    I have been blessed to be able to ride on that plane several times. One of the missionary trips was to South America. We loved helping the people there. All the missionaries go into hospitals and AIDS Orphanages and out on the streets handing out literature and praying with the people. Schools open their doors and places of businesses wanting us to minister unto them and pray for them. There's nothing like helping souls...nothing! Star Triple Seven is AWESOME!

      You do realize that Angley could ship all your supplies by air freight and send you and your fellow missionaries first class to anywhere on the globe and save over 80% of the cost to fly the old 747? At 5 cent per seat mile and 400 seats, the cost of fuel is $30,000 for a 1500 mile round trip. Of course destinations in South America can be far more than 1500 miles and you have maintainance around $300-400 per flight hours added to the salaries of three people in the cockpit and you're talking major cash. It's a money drain and of course I made no provision for costs outside required checks, for repairs and parts, nor cabin personnel. I didn't add in landing fees and costs related to using a large parking spot, catering, cleaning including emptying the Lav.

    This is Ernest Angely's. They call it Star Triple 7. If you don't know who he is, he's a televangelist.

    Akron was where my first flight was. I flew to Flordia on spirit airline, there was a 8 hour flight delay though...

    @flightsimdude111 I believe the SP length is about 40 feet shorter than the normal 747 length.

    If it's the one pilot I'm thinking about, (well, they're all excellent) in knowing him and talking to him on one of the missionary trips...He definitely loves to fly and enjoys it...especially doing it for the Lord and His missionary work. He's a real special guy. We love him so much!

    The point of touch and goes is to practice landings continually, without landing, rolling out, taxiing back to take off again. Also doing your practice this way saves fuel. Of course, a simulator is handy as well. Ideally, a runway for 747 touch and goes would be longer than this one (maybe 9 to 10K). I think the two runways at this Akron Airport range about 7,100 to 7,500 hundred feet long. This would enable them room to actually lower the nose onto the runway before taking off again.

    @Senicova I worked there at the time and had an airport badge. Unless you have a badge you can't get inside the fence.

    Not a real pilot, (but slowly training here), I wonder why main gear only barely touching and NO nose gear down, (looks like flaps were 20? could be wrong) probably length of runway because the heavy takes a LOT of runway, by the time you get her nose down, it is time for flap back to 5 (or so), speed brake off, N1 to 98, and wait for V1....that is a lot that has to happen in about 10 seconds...

    He preaches and lays hands on the sick and they get well here also. You should pay them a visit some time. There are also four associate pastors that are awesome men of God that also pray for the sick and God performs miracles through them as well. His website is huge and awesome. I think now there's like 90 1 hour shows that can be viewed on his website. The place is pretty amazing. That plane is strictly used for missionary trips only--that's it. Blessings.

      Last I heard it’s still sitting in the Pinal Airpark in Marana, Arizona because it needs a part that costs more than what the Grace Cathedral has so they can’t fly it unfortunately

    @jss747 Is anyone able to get where you are without being in trouble? or do you work at the airport. You basically seem to be by a hanger with small planes parked out front

    What is the point of touch & goes?

    • @Stelum1000
      @Stelum1000 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This, is a VERY, VERY late comment, I know, But if Tim from four years ago still cares, I shall quote someone from the comments above: "The point of touch and goes is to practice landings continually, without landing, rolling out, taxiing back to take off again. Also doing your practice this way saves fuel. Of course, a simulator is handy as well. Ideally, a runway for 747 touch and goes would be longer than this one (maybe 9 to 10K). How do you know....perhaps one day God will make a way for you to ride Star Triple Seven on one of the missionary journeys?? You just never know... It's my desire to go on all the trips...I love working on the missionary field...there's nothing like it...nothing. Rev. Angley is my favorite and only preacher too...He's the best preacher there is...preaches the truth no matter what!
