I have the same guitar with the same finish but 1995 from the Samick factory. I replaced the pickups with Gibson Classic 57s a few years ago. The guitar is excellent although i guess it is on the heavy side. I suppose that gives better tone. I have a Gibson 335 too and while that is a better guitar it is not that much better. I am not too keen on the big E on the pickguard but otherwuse it is really nice. I have a question about the tuners. It turns out they are Ping tuners based on my research even though they look like Grovers. I would like to change them for Kluson style but have been unable to determine if i can just drop them in exusting peg holes. Do you know?
You said your friends decision to buy the Sheraton was influenced by June of 44? I also enjoy that band. Did the guitar player play a Sheraton?
I've got one of those. I replaced the pots and caps, strung it up with chrome lights, and it's really great. I think they're a terrific value guitar.

Replaced mine with grovers and had to ream out the holes very slightly to make them fit…. Mine is a 97 Samick made.
