- Pokemon Radical Red is one of the best rom hacks ever made. After failing five attempts of a nuzlocke of this incredibly difficult game, I knew with a new update it was time to win. In Radical Red 4.1, all Pokemon through generation 9 are included, challenging boss battles have been added throughout the region, and new moves and abilities were created to rebalance Pokemon. But can I beat this incredible game as a randomized hardcore nuzlocke?
Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules:
1) Can only catch the first encounter on each route
2) No healing items can be used in battle (held items are allowed)
3) If a Pokemon faints they are considered dead and must be released or boxed
4) No overleveling past the next Gym Leader's ace
5) Battle mode must be on "set"

Illusion in Radical Red doesn't work in disguising your mon so the Devs compensated for it by giving it a 30% damage boost instead.
That’s Stupid, the entire gimmick of zoroark is that if disguises Itself as another mon. Adding that attack boast is a stupid way to compromise losing what makes the Pokémon unique.

I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say the encouters are enjoyable to watch. Think it’s worthwhile to add them :)

coming from someone who also failed a nuzlocke at giovanni 3 i can definetly agree with you when i say radical red nuzlockes DO MAKE you a better nuzlocker because of how out of your mind you have to play but i must ask CGA did you roll any mid or bad abilities because all those abilities were fire

Next try it's hardcore mode
As someone who also played radical red, I will say that I agree with you that Sabrina is easy. She took me barely any attempts to beat her.
Illusion doesn't really work in radical red. Its stupid but ye. Same goes with coverage move and other abilities. The ai will always know if you have rolled water absorb or any ability like that, so it will never hit you with it (even if you are 4x weak to it)
And that misty gym part where floatzel used water gun instead of ice wind, it weirdly knows what you are switching into at times. I was doing a hard mode run and realised that it was happening way too frequently , so I quick saved in my emulator before switching and the attack that bot chose changed according to my switch. Idk why this happens tho
