    I found that the longer my hair got, the more beneficial stretching is. I started with a TWA, now I'm just about waist length. When I tell you less is better, less is better. The detangling process is maddening but if isn't done often and intentionally the matting is brutal. Almost locd. I would try stretching for sure.

      How long did it take you to get to waist length

      @Tameekarose Admittedly I had some setbacks. Stress, graduate school, life. LOL About 5 years. I also did some cuts in between.

    I wash my daughter's hair in twists every week. I use an applicator bottle for shampoo and her scalp gets very clean. Her hair is waist length now. Twists are the only thing we do now. They work.

    I wash, deep condition, and detangle after deep condition with my hair in twists. I am happy the suggestions helped with your matted roots.

    Stunning style!! When my hair used to be longer I always used to wash in twists! I tend to retain the partings (keeping the roots braided) when I do a braid-out or twist-out! This keeps my roots from matting! I saw this on Jostylin and Naturally High her channel! I also believe that you can always wash in braids or twists❤️😘

    I was against putting my hair in twist to wash it, but as it got longer, it’s worth the time it takes me to put it in twist and then wash it. Right now I have my hair in twist.

  • @Dotthel

    I do this 99 percent of the time. It’s easier for me and make washing day more manageable. Also it helps with the thinness at the ends. I’ve been washing it in twists for a year and you can see the year of thickness by the roots vs the stringy ends. Game changer!!!

      I really wanna try this because I suck at doing my own hair, and I have to go a couple of months before I can get someone to do a full wash day treatment for me (temporarily). I'm scared of it matting or locking up, though. How do y'all manage it?😭

  • @IndirePolaris
    @IndirePolaris 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I literally just starting doing this method back in July! I used to wear my fro out a lot, but I started to neglect it by shoving it up into a matted puff. I finally decided to do mini twists and instead of taking them out, I just washed my hair like normal, moisturize the twist, and went about my day. I only re-do my twists when it starts to get all unraveled. That changed my life lol. I do miss my fro styles, but I know this is way healthier for my hair and manageable for my lifestyle. Plus, this method helped me retain soooo much length.

    • @christy7516
      @christy7516 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What happens when the twists get old though won't they lock up?

    • @IndirePolaris
      @IndirePolaris 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@christy7516 yeah sometimes, but not always if you keep them moisturized. However when they do start to lock up, I retwist them after wash day so the twist are clean and moisturized to make it easier to comb out.

    Thanks for making this video! I wash my hair in twists all the time, it saves me so much time detangling on wash day.
    We big chopped around the same time and my hair is about the same length as yours. I've also found that at this length wearing my hair in an afro or high puff is more of a one day luxury maybe a little longer if I detangle before bed each night. But detangling everyday creates its own problems, like breakage due to over manipulation. It's reassuring to see that it's not just me that's found it impractical these days.

    If l wear a high puff for weeks, l still need to get in there and gently fingers detangle with a little oil weekly. And then put it back in the high puff, Or yes it will knot up pretty badly. The longer it gets your wash routine changes.

    When I wash my hair in twist it seems to get clean to me. Lol. I use a clarifying shampoo that doesn’t dry my hair out. When I untwist it to style it seems clean and moisturized.

    This is my method every week but I double cleanse like you mentioned wanting to do. The longer my hair gets, the faster my wash day goes. I mix up and freeze many batches of deep conditioner and my own hair butter. So glad you were able to finish quickly.

    Thank you for sharing this video of your hair journey in twists! It looks beautiful!!! Protective styles are just another way to show the versatility of our hair. I do wash my hair in twists from time to time and re-twist it too. It is quicker! I agree a second shampoo may be needed but you'll determine and share that in an update to us! Happy wedding!

    Im so scared to wash my hair in twists now. The last time I did my hair got matted. I had the twists in for 3 weeks prior to washing them so maybe that is why. I have fine thick hair that "webs" easily along with 3 weeks of shed hair- that is probably what caused it. I take twists out and finger comb to remove some of the shed hair first now.😄

    Nice!. Try washing and conditioning your hair in two halves as well! We have similar hair type and length. that helps me! I love the black products from twist! I also have a list of five hairstyles that I will be repeating cause my hair is long now too. Wash and go is the least preferred cause the matting and single strand knots are real!

    Ur hair looks gorgeous in this video. I would love to see ur hair in mini twist! Like make each of the twists in this video 4 twists 😅 its a lot but i promise it’s worth the effort, maybe start with this still so u get a break lol….i think it would look gorgeous. That’s my fav stretched protective style and my hair does not tangle or mat ( as long as my ends aren’t bad). Congrats on ur wedding!

      @apara2005 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      "Washing" in twist is good in a pinch if you don't have time (ie if your sick and you need a quick rinse), but totally agree...You don't get all the dirt and product out.

      Same I tried it like twice and i have seborrheic dermatitis so I have to get in my scalp. It was a no go for me. The flakes would get trapped in my twists and the shampoo. Just too much

    Can you do some new wash & go videos, some deep conditioning videos and more wash days & i want to see more product reviews like as i am, shea moisture lines', camille rose, curlsmith & & maybe even briogeo???? Please do. I have a hard time finding product reviews or wash & go's from you because alot of your videos have gel reviews' blow dryer reviews and "how to" hair styles videos. Alot of us are struggling with finding the correct products especially nourishing conditioner, deep conditioner, hair masks, & leave ins etc., also struggle with matted hair, single strand knots, length retention, & want to learn how you & others refrain away from getting breakage, speed up the growth process ❤. Love to see more deep conditioner product reviews, leave ins, growth oils, rinse out conditioners, & wash & go videos + a detangling with me video & length check!!

    I heard about washing in twists a decade ago but it doesn’t work well for me. One my hair is very dense and I washed getting down enough into my scalp and two the water pressure would undo my twists., But I do some detangling when I wash every 3/4 days. I pineapple too.

    I was waiting for this update! I'm glad you were able to get your hair detangled! The twists look cute a d full too. Have you thought about beads? I recently put some in and find it very fun and simple to do. Not sure how was day will go though. Can't wait for the next video! Will you have a videographer for the wedding? Are you doing your hair for it? My husband and I will be planning a wedding in the next couple of years and I want to wear my hair natural so I'm curious as to what you decide on because we have a really similar texture.
