Movie (1986). That scene is also the presentation of The Junkions and the first apppereance of Wreckgar, the transformer that Weird Al voices here.
So a few corrections to the Transformers segment of this video. The other two Autobots are Prowl and Bulkhead and Sari is not a black girl, she's Indian which should have been obvious by the fact her name is Sari and her father's accent. I would also like to point out, this not even the only Weird Al episode of Transformers. For starters, the song they reference in the episode "Dare to be Stupid" was on the sound track of the original 1986 Transformers movie and plays during the scene when the original Wreck-Gar was first introduced. Secondly, Weird Al would return as the voice of Wreck-Gar in the episode "Human Error, Part II" which is a season 3 episode and it should be noted by this point in the series we've found out, Sari isn't a human girl at all but she still has the appearance of an Indian. And in case it wasn't clear earlier I mean an actual Indian from India not a Native American. Third, Weird Al has also appeared recently in THREE episode of Transformers Earthspark as Cosmos. He first appears in "The Butterfly Effect" and later in the "Judgement Day" two parter.
Well one of the bigger notes with the first cheese sandwich episode is that it was part of the 5 important episodes of season 4 that led to the finale, having boneless become one of the keys that were needed to open the rainbow chest
This video's a banger. Never seen half of these despite having watched almost all of these shows a bunch as a kid (minus MLP and Hailey's on It), and Al has some crazy range.
Fun-fact: Dare to be Stupid was also part of the soundtrack of the original '80s TransFormers movie, and played during the scene that originally introduced Wreck-Gar!
The reason why Weird Al teamed up with Don Knotts and the Blue Falcon: the three of them were somewhat infamous for appearing in multiple unrelated cartoons. Don Knotts back in his hay day was a voice actor for probably even more characters than Weird Al, and Blue Falcon didn't have quite as many guest appearances but when he does show up it's jarring because he's so out of place with the likes of Dexter's Lab and Scooby Doo; and out of all of Hanna Barbera's action shows (like Thundarr, Birdman, Space Ghost, Herculoids etc.) I don't think anybody knows why Blue Falcon of all of them is the one they decided should be crossing over into their other properties.
Technically theres 5 weird al mlp episodes due to him marrying pinkie in the finale the last promblem and being in the backrounds with some speaking roles after his interduction
The first time I've heard of Weird Al Yankovic is hearing the Polkamon song he provided for the end credits of the 4Kids dub of Pokemon the Movie 2000.
So i think the Golden Girls thing is just a funny thing with Khary Payton (Cyborg's voice actor) Because when he's a guest player on Critical Role, he summons a magical weapon and it just so happens to be a Golden Girls reference
The whole reason Al voiced Wrek-Gar is from the original Transformer Animated movie used his song "Dare to be stupid" for the original Wrek-gars intro. Al appeared as Wrek-gar twice in transformers animated
11:30 It's actually implied that ponies sometimes change their names after getting their cutie mark, so it's entirely possible thar he took the name Cheese Sandwich later.
There's actually been a few other scooby episodes Al showed up in. I remember there was one where he had a whole theater to himself for quite concert or something like that
4:06 Sari is Indian. my favorite part about the Dare to be Stupid reference is that the song played in the 1986 movie over the scene in which Wreck-Gar first appears

I think you missed one, in transformers: earthspark season 2 episode 2 we meet cosmo, who was imprisoned to be used as an atraction at an amusement park and in the show cosmo is voiced by weird al
One of the best characters he played was Captain Peanutbutter from Bojack Horseman. I was surprised since his character went from comedic to depressed, saying how it is cruel to let people love you because you are promising them that you will break their hearts in the future. The reason why he is depressed is that he has a certain condition that could be fatal, and he is getting surgery. Thankfully, he lives, but his acting was very impressive, going from his usual self to a person who is worried about his mortality and how he may not have long to live if the surgery doesn't go well.
Strange that you mention Wreck-Gar, then later mention characters who return after their first appearance. Wreck-Gar also appeared in another episode. The Autobots were mind controlled by Soundwave, meaning Sari (Tara) had to recruit more robots to rescue them. Wreck-Gar returned, along with Scrapper the Constucticon and Snarl the Dinobot.
4:06 the two robots are named prowl and bulkhead and the girl's name is sari, it really bothers that you don't remember their names while i a transformers fan do
16:03 genuine question, can beast boy take on anthropomorphic animals traits? Like can he just copy superman while under a yellow sun and change to manhunter under a red one?
I depends who writes beast boy honestly, when he appeared he only was able to copy 'normal' animals, some later comics would experiment with him changing into 'alien animals' (idk man), and the last few that I remember that went into detail on his transformations would paint the picture that it depends heavily on his mentality, but also that species that have innate powers could have a heavy toll in his body/mind. Like, he became Starro at one point, that was pretty epic.
I never watched word girl as a kid as i never really watched PBS, but this seems like a show i would've liked also my favorite joke from dungeons dungeons and more dungeons is after saying a few wild things that can happen with the infinity sided dice ford says "or you can roll an 8" just the juxtaposition of that is hilarious to me
Interesting side note, Weird Al technically appeared in a Scooby Doo episode before Scooby Doo and Guess Who... In a Batman cartoon. In an episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Bat-Mite, a fourth-wall breaking character who can basically do anything and is a mega fan of Batman, shows some episodes of Batman cartoons that don't really exist. One of these cartoons acts like an episode from the New Scooby Doo Movies (That's the name of a 70s Scooby Doo series to be clear) where Batman appeared in a few episodes. This cartoon also has Weird Al appear, but he's more of a minor character and the segment itself is like 7ish minutes so it wouldn't have been included in this video regardless. PS: That cartoon is also where the image of Shaggy punching the Joker came from.
I’d also like to mention that Wierd Al signed a piece of Cheese Sandwich/Pinkie Pie fanart with “I stole your waifu”
Oh that’s too good XD
That's actually hilarious.
He's my tyler the creator
No way 💀💀💀
@@lordevolder9907that is a crazy comparison but I’m on board
The best part of the transformers one is that the main reason they got him is because in the first transformers movie they played dare to be stupid
He also appears in a Christmas episode as Ratgar. I think he got the last line of the episode with "Free Trash for all the good children!"
Im pretty sure calling him "Cheese sandwich" was weird al's idea.
Its exactly what i think he'd name a pony.
Visually, I like how his cutiemark is a cheese sandwich sliced in half, but spread in a way that resembles an accordion.

Though she still got to animate the “Vampire” segment for his “Polkamania” music video. I still think Jeremy Jordan was the better choice for Luci, but it’s funny to think about what could’ve been.
It’s kinda like how Danny Trejo states that if he has to play a villain then he must be killed off.
Imagine if he agreed to the part but they also tweaked the character such that Lucifer never swears.
